Buckhead is a long established neighborhood north of Atlanta where some attribute it to a wealthy enclave while others embrace the shopping and restaurants that the area is known for. Was the food good? I sure don't know. MY sisters husband didn't plan on the rain sticking around and packed a sporty rain jacket. Was told of the "no hoodie" rule which didn't even apply but either way couldn't be seated because of that, despite the fact that he was dressed well underneath. Don't want to say that this is about race. Didn't help that the folks walking in, which were predominantly white, def had comments to make.l about his jacket. Wonderful city to be in! Great hospitality, non chain restaurants, shopping malls, boutiques, parks and so much more. Researching Buckhead, I found that it is one of the top neighborhoods to live, work, and play! Traffic in the morning, day, and evening was not a problem at all. Since the area is one of the nicest, prices for some things, can be a bit more than expected but overall not too crazy high either. read more

Some people love it, some people knock it upside and sideways with complaints, but Buckhead is my true Atlanta home. Born and raised here, and having lived everywhere from Smyrna (no, not Vinings, it was technically Smryna y'all) to Virginia Highlands, Midtown and Brookhaven, Buckhead will always be home to me. Atlanta has many great neighborhoods and pockets. All the real estate lingo has certainly added to the number of those in my 36 years on this planet, but true Buckhead is still its own little entity. I love that the Buckhead Business Association has their new project where local businesses buy "Bucks" decorated by local artists as a fundraiser (check them out at F20, Starbucks at the Peach, churches, etc). I love that I live right off Peachtree and can walk for exercise in my neighborhood (Peachtree Hills) or to run errands from groceries to hardware store needs to meeting friends for lunch or a drink at one of the awesome spots in the Peachtree Battle Shopping Center - and that the majority of the businesses in there like Woo Skincare, Festivity and Whitehall Tavern are locally owned. I love that I've got easy highway accessibility from multiple routes out of the house. I love that I've got restaurants from high to low- whether it's Paul's or Chops for a fancy meal or Jalisco or In Between for a quick lunch- so many options! I love that local businesses flourish here, from Fabr'ik to Raw Denim, to Souper Jenny. Pool Hall, and Henri's. Whether you're looking to eat, shop or drink, there's something for anyone and everyone. Traffic can be a pain - but that's true just about everywhere in Atlanta so other than the annoying work on Peachtree by the malls, it's not a Buckhead-specific problem. I'm excited about the hopefully-finally-taking off status of the former Streets of Buckhead, and look forward to seeing good things ahead for my 'hood. read more

Oppan Buckhead Style! I had to hurry up and write this review so I could use the Gangnam Style joke before Gangnam Style got too old. Buckhead is like an Georgian Gangnam. I was born and raised in Gangnam so I know what it feels like to be privileged and have a silver spoon in my mouth. I thought everyone in Korea had private drivers. I actually was dumbfounded when I found out my Korean friend's relatives did not have their own driver. So how is the Atlantan Gangnam? It's not bad. You have your high rise condos, expensive homes with elevators, mediocre but expensive restaurants, and cougars who look like aliens. In the 90's and early 2000's, Buckhead used to be the party town. Buckhead had the the strip where you can party in Tongue and Groove, Uranus, Coyote Ugly, Buckhead Bar, Mako's and so on. Thanks to the shootings with the gangbangers, that scene died. Now, in its place, lies a fancy condo. If you want to party in Buckhead, you have to head over to the East Andrews Area. Then again, I'm out of the party scene so I'm not sure if Buckhead has more party options. The traffic sucks, especially during rush hour--especially near the mall area. Since the party scene died down, at least it's not as crazy during weekend nights. I remember 10 years ago, on Friday and Saturday nights, driving through Peachtree and Pharr seemed like a nightmare. These days, I live too far to go to Buckhead. Usually, I just come for Yogurberry. But I do have good memories here, and it's not bad for being a poor-man's version of Gangnam. read more

