First off, the staff, are absolutely wonderful! I don't know where I wanted to camp and since I had not been there before, I was allowed to drive through and check out all of the dry campsites before I chose. You're surrounded by nothing but natural beauty no matter where in the park you're staying! There are amazing grass areas to let your dog go potty! There is a store at the front. It has everything g from firewood to candy and water. Next time I will be choosing a site with power and water but for now the dry camping is amazing! read more

We camped here beginning of February 2026. Right now there is construction going on, so there is an excavator that is working from early am until 2-3pm. If you're looking for peace and quiet, you won't get that here right now. Constant noise.....don't know if this is a long term project or something that will be done quickly. People are told when they arrive, don't cut thru peoples campsites.....just had a woman walk right next to our rv. read more

We have been coming here since the 80s. I get that times change, but this place really has gone down since the new takeover. The River water is not the same, it leaves a strong moldy smell on you... The shower water is worse. Horrible rotten smell, I had to leave it was so intense. Could not watch tv in our Rv, no signal. Trees are cut down so you get no shade at your Rv site. The main store has moved. I can see why it was near empty, and it's summer. Sad. And as I'm writing this, some family just pulled up two sites away from us, setting up a tent. It's 8:00 pm, and the site is for rvs. I looked up on your website, and the space has not been booked. So anyone can just come and mooch for free. I don't feel safe. Can't call the park, it's closed. And your website says you're open 24 hrs. Nice. read more

Buckskin State Park is still cool. We miss the restaurant but the rest of the park is still cool. The boat ramp Is falling into the river also but we don't launch here so it worked out. The grass, landscape, and views are still one on the best on the river. The hiking trails are also nice, safe and protected from off roaders etc. it's not too far from River Island market which still has the wagon wheel pizza along with other deli favorites, alcohol, soda, etc. it is right actually the river from Big Bend Restaurant and bar which has live music, great food and the arcade that always made the old Buckskin restaurant market and arcade fun. read more

Buckskin has great access to the Colorado River and well-maintained trails. There are beach access points all around the park, providing opportunities to fish, swim or paddleboard. I paddleboarded around the park and was stunned at the clarity of the water. It seemed like, even at the points of the river that were 20 feet deep, I could clearly see the bottom. There were a lot of drop-offs in the river with large patches of weeds that seemed like underwater forests. I saw one bass. In addition to all the natural beauty under the water, I also saw all the garbage that had been hurled into the river. Apparently, Arizona doesn't have enough "No Dumping" signs even though my wife and I always joke that there are "No Dumping" signs around every corner. Overall, it was a great paddleboard session. The trails at the park are quite impressive. Once you cross the bridge over the main road, the trails wind their way along the mountain ridges. The scenery is breathtaking, or oppressive, depending on how much you like desert mountains and the sun. Don't expect much vegetation. This system of trails is one of the best in the area. read more

Sometimes I enjoy watching adventures. Many times I enjoy staring in adventures surrounded by western landscapes. This week I made Buckskin Mountain State Park my western adventure. Buckskin Mountain is a 1,677 acre park at a 420 foot elevation. It is on the Parker Strip 12 miles north of Parker, Arizona and 25 miles south of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Arizona Route 95 is the ribbon of concrete through the park. The Colorado River is the ribbon of water alongside the park. The park is surrounded by the Buckskin Mountains to the east in Arizona and the Whippie Mountains to the west in California. The first sight people see when entering the park from a sharp curve is the Colorado River. A few feet ahead is the Ranger station. From there the parking lot borders the Colorado River to the left, cabins and camping facilities ahead, and a small mountain to the right. Buckskin Mountain State Park is ideal for all kinds of recreation. There is a boat ramp for boaters, volleyball court, playground, and camping facilities. The river is ideal for fishing. I started out on the beach looking at the Colorado River and the informative cactus garden. The recreation of choice on the Colorado River is jet boating. My recreation of choice is hiking. Near the Ranger Station I stepped onto the Lightning Bolt Trail. By means of railroad ties it brought me up the small mountain overlooking the park. It ended at a scenic view across the Colorado River toward the Whippie Mountains. Backtracking I turned onto the Buckskin Trail. The Buckskin Trail is a 1-mile loop up then down steep bluffs. Once I crossed the concrete bridge over Arizona-95, I was in a western painting brought to life. Each step up the railroad ties and sandy hills brought me closer to the vistas of the Buckskin Mountains and clouds. Deeper into the scenery it met up with the Mines Trail and Interruption Point Trail. The Mines Trail is a 1/2 mile one-way trail reaching abandoned mines and the westernmost point of the park. It continues through a picturesque desert populated by rocks, creosote bush, Arizona Sage, and sparsely populated saguaro cactus. I'd lay sight of the occasional lizard and overhead bird (could be a turkey vulture). The highlight is Buckey's #3 Mine. It is a fenced off abandoned mine 25 feet deep into the earth. Before heading back to the Colorado River beach, I hiked up the breathtaking Interruption Point Trail. It ends at a picture postcard scenic view of the Colorado River with the Whippie Mountains in the background. This is a view that made me stop, corraborate, and listen. When I walked the Buckskin Trail back toward the Colorado River, I'd stop at the short spur trails leading to scenic views and absorb the plant life. If I had known I would of picked up a pamphlet from the Ranger Station that talks about the plants. I slightly regret this. But I do not regret wearing hiking boots. The hiking boots gave me confidence that I was not going to slip on a hill. Most of all I have zero regrets over my 2-1/2 hour Buckskin Mountain State Park adventure. Buckskin Mountain State Park is an adventure that will live in my memories. I recommend Buckskin Mountain State Park for an adventure near Lake Havasu City and Parker, Arizona and about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive from Las Vegas and Phoenix. Buckskin Mountain State Park is one of the most beautiful parks in Arizona. One reason the park is so beautiful. Is that the campground host keep great care of the park. The paid staff are absolutely amazing. Everybody at this park has done whatever we needed so that we could have an awesome day. The park is surrounded by the Colorado river. They have multiple showers and an outdoor sink. They have plenty of RV parking and dry camping as well. You can't beat the prices. Between $35 and $43. The refund policy is great. We come back each year. We have met people that have come back every year for 12 to 27 years. It is close to Parker Arizona, which has the Bluewater casino, Walmart, Safeway, post office, and other things. This is a must see. read more

