The food was marvelous, thick juicy hamburgers with all types of toppings, usually cost $10.99-12.99 but they have daily specials. Yesterday, Wednesday, was hamburger and fries special for 7.99. Fries were homemade. They also had barbecue sandwiches, ribs and all types and sizes of steaks. They had quite a few other entrees also. The service was good, could have used more employees but our waitress was fantastic at keeping up and refilling drinks, it was interesting interior made me think of Bass pro, Cabelas or Shields with animal heads and antlers. Buck's BBQ is in Sedan Kansas, halfway between Wichita and Tulsa on highway 99. We stopped off there to have some of their tasty BBQ. Although they were out of ribs due to the coronavirus, we were able to have great chopped beef sandwiches topped with hot link sausage, a side of fried okra and some delicious pecan cobbler. If you're hungry they have a great selection of steaks. We've been there twice and both times of food and service have been excellent. And I guess I should say there were plenty of sanitizer wipes and the staff were wearing masks. read more

First the good: The brisket and chicken were both very good. The macaroni and cheese was great. I would say it's the best mac and cheese I've had from a bbq joint in years. And I noticed another reviewer mentioned twice about how strange it was that a bbq restaurant didn't have sweet tea. Well, they must've seen her review and remedied that because I had very good sweet tea. And my wife thoroughly enjoyed her mushroom and swiss cheeseburger. We ate there around 2:30 in the afternoon and it was so filling that she didn't get hungry again for the rest of the day. And our server did a great job. The bad: I only had two complaints and would much rather leave 3.5 stars instead of 3, but that's not an option. The first complaint was the appetizer. The cheese curds were burnt. My wife said they were the worst she's ever had and not worth the amount we paid for them. The second complaint was the barbecue sauce on the table. I didn't try to spicy sauce so it may have been perfectly fine, but I am suspicious that the regular sauce on my table may have been spoiled because it tasted like beer smells. That probably wouldn't bother people who drink, but I don't, and so it was the first time I've ever had to try and scrape off the sauce I've already put on my meat. Overall, I would probably return again if I just happened to be in Sedan again at the time I was hungry, but I wouldn't make a special trip from Coffeyville just to eat there. (And that says a lot because I am well known among my friends for my willingness to drive 2-3 hours each way just to eat somewhere.) read more

The food was a 5. I had medium rare steak and it was cooked to perfection. My mother and I were having a final dinner together before I headed back to North Texas. My sister had just passed away and I had my laptop with me working on some final details. Everything was fine until about 5 minutes after our waitress Kaylee delivered our food. She came by the table and asked if we wanted to check how much our bill was so far. I was a bit taken aback because we had just started to eat - I got a feeling she was assuming we could not afford our meal or that she thought we were check-runners. Perhaps I looked a little tired and worn out because of dealing with the death of my young sister but I was dressed like anyone else there. Prior to that question, she had come by our table every other 30 seconds it seemed. I asked her why she asked us that and she came up with a bunch of excuses. She claimed her grandparents use to ask for their check amount periodically as they dined. Who the heck are her grandparents and what do they have to do with me and my mom? Do I look like I'm unaware of where I am? How insulting. I couldn't even look at the waitress after that. Shortly after this incident, the manager was going around making contact with the customers. I explained what had happened with our waitress and she claimed they do that when they are really busy because customers are always looking for their servers to pay. I thought nice try. Your waitress has been at our table 2 times a minute since we arrived. We're not looking for her and our plates are entirely full. I was not buying her lie and they were both very insulting to our intelligence. There were a number of customers around us and this waitress never once asked them about checking how much their bill was "so far." What a shame to have experienced this. When I did ask for the bill, Kaylee tried to add $50 of food that belonged to the people behind us. I did tip the waitress a decent proper tip for the benefit of the doubt that perhaps she was new and had no couth and her manager lied for her or her manager actually has the policy to ask as they go. If they read this, I suggest you have people pay as they walk in like they do at Springcreek BBQ or you end this insulting practice. I welcome you to come to Texas. We'll serve you up all night long and hand you a bill at the end as normal restaurants do. We don't ask if you can afford your food, insult your age or make you pay as you go in a restaurant such as yours in my state. read more

We like to dine out, especially if the food and service is better than OK, this time (our 5th time) what a disappointment for me - my order was wrong in the sides but another had my side (a upgrade to bake potato) so that was an easy fix - swapping these--, except the potato was really shy on both Butter and Sour Cream plus wasn't warm enough to even melt the butter - & asked for more and received OK & ate it anyhow ... now for the real issue, I ordered Sliced Brisket, as the last time I did was moist and tender -- I got Chopped so called Brisket, was dry, tough to chew and ate less than 1/2 & took balance to our pet dogs (they loved it of course) -- then the bill - I thought swapping out sides would get some kind of discount or maybe break even since no two side, but one baked potato -- ah ha full price was charged -- hum - so am thinking both the wait staff (Alissa) and kitchen needs to do a much better job - all other times I would rate either a 3 or 4 star, but no where close on any would be a 5 ... maybe some training is needed in customer service. Bottom line - will be a couple months or more before returning for an evening meal -- Key this visit was the Prime Rib -- just average, but better than many places we've tried in the area. read more

Coke products for drinks, always a plus for me! The bf ordered iced tea and was not impressed--we are both fussy tea drinkers and demand lots of bright flavor which few restaurants achieve in Kansas. Slaw was above average--most likely made in house--cream based. Obligatory pickle spear was soggy. BF's brisket was more likely roast than brisket--lacked the character of brisket, but was good. Salad was pretty good for a small town, bagged iceberg but have cucumbers, onion and tomato--blue cheese was a winner--chunky and delicious. Service was good. Didn't sample the desserts although several were listed. Table next to us shared a piece of coconut cream and it was fresh from a box--Really??
