Since he's leaving there we've decided to warn other people. First, the food was wretched! The main courses were messed up from the beginning and had to be redone. They screwed up the 'special' as well! My husband and I both ordered steak with shrimp scampi. We both ordered medium; his came back like shoe leather mine was so rare I couldn't eat it! The 'shrimp scampi' amounted to 4 shrimp each that had the texture rubber and appeared to have been thrown in a fry pan with a bunch of garlic sans butter and the white wine required to make it actual shrimp scampi, and dumped on our steaks. It wasn't edible. I ordered rice pilaf with my steak (part of the special) as did my husband. Both came back with cold, lumpy mashed potatoes! We had to ask for the rice! They brought out two smaller plates, much later, with 'rice pilaf' which tasted exactly like it was prepared from a box! It too wasn't edible! Then we order dessert, chocolate cheesecake...which was literally plain cheesecake with awful chocolate syrup on it...NOT CHOCOLATE cheesecake! I'm not sure what my husband or daughters came to because it was a Father's Day present but mine, with NO alcohol, was over $50!!!! For a terrible meal that had to be sent back because they got their own special wrong! Save your $$ and your taste buds and eat somewhere else! To make all of this much worse, the owner (same guy that served us) had hired my daughter's boyfriend promising a certain wage. Turns out he not only refuses to pay him the promised wage (paying him considerably less) but he's paying him (all the employees) under the table as well as cutting back promised hours! Our dining experience lasted 2 1/2 agonizing hours! There was only one other couple in the place and they sat down a full 30 minutes after we did and they received their food first!

The hours are changed from the sign to 7-3, and closed Tuesday. They may not be the best for a group, we had 8 in our party. Tracy was the hostess/waitress and she was so friendly and constantly chatted with our son. While it took a while for our coffee to come (I'm assuming she was making a fresh pot!), our cups never got cold because she came around frequently asking if we needed warm-ups. The food took a while to come out, but it came out hot and delish! When we said crispy bacon, we got crispy bacon (and not the paper thin stuff, either!) The building and all inside it could use a little updating, but it's a good stop. Not fancy, but you'll be fed and smiling with Tracy and the regulars. Best of luck, Tracy!

One must navigate a badly graded narrow gravel road with several hairpin twists and turns and no lighting to get there. Not what I expected. The lovely stone clubhouse, verdant golf course and lush flowers were welcome sights. We were greeted by a pleasant young server and shown to an outside table. Unfortunately the metal table had no covering and was quite dirty; even worse were the thin red chair pads that smelled of some very unpleasant PP-like substance. Eww. Since all of the other tables looked similar or were occupied and service was slow, we thought we'd stay put and make the best of it - but also planned to shower in hot water soon afterward. We were given single sheet paper menus showing a limited selection, but our hopes were raised (and then dashed) when we saw the statement "ask your server about dinner specials and desserts." Well we asked - only to be told there were no such offerings except maybe on weekends. I had a nice fresh Greek salad and tiny dried out chicken wings. Hubby had a bland grilled chicken sandwich with fries. Iced tea tasted canned not brewed. We finished our meals, and as night descended we were the only ones left outside with our server MIA. After over 15 minutes of waiting we finally went inside the clubhouse to find our server socializing among a hopping bar scene of locals. Guess she forgot about us. While some restaurants are using post-COVID staff shortages as an excuse for slow and limited service, this bizarre experience went way beyond that rationale. Accordingly, we we will not risk life or limb to brave the winding road up to Shepard Hills Tavern again anytime soon.