I remember when Buckhead was a place to get drunk, get naked and party your ass off. Buckhead now is full of glorified pussies. Yeah, I said it. I lived in Buckhead for 5 years, right off of Peachtree Street. I was knee deep in the snob fest and proudly stuck out like a sore thumb! I was forced to dress up to go to Publix, wear 6 inch heels to go to Starbucks and curl my hair to go to Whole Foods. What happened to the days where throwing up on the sidewalk of East Paces got you in free at Fado? Going topless got you VIP and a swing in the window at Tongue and Groove and dancing/wading in the fountain in front of Nava was a necessary after last call? I was on the street past 3AM and was sprayed by the fire trucks! I sat next to Elton John at Johnny Rockets and sang "Benny and the Jets" totally off key! Where are the people that remember or...have blurry memories of the way it used to be? Now, Buckhead is a place to see and be seen. Dress in clothes you know you can't afford, drive a car you had to sell your soul for and have a sugar Daddy the age of your Grandfather to survive! Gone are the days when Buckhead was known for its night life and not the new Hermes store opening on the corner. Bring back the bar crawl not the sad dust bowl it has become!! read more

*100 reviews and going strong!* I used to think I was too cool for Buckhead. I remember the day work decided to move me onto Piedmont Rd. like it was yesterday. I remember thinking "Great, now I'm going to have to deal with stuck-up ass-hats all day"...and I do. What I was not expecting was the number of awesome people I've met and the good times I've had here. Buckhead has a lot going for it. Some of our nicest restaurants call Buckhead home. Definitely some of our most pricey ones anyway. I feel comfortable saying that Buckhead has the two fanciest malls in Georgia. As far as a neighborhood goes, it's fairly transit accessible with Buckhead, Lenox and Lindbergh stops. I love seeing shows at the Roxy (you will always be the Roxy to me, Buckhead Theater). The bars are fun. I'm about to make a sweeping generalization but for the most part they are post-college age, kind of preppy and always a good time. If you look out across a crowded bar here it will probably look like a flock of polos has nested on top of a sea of khaki pants. Also a great part of town to meet cougars. So there's that. While it's not as wild as some other neighborhoods, Buckhead knows how to get down. If Atlanta was an ice cream shop then Buckhead would probably be vanilla, but sometimes vanilla is the right flavor. You know I love you Buckhead. read more

Before I moved to Atlanta in July '07, I had only visited the city twice. I knew that I would be working in Buckhead, but beyond that, I didn't know a lick about Atlanta's neighborhoods. I know that everyone loves to rag on Buckhead (which is why I chose it for my 100th review), but for me, it has been a great place to live. I have a short commute to work, my cost of living is reasonable, and I feel safe despite the lack of walkability in this uptown 'hood. No, I don't shop on daddy's dime and no, I'm not a Buckhead Betty. In fact, I work next to Lenox and Phipps but I can't even tell you the last time that I was at either mall. However, it's pretty cool to think about how many upscale boutiques Buckhead has, and it's impressive that they do more than 1bn in sales each year. Buckhead offers easy access to MARTA (which is only good when it comes to getting to the airport and Braves games), has quite a few nice hotels, and more than a handful of good restaurants. I love Chastain Park and its Amphitheater, the Buckhead Library, and our two movie theatres. Yes, Buckhead Village and its dive bars encourage post-college debauchery and a delay in entering adulthood, but that's a choice. I've realized that there is no such thing as a neighborhood that has everything. Buckhead isn't known for its night life for anyone over 25, but I've come to accept that. For now, Buckhead shows promise of things to come (Streets of Buckhead, Buckhead Greenspace) and I'm happy to call it my home. read more

I figured a good follow-up to my review of Atlanta (my 300th Yelp, by the way) would be to talk about Buckhead... my 'hood. Well, technically I live in Garden Hills, which is a neighborhood in Buckhead. I moved here 3 years ago and I didn't think I wanted to live in Buckhead. You know, the traffic... the clubs... the traffic... Fortunately I made a pretty good investment when I bought my condo because a block away they demolished all of the clubs to make room for The Streets of Buckhead and across the street the Atlanta International School tore down all of the old apartments to expand their athletic field. Looks like the neighborhood is turning up. Thanks to newly redesigned traffic patterns I rarely get caught in gridlock (seriously... it's happens so infrequently that I get surprised when cars start to back up during rush hour). I wish there were a few more things to do at night... well, other than eat. Actually, even if there were some clubs open I'd probably still go to Midtown to be with the gays. Overall I enjoy living here and it seems to only get better. Now if only my property taxes would stabilize. That would make it awesome. read more

