I've stayed in rustic motels before, but there's a difference between rustic and neglected. I mean, how much does it cost to replace a curtain rod? When you're the only game in town, you don't have to try that hard, I guess. I had no choice but to stay here (emergency situation), but if I had a choice, I wouldn't.

They drove up from El Cajon and were turned away even though I went up and vouched for them. Management hasn't got a clue as we were with a group that had total of 9 trailers. They are going to lose our future business. They were so worried about other people in the campsite they didn't think about us as a paying customer or our satisfaction. Also We reserved our campsite months ago and didn't even get the campsite that they initially gave us. They gave us a different one and it had no fire ring or table...Disappointed camper!!!

With the Introduction of the trolley that the city of Santee was against the Idea of the San Diego Trolley coming to the city of Santee with the station in the middle of the town. City of Santes has been one that has extensive history prior to joining the Union in September 9, 1850, California was governed at different times by both Spain and Mexico. Today remains of the Spanish Influence can still be seen in the Old Historic Misson Dam Site at the west entrance of the city. With the many years that you find that the city of Santee has the well-designed shopping mall with the many department's stores with the large Target that is located near the Trolley which you can access through the main parking lot. The many changes in the season that you can in the city of Santee and the color of the leaves that change color at Santee Trolley Town Center. The original history of Santee was part of Rancho El Cajon, a Mexican era rancho grant owned by the family of Don Miguel de Pedro Rena, a Calif Ranchero and the singer of the California Constitution. Santee Town center has so many years to see the true history of Santee and the many surrounding areas to see Santee's back history. The design of trolley the Green Line that services from the 12th and imperial is one that has brought so much to Santee. As a yelp Elite Reviewer that when the Trolley was being Introduced to Santee it was an issue that Santee had stated they didn't want the problems that would come from the trolley. After the many years the trolley has changed the look of Santee making travel much easier for those that go to work in Downtown San Diego. With Santee Town Center has been one place that has surprised so many with the many retails and grocery stores that are located close by. In closing with the end of the year Santee Town Center has been an excellent location with the many new bus routes to help with connecting to the San Diego Trolley Green Line. Lake Morena RV Park is in town away from the county park and the lake. We went to the office to ask…read moreif we could look at the property but sign said they were out in the park. The office is very cute with lots of pictures and signs to check out. We drive through the park. It had a number of sites but it was tight turning with the truck and extremely difficult with a trailer. There were some trees, bushes and flowers. The trailers that were there look like they had been there a long time. We never did see the camp host or worker from the office. We saw the building that held the laundry, restrooms and showers which was very cute. The pros of the park is that you wouldn't be limited to the 21 days of the county park. The cons were the size of sites and limited facilities. While the idea of being close to our home park in a cooler climate would be nice, I think will keep moving down the road to find other parks.

This place fills up fast but we booked several months out and were able to choose our campsites…read morebased on proximity to the dumpsters, bathrooms, and even based on whether the sites had shade. We reserved campsites 89 and 90. Campsites were about $37 per night, after the reservation fee, and could fit a maximum of eight people in two tents. Several of us had car set-ups and when we called the reservation office, they confirmed that sleeping in the car wouldn't count towards the two tent limit. Each site also has two dedicated parking spots. If you have additional cars, it'll be $6 per car/night and there's overflow parking scattered around the campground. Quiet hours start at 10PM and all campfires must be out (no embers) by 11PM. The bathrooms were fine, considering this was a campground. Showers are coin-operated and you can get 4 minutes for 50 cents. Make sure to exchange your cash at the ranger station before the sun sets! From my friend group, I heard mixed reviews on the showers. It seemed like the girl's side had poor water pressure and usually was cold. But both times I showered, I had decent pressure and the water eventually turned warm. There's also potable water throughout the campground, with a specific spout with filtered water (for taste). Our campsites were pretty great especially site 90. It's flat and right under a huge tree so it was the perfect spot to hang out and escape the sun. For tents, the ground was kind of rocky so make sure to bring a pad or air mattress if you can. Each site comes with a table and a fire pit. For firewood, you have to purchase from the campground because they don't want you to accidentally introduce any invasive species. Overall, great campsite with decent bathrooms! We didn't get a chance to explore the campground and the trails around it so I would love to come back one day. Oh and dogs are allowed as long as they're on a leash!

