This place was fun, i went by myself on a friday where i got off of work early. I went to the story but the beer place that sells growlers (tiny town and trenton) and i was pleasantly surprised. I wish i could actually have made the pottery piece that i painted (false advertising, i think) but that's ok. On Wednesdays they have a military appreciation day where you don't pay $6. Anyways, i picked up a sea shell jewelry box, $15, and painted it for about an hour to an hour in a half with little to no distractions or bothering from the employees. I was kind of annoyed that i had to keep getting up and asking for more paint like a child but i understand. There are a lot of children that go there with their parents and if they were to give me the paint tube, they might think i'd abuse it. So i paid about $23 in total on that Friday, because i didn't go to the Wednesday special, but all and all it was a good time. I'd go there for a date :) it's cute and it gives you time to think and chat if you bring a friend.

We were probably in there for about 4-5 minutes before anyone came up to us which was fine. The woman asked us if we had been to their location before and we both said no. She then pretty rudely stated we needed to go wash our hands before we could do anything. The act of washing our hands was fine, it was just how it was said. She acted as if we were an inconvenience to her day. Also, if washing hands is major concern then maybe they should have someone greeting customers. There were maybe 5-6 other customers in the store already painting and they did not seem overly busy. We both washed our hands and went back to select our pieces. We both got a bad vibe so we decided to leave. Once we left my friend said she overheard the employees talking about us as she washing her hands. If you are looking for a place to paint pottery and don't mind the drive we both loved The Hot Spot in Springfield. They were super helpful and attentive and had lower prices than this store. Only downside is the drive.

We looked through the Project Gallery, which had quite a variety of signs to choose from, and each of us selected a different one to make. These were the first signs any of us have ever made. They provided us with all the quality materials, tools, and personal instructions need for each project. The entire staff was personable, friendly, and knowledgeable with the variety of projects we choose from. Emily, was a godsend! She was very patient and detailed in answering our questions. She even assisted us when we doubted our ability. Kathy, the owner, was right there helping as needed while working with another group also. We never felt rushed. We brought a charcuterie tray and drinks with us to nibble and sip on as we worked. Such fun!! Keep in mind when picking projects and setting aside enough time to complete them, that the smaller signs could take an hour, the large ones can take two hours, and the real big ones can take even longer. I have taken my 3 children and their friends to Muletown Pottery since they were very young. Two…read moreweeks ago I returned with my daughter, now 23 years old, her husband and a friend. We had an excellent time yet again! We typically paint small plates or the large bowls with the handles. It's been so interesting to see the plates and bowls they painted as very small children to what they paint now. We have plates and platters with footprints and handprints from when they were infants. Muletown Pottery has sort of documented our children's growth (in several ways) through the years. Each experience has been very good and I recommend Muletown Pottery for indoor entertainment.

I practiced ceramics for about five years and then school, work, and life got in the way. Fast forward to 2019 and I'm back on the wheel thanks to OSP. The classes here are super chill and offer all the basic needs for a successful novice potter. There are about ten wheels here which includes three standing wheels. There's also a slab roller and clay molds for hand building, if throwing on the wheel isn't your thing. The classes here will run about $190 for eight weeks which includes tools, discounted clay, unlimited glazings, and kiln firings. If eight weeks is too much of a commitment, they also one-off date night classes so you can take the class for test run. I know $192 may sound steep, but this farm is 100% a non-profit organization. So you're not only supporting the arts, but also a fully functioning farm as-well. Friday are free days if you're enrolled in a class, but will cost non-students $6.50 am hour. Bonus, you can grab beers from the restaurant upstairs and bring them to the studio. Yay for clay!

So if you're not in a hurry ( said it could maybe be summer) to get your item and if you're not picky what you paint it's a great place to go.