Zip code 30305 is the most affluent area of the Southeast: Buckhead is its beating heart. When I was an angst-fueled teenager stuck out in the middle of West Cobb, I would fantasize about what life would be like in Buckhead. Living in one of those posh mansions on West Paces Ferry, driving to steak dinners at Chops in our swanky car, or cruising down Peachtree Street to Midtown...it all seemed like a dream. Now that I'm living off Roswell Road -- only 5 minutes from the Buckhead Bar triangle, the best shopping in the city, and beaucoup restaurants, the new Buckhead Theatre, and plenty of scene to relish in -- y'all better believe I'm never leaving. A lot of people have beef with Buckhead. First off, they can suck it. I'll be the first to admit that there are a lot of reasons not to like Buckhead - budding private school frat-stars buzzing West Paces Ferry in jacked-up SUVs being only one of them. As I see it, there are two kinds of Buckhead natives: (1) the kind that everyone immediately thinks of (i.e. the oblivious 40-something business dad, the trophy wife he met at UGA, and their 1 or 2 tan and athletic children), and (2) the kind that feels a twinge of guilt on behalf of the above group every time someone from another part of Atlanta asks where they're from and they have to say, apologetically, "Buckhead, I guess." So to all the people messing up Buckhead's street cred: STOP BEING DOUCHES. To everyone else: if you can make it past the conservative yardsigns, landscaping trucks, and Stepford wives, don't count Buckhead out. There IS cool stuff here. read more

I remember Wender and Roberts, went to North Fulton HS in the late 40's, the record shop where we went to hear the latest big bands and Nan Blackstone (risky), pick races out Roswell Rd. Buckhead is my home. I have lived here for 3 or 4 years and for 2 years before that I hung out in the area. Everything you want is right here. Rarely do I drive beyond a 5 mile radius. The people are cool, friendly and diverse. Plenty of parking compared to midtown and literally right in the middle of the city. Tons of new construction so it is continually growing. You have all classes of people from the filthy to the filthy rich. You never know what you are going to find. I just bought a house so i'll be here for quite a while. read more

Yin and Yang We had an absolutely wonderful time at a close friends wedding tonight here in the NE Buckhead area of Atlanta. After the wedding reception was complete a large group of wedding guests decided to go to Fado's Irish pub in Buckhead to continue the celebration. Once down in Buckhead we found an open "Handicap" parking slot in a parking lot on Pharr Road at the (Pharr Road Shopping Center). We parked in a clearly marked Handicap slot because we had a person with a Handicapped parking permit with us, went into Fado's and when we came out an hour later our car was booted - even though the handicap parking permit was quite clearly showing from our rearview mirror. The Company that booted our car is named "Empire Parking Services". We called the Atlanta Fulton County Police Department about the problem, and when their officers arrived all they could say was "talk to your city councilman!" It is unbelievable "Empire" is allowed to do this - even over the police asking them why. We had to pay a $75.00 extortion fee to "Empire" to get them to unboot our car, and because of them we now won't make it home until after 3 AM. We don't live in the "city of atlanta" so we have no idea who the councilman are to even bring this issue to. Certainly we rightly assumed that a State DMV provided handicapped parking permit displayed in a handicapped parking spot would be sacrosanct to parking boots. Quite evidently not the case in today's world of greed in Atlanta! In today's world the City of Atlanta has empowered companies that are total scumbags like "Empire Parking Services" to be granted immunity to do as they please --- even directly in the face of other laws. We called the credit card company to disallow this charge, and will now be doing all possible to have this companies license to steal revoked! We want our fellow Atlantans to be aware that "Empire Parking Services" is a renegade company run by people that do not observe the law, or even have common decency; and to avoid them at all costs when visiting Atlanta! If anyone has additional ideas for us on how to post this in a way that it will receive more attention and put more pressure on "Empire" -- Please let me know. Thanks! read more

The good life or the rich side of town is the best way to describe it. Maybe to me cause i seen worse neighborhoods. You roll through Buckhead and you see shiny buildings, restaurants, and a lot places to shop. While most may go the lenox area, i favor by roswell rd by the Buckhead 05 luxury apartments. Lots a nice looking ladies too. The only issue i tend to see is Traffic. People driving crazy like their in California or New York on narrow streets. Probably easy for someone to get road rage. Horns always honking. You definitely have to watch other drivers. Other than that i can say i feel good most times I'm in Buckhead. Funny i went to school on the north side back in the day and really paid much attention to Buckhead. Guess i didn't see it that way.
