Stoped a few times on the trail for a beer. Great new space, not the tired old bar. Decided to take my wife for lunch, very picky. She decided that it has the best burgers in town. Had the brisket burger and onion rings. Great food and fair prices. Try it!! Rainy day a good day to get out for lunch. Was nice to see that the restaurant has maintained the clean look of a new remodeling. The food and service still excellent. We will continue to return for this great local business . I'm so torn about this review. First of all it's the best old fashioned I've had in a long time. The bartender was awesome. The server we had didn't seem to know what she was doing. We ordered apps and after 40 min we still Didn't have them. We asked and they acted as if we were crazy to be asking. When we finally got them after an hour. We were less grumpy and less starving but another 20 went by and we didn't get our three burgers or the fish fry we ordered. We asked again and the owner was super annoyed that we were asking why we hadn't gotten burgers in almost 90 minutes. Finally a waitress came by and said our burgers were on the grill. Another 10 went by and two come out and the fish fry and they tell us the third burger had a problem in the kitchen. What?! Finally they bring it out. And as my mom is not even finished the owner comes by and asks her if she can box it up For her cause they had people waiting for our table!? How rude!!!!! I want to give this place two stars. We have tried several times and always end up with the waitress with the terrible attitude. Just called this evening before going over to have pizza. Hours state they are open until 11 but were rudely told unless we ordered immediately and made it take out that they were closing the kitchen. I love lake perch, something I can't easily get where I live. In Eagle River for a couple days, I headed to BuckShot's, where I'd found reviews and online menus mentioning a 5-piece perch basket and an 8-piece perch platter. The presumably new menus we were presented had no mention of baskets or platters -- but did offer Lake Perch, in either 1/2-pound or 3/4-pound plates. I ordered the larger and was soon served three pieces of fish -- what kind of fish I can't say but it was definitely NOT lake perch! These filets were 10 inches long, nearly twice the size of the largest perch, and certainly didn't taste like perch. By the time our waitress returned to check on us, we'd gone ahead and eaten the fish, as it was already late in the evening. I did bring up that what we were served was not lake perch, to which she kept responding, "You didn't like it?" which was not what I was saying or the point. I was not looking for a refund but was just making the point that it was not what I ordered. She came back after alerting the kitchen to our concerns, to say "They say that's the same perch they've served for years," which seems highly unlikely -- eight pieces of a small fish like perch makes sense; serving eight (or even) five pieces of these large filets does not. Just be warned: You will not get lake perch here. read more

We also ordered the homemade potato chips - unbelievably good! Must order and with ranch dressing. Great tap beer selection. Widow maker black and Pick axe blonde were fabulous. We split a whiskey old fashioned. It was perfect. I wish we could drink more old fashioneds but someone had to drive home. Please visit this establishment, drink, and eat. Quite disappointed. Had wanted to try this place for some time and finally did. I had a burger which was slightly undercooked and my wife had an appetizer sampler and a bowl of soup. The soup could hardly have been called soup as it was mostly a purse. The appetizer basket was so so, clearly items that had been fried up from a box from afrozen commercial food service. So instead of my usual perch that is deep fried and comes with coleslaw, potato salad, beans and rye bread, I ordered broiled cod. Instead of all the above sides I asked if i could have a side salad. Their burgers are juicy. My family always orders to go. Even when busy they still get seem to have it ready within 30 minutes. My family loves dipping in cheese, always order tons of cheese, and they never deny it. Only problem I have is when I ask for crispy fries, they are extremely soggy. This is an okay up north food spot! I have been here twice now and both experiences have been okay. We tried one of their specials (a burger) over the weekend and it was decent. It came with fries and we had some chips for the table to split-the dipping sauces seemed very "fake" to me. The waitress was okay, she didn't know the specials or the beers and they don't do a beer list because they change them too frequently. I will go back to try some pizza and give it another shot! Stopped in at their downtown location for an appetizer and drinks on a summer Saturday afternoon. We were told they weren't serving food because everyone that works there was in the other side of the bar. And they had food! Both of the bartenders seemed to have had several drinks themselves. So good we went back for seconds during our long-weekend vacation. The space was well-built and maintained, making it extremely comfortable to sit and eat on a cold night. The chicken wings were nice and crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Honestly, the best chicken wings I've had. The grilled cheese was just golden enough on the outside and melt in your mouth goodness on the inside. The pizza had just the right amount of cheese and the crust was so soft. Half of the restaurant is closed due to staffing and the person in charge pointed out their sign first thing indicating that there is limited staffing and the wait for food would be long. It was, indeed, a long wait. We ordered burgers, which were OK, and it took more than an hour. Place was packed on this Monday as many places are closed on Mondays. This place had been closed and I don't drive through Eagle River as often as I used to, so I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least, to find such a vibrant saloon now open just north of Eagle River. I asked the bartender and he said they had been open for two years; it looks like new inside and it has a great Northwoods feel. The staff was friendly and hustling to keep up with demand (but I never had to wait for more than a minute or two to get my glass refilled). We have been going to the North woods for twelve years and missed this place, as well as it's predecessor. The current establishment was opened in July 31 of 2016 and kept the same name. We will not miss it again. We had a group of ten, on a Tuesday night, and ordered a number of items on the menu. All was very good! The homemade chips (must order), bloody Mary's (loaded), old fashioneds, pizza, perch, side salad (with chicken) and brisket burgers.
