I was fully prepared to judge this book by it's cover, but when my friend told me we were going to dinner here and the seafood was fantastic, I took her word.... and she was right! This is a locals bar, an older crowd. Don't come for the atmosphere; come for the food and drinks! Bar staff was attentive and recommended the fish. They stress that they only serve FRESH haddock and only certain days of the week. I enjoy fish and chips so went for that.... and it was great! Awesome portion, not greasy at all, fries tasty and coleslaw with a nice tang! Can't go wrong for $16. Pretty big menu with lots of reasonably priced options. Pleasantly surprised! Joined my daughter and two of her friends for a local bar lunch. Am I glad I did! I've been craving (good) fish and chips for a while and not having any luck. Even the fish places have been disappointing. Not "The Buc"! Oh. My. Word! I had the fish and chips with a side of coleslaw. It was fantastic! The fish was a good size, fried with enough batter (not too much), flaky and tasty. The tarter sauce and coleslaw were not too tangy and not too sweet. Wonderful. Then the fries...yummy! Crispy outside, and tender potato inside abs they had just the right amount of seasoning. My daughter had chicken alfredo... the chicken was moist and tender, lots of sauce (we like it this way) with al dente pasta. Her friends had the shrimp Alfredo and shrimp scampi. Both said they were delicious. Then there was the side of garlic parmesan chicken wings. Also great. Don't overlook a local bar for delicious food, good prices and drinks! It's rating hasn't changed but it's still nice to try stuff from their menu & see what you think. Here I did a double burger & 20-pc. wings but person at counter little in accident didn't get both orders at same time because maybe he thought I dropped one but later chose to get it (mistakes happen) but nevertheless it worked out. read more

Every time I go food is very Luck warm was there today and asked for a to go box 4 minutes after I got my food I asked for one she didn't ask why or if there was was a issue.. ordered pastrami rubin and was so lukewarm. Fries almost cold and Hot sandwich sat like you opened ot up to cool down .. almost 100.00 later THEY DONT CARE after saying it to bartender and to the guy who helps clean up who I asked what do you do here. He said I help out .. so disappointed I have to eat it hot when I go home ... YUCK .. TELL YOUR COOK TO TIME IT BETTER after 4 times being there !!!! read more

Wings are 75cents a few days a week. Killer pasta dishes! Seafood bonanza specials Thursday Thru the wknd! Pizzas are great and priced right! In season...whole bellies and Seafoodspecials! Tonight I opted for Shrimp Scampi over linguini! At least 10 Large shrimp over pasta! Salad and a roll. The.people next to me (regulars) were drooling!! I literally inhaled.it!! Very disappointed in the service. It started out nice with a quick beer and menu and then nothingness. No follow through, no order taken. The menu looked good but I will never know. The day lady was too busy with the exit plan and the night lady was too busy eating behind the bar, texting and only taking care of the locals. Had to flag her down to show her the very empty beer glass. The beer selection was good as was the popcorn. I noticed not one soul was eating anything from the kitchen. I have driven by "The Buc" hundreds of times in the years I have lived in the area. Finally decided to try it. Very glad I did and sorry I waited so long. It is a true neighborhood bar - in a residential neighborhood. Not in a strip mall or on a busy main drag. My wife and I went on Friday afternoon of July 4th weekend. We had the whole belly clams and fried scallops. Both came with fries and cole slaw. We agreed both were above average with plenty of fries and slaw. We were surprised the service was so good. The bartender/waitress was right over to take our drink order - and then our food order. Our dinners came out very soon and again were pretty darn tasty. The atmosphere/vibe was relaxing. My guess is the 30 or so people there were locals/regulars. Couple of guys playing a golf video game and some ladies shooting pool. Was fun overhearing some of the patrons at the bar talking about fishing and boating on the local lakes. As a comparison note. We visited, the next day, one of our favorite seafood restaurants in Milford, Ct. ( The Stonebridge). Both of us agreed that the food at The Buc was a little tastier - and the service definitely much better at The Buc. The Buccaneer is worth a visit. read more