First time at this campground! It's been a while since I've been camping, but this campground seems…read moreto be much nicer compared to what I remember from campgrounds I've been to in the past. The bathrooms were clean and fully stocked with toilet paper and free tampons on the women's side. There were 2 men's and 2 women's showers at the bathroom closest to our site. One of the women's showers didn't have the best water pressure and sprayed more of a mist...but the other was fine. Neither appeared to have warm water, but it wasn't freezing either, so it was bearable. We heard the men's showers did have warm water though. Showers were 50 cents for 4 minutes, and then you could add additional quarters to add on 2 minutes each. There were spigots and bottle refill stations too near the campsites. I'd probably avoid the sites right next to the restrooms unless you want to hear toilets flushing, the loud hand dryer, and foot traffic throughout the night.  There were plenty of trees so most of the campsites around us at least had at least some shade during the daytime. The only issue I really noticed was that some campgrounds were pretty close together so you will probably hear noise from neighboring sites. There was plenty of parking too, but these were also close to the sites, so one night we heard the sound of cars constantly locking throughout the night. Not the biggest issue though and you should probably bring earplugs while camping if you're a light sleeper. Overall, these campgrounds are nicer than a lot of other ones I've been there where you have to drive into town to shower. The tradeoff though is that with the nicer facilities and proximity to neighboring sites, it doesn't feel as remote and sort of feels like you're one step away from civilization. So maybe not the best place to camp if you're looking for a more true camping experience.

I did an internet search on places to picnic & fish and found Lake Moreno. We finally decided to go…read moresee what was there. I was surprised to find that Lake Moreno was 3,000 feet and would be 68 degrees for its high today. Lake Morena is the highest in elevation and the most remote of the San Diego's reservoirs. You go through the guard gate and stop at the Ranger Station to pay for day use parking, fishing and boat rentals. If you bring your own boat or float tube, they do a check for, the invasive, zebra mussels. You can also get a card for entrance to all county parks. There are restrooms and a really nice little museum at the ranger station that is worth stopping to see. You drive into the park and pass a cute little children's playground and a youth area. It would be a fun place to let kids play at the lake. You see the lake as you drive farther in. You can see the darkened area on the dam where the water level was so much higher in the past. The dam dates to the late 19th century and, when it was full, the lake had a depth of 157 feet. San Diego (and all CA are in a huge drought causing serious water shortages) withdrew 2.1 billion gallons water from the reservoir causing the lake to drop to its current 83 feet. As you drive, you pass an lower boat launch where the water level is now and a upper launch where it prior, you can see how different the lake is today. There are cabins to rent and many other camping areas nearby the entrance to the Lake. The cabins are really barebones-you need to even bring a air bed or topper for the wooden frames to both the double bed and the bunk bed in each cabin. They are cute and would be fun to stay. Lake Morena is one of San Diego's reservoirs holding water for the city. Not sure if it's true but-they reduced the lake water level to half to fill a lake for the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, I was told by someone who's camped here for years. The lake is below 50% level and this caused it to get warm and cause an algae bloom. Fishing is not great except for carp and maybe catfish. Boating was fun although since the lake is down, it's much smaller leaving less places to go. The boat launch has many row & motorboats to rent. The lake was extremely green. Maybe a spring turnover or algae bloom. You can't swim-and I wouldn't if I could! I still recommend Lake Morena- Reservoir very much for a day to be on the water or just relax or spend a few nights where it's cooler than being in the desert!

Got day passes for my partner and I on a Sunday for my bday. Got there around 10:30am to make sure…read morewe could get lounge chairs and I'm happy to report that not only did we secure them with great ease, there were at least a couple available lounge chairs around us all day. I've heard its not always like that though so we planned accordingly. Even on a hot summer day in August, we were extremely comfortable lounging here for 6+ hours. We soaked in the Solstice pool on and off throughout the day, laid around on the large and very comfy lounge chairs, ordered delicious drinks at the bar which was just a few steps away (partner loved the cocktails, I loooved the mocktails), and munched on the yummy food they will deliver to you at the pool. They do some cute things like periodically bringing around chilled towels, or frozen grapes, which we may or may not have become obsessed with and making our own ever since...oh and some great musicians were playing that they said was an impromptu performance. Really lent nicely to the atmosphere. Overall, a great way to spend a birthday! Resting, recharging, luxuriating, and unplugging. Would recommend. *Shoutout to Ingrid who checked us in and gave us a lovely tour of the facility which really helped alleviate my anxiety about figuring everything out :)

A group of ladies and I decided to visit here to access the hotel Hot Springs and mineral pools…read more You want to make sure that you get mineral sunscreen when you're in these facilities. This protects the fidelity of the mineral water pools. When you first walk up, there is a check-in camper. When you go in, they'll give you the information that you need for your room and stay. We opted to rent one of the private homes because of our group being larger. It was about a 2 block walk away from the resort which wasn't bad at all. The town is very small and you can literally count how many businesses are here. It's pretty cool. It was a very nice visit and I highly recommend coming to this resort and hotel. The 2 mineral hot springs pools are nice. I recommend that you upgrade with a stay so that you have access to the secluded pool, which is really private and a level up. People get day passes, but that only works at the main pool. The main pool gets very, very crowded with day pass attendees. Again, I highly recommend upgrading with a stay so that you have access to the very very nice amenities. There is a restaurant, called Long Shadow, and I'll have a separate review for that. Overall, this was a wonderful and great trip.
