We visited Buck Hill Farm at the recommendation of our Airbnb host while we were staying in the area for the weekend & what a surprise it was! The exterior is misleading & easy to pass by if you're not in the know - don't let it fool you! Breakfast is only served on weekends between 8 AM & 1 PM & we just happened to be there. Service was extra warm & welcoming - we had our pup with us & it was a not so great weekend weather wise & while we offered to order & sit outside at a table as to not disrupt other diners, they managed to put us in their back room so no one had to eat out in the cold (Pepper can't write her own review, but she says thank you, two paws up!) While the menu is small, one item is better than the next & you can't go wrong no matter what you choose! Prices are reasonable for everything you get & in today's economy, it's a rare find! The apple pancakes were to die for & honestly, the biggest pancakes I've ever seen! Fresh biscuits with maple butter (YUM!) Don't pass up on the extra creamy & delicious chocolate milk! Seriously - can I get an IV drip of that? This place is the embodiment of farm to table (obviously). Zero frills, but full authenticity of a working farm. Wonderful place & wonderful people. They have lots of their goods for sale too, so you can take Buck Hill Farm home with you! We bought their delicious bourbon maple syrup, fresh herbal tea, hot sauce, & took some ribs back to the house to grill for Father's Day! Plenty of full & happy bellies even after leaving the farm. This is a MUST STOP! Nestled in the Catskills is a hidden gem with farm to table food. The chickens are out back and you eat in the barn! Ok, not a barn with stables but it's a barn like building. I ordered two blueberry pancakes with sausage. Guest got a loaded omelet, potatoes, sausage and toast. All eggs, potatoes, sausage and real maple syrup came from the Buck Hill Farm. Pancakes from a good mix but with a generous amount of blueberries. It was a good and hot and tasty breakfast! Went to breakfast last Sunday at what locals refer to as 'the sap house.' We were a large party so we had to wait a few minutes for a table. Yes, this is a working sap house & seasonally you may even catch the pure maple syrup or some of the many maple products they make being made. The shelves are well stocked with maple products as well as maple nostalgia adorning the walls. Farm fresh eggs are grown, used & sold here, along with locally sourced meats & cheeses. All the food is made right at the griddle and served with a smile. Kids and adults alike enjoy coloring the place mats provided at the table. They are open on weekends for breakfast from 8am - 1pm. This is the place to be if you're ever in the area. It's a family owned and operated working farm that serves breakfast on weekends only and has quite literally written the book on pancakes. Beyond the delicious pancakes and farm fresh eggs - the coffee is strong and freshly brewed and they also sell local produce, eggs and milk to take home. The inside is set up more or less like a house or a farmhouse or a barn? I really love this place and if you're in the Catskills please stop by for breakfast! If you go on a weekend, go early because it's very popular and gets packed. You can save yourself a wait if you show up at 8-9AM. The staff moves a bit slow, but it's because it's a small team and lots of people want to eat there, but they're so sweet, welcoming and kind. The breakfast is fresh and farm to table so everything taste great. We had the oatmeal (add the syrup on top and it's perfection), French toast, biscuits with sausage gravy, eggs, & coffee. We also picked up a few goodies on the shelf to go. They have syrup, honey, popcorn, etc that you can buy on your way out. I cannot emphasize strongly enough how good the breakfast is here. Everything is hyper local, and therefore, hyper fresh. The eggs were tremendous, the the hash filling and wonderfully seasoned, and the toast of a higher quality than your typical diner toast. The highlight, however, was the blueberry pancakes (with maple syrup pulled from a tree on the property). These were maybe the best pancakes I've ever had. I love places like this and try to support as many as I can. I'm also local but probably don't stand out as being a local. So my rating is partially based on the service. I'll start with the food. The food was good, I wasn't blown away by anything except the biscuits were excellent and the sausage was very good too. My wife had biscuit and sausage gravy. I ate all her sausage because she didn't like it but I thought the sausage was pretty good. The bacon was decent, the home fries were just okay. The gravy was a little too bland and the home fries had a seasoning that was just sprinkled on at the end. So they were kind of bland except when you got some powder. The maple butter is great too but because our portion wasn't soft, when you tried to apply it to the biscuit the biscuit was so soft it literally fell apart into tiny pieces. So we didn't really get to use any of the butter unfortunately. So the other part of this review being a 3 star. We've never been here for breakfast before even though it's 10 mins away. It's a little confusing what door to walk in at first, then when you walk into the dining room whether you sit yourself or not. So we stood there for a little while waiting for someone to direct us. Keep in mind, the room is pretty small and "intimate". The kitchen and dining room are all together almost like an old/small diner. We are just standing there with 3 people basically going about what they were doing. I don't want say they were ignoring us but they definitely weren't overly interested in making sure we knew we could just sit down anywhere. Eventually I asked. After we sit down there was a couple leaving that based on their conversation it was their first time eating there. The owner (I'm guessing) was super friendly with them. They leave. Our server did a good job overall as far as taking our order and getting our food but everyone was just kind of "cold". In a small place like this, the cooking is happening right there near our table, nobody said one word to us at all except to take our order. I'm jumping to conclusions assuming it's because we didn't look like we were local even though we live 10 mins away. That's how it felt, which is very disappointing because one reason you go to places like this is because you expect there to be a friendliness you don't get at a place like Madison cafe in Albany. But we've had far more friendly service at Madison cafe every time we've gone the last few years. So, as we are finishing our meal, two more locals came in. Obvious from their conversation they lived in Jefferson and of course, the owner and other girl making food talked with them the entire time up until we left. Just disappointing they didn't feel the need to really greet us when we first walked in or say one word to us while we are sitting there. read more

We were introduced to Buck Hill Farm through the Table to Farm tour company, first visiting on Saturday to take a tour with Sharon and learn about maple syrup and maple products and then coming back on Sunday for brunch. We got to the farm around 9:20am and didn't have to wait for a table, but there seemed to be a bit of wait after we arrived and until we left. Brunch was delicious with fresh ingredients (right from the farm outside) and I especially loved the blackberry juice, biscuit with maple butter/cream, and omelet with fresh veggies. Our server was attentive and cheerful, helping newbies choose through all the delicious options on the menu.