Awesome camp ground outside of Parker, AZ. We stayed at site K which is a camping cabana right along the colorado river. The cabana was great because we had a place protected from the wind and sheltered from the heat (it was 85 in February!) to hang out and cook in. We also had the water within just a few yards! There is a great 3-5 mile hike (depending on the route you choose). Amazing views of the area. Parker, AZ is only about 10 minutes down the road and there is a Safeway and Walmart as well as some restaurants and shops. Lake Havasu City is about 20-30 minutes North with lots of things to do. Only thing that bothered me is that the water is not good to drink. It would have been nice if they had made bottled or filtered water more accessible so that we didn't have to go into town for that. I hate buying bottled water and wasting the plastic - so refill stations would be a good addition to this park someday. Otherwise it was awesome and we will definitely be back! read more

We always have so much fun here boating and floating. One of the best beaches to be on. The water level is perfect for the kids, I can walk about 40ft out and be waist level deep. The current is also not to bad, so I don't have a big fear of my kids floating away, haha. Great restaurant/arcade and store on site! Only downside was they don't have sewer hookups for my trailer but the beach is worth it. We just dump when we leave and use the facility showers that they keep pretty clean. read more

we enjoy our first time visit. it is a little tucked away from the 95 but once found the entrance, the views are spectacular!!! nice wide camp sites, with convenient showers nearby with hot running water. our doggo also enjoys the enclosed dog park. the kiddos love the water in our inflatable raft. only thing that prevents it from 5stars is lack of Wifi signal. oh, and the smell from the sewage facility could be over powering for the camp sites near it but fortunately we were not near it. read more

Went for Labor Day weekend and had a great time. Spots are spacious, and the grounds are well kept. The only thing is that very few spots have sewer, so you either have to use their bathrooms or the dump station. The good thing is they have options. Unfortunately we found out that they are bulldozing the store/restaurant on the grounds and will be relocating across the river. Too bad because it was so convenient. Will still definitely go back. Buckskin Mtn State Park is a beautiful little state park nestled between a small mountain and the Colorado River. The campground is small, the spots placed tightly together (you will for sure get to know your neighbors) - but in turn is only a short walk to the beach, river and some hiking! Price was cheap - $30/night that included electric and water, with a free dump station near the river. They also had free showers. We found that the spots in the middle of the campground were more shaded, whereas ours (#18) had no shade - which was tough when it was 90+ degrees each day. We found ourselves moving our chairs around our fifth wheel as the sun moved to keep in the shady spots - which worked out just fine. I would also try to avoid spots #16-17, 22-23 as they were next to a water treatment area and there was a pretty strong odor every time we walked by the area. The bathrooms were OK - nothing I would jump at showering in, but not disgusting, either. They worked fine for rinsing off all of the sand after a day at the beach! WIFI/CABLE: We saw many people struggling to get their satellite dishes to work to get a decent antenna. Can't speak more on that though - we go cable free! They also had free wifi- however it did not reach our site. One of the rangers let me know that if you stand near day-site #1 it's right by the transformer - so I did head over there once to upload a new book to my kindle and I was able to connect. A brisk 62 degrees, the river was chilly in mid-March, but we were able to get into about our knees to cool off here and there. A few musts: bring a shade (canopy cover of some sort), a tube or two (there is a Walmart right up the road with quite a few options for as low as $12), a rope (100ft will do just fine), a cooler, sunblock and some beach chairs - and you have the makings for a few fun days on the beach! Tie yourself off to a rock or tree - and float your afternoons away! We also saw people walk their tubes up to the top of the park, and free float all the way to the other end (*note* - we were told that on Thursdays they shut down the dam for maintenance, which reduced the current and water level - so this might not be your day to drift). Many people also came with their boats, there is a launch right at the campground and then they'd tie off right to the shore where we sat, walk about convenient! We spent our time on the "dog beach" - and although we have no dog, the beach was smaller and we were able to find some fun little spots to hang out for a day with some extra shade from the palm trees. Speaking of dogs - this campground is a dogs heaven for sure. There is a large, fenced in dog run area. Part of the beach is "dog friendly," and lots of grass and room to walk, run and play. This park also features a bar, restaurant, convenient store and swim shop all in one. The swim shop and convenient store opened the day we left (I walked through briefly, saw snacks, beer, some pots and pans, swim suits, tubes for the river, etc.) and the bar was set to open the following week - with huge signs boasting happy hour (4-7pm), $.50 hot dogs and pitchers for $4.99. The store also had a spot for inflating your tubes - but it wasn't open until the day we left, so I'd plan on bringing your own unless your positive the store is open when you visit! Great stop on the way up through Lake Havasu. We stayed one night. In a 30amp site. Thank goodness, the AC ran hard all night since not was so hot. The park is right on the river, we don't have a boat. If we did this would be a great place to base out of. We will just stick to future visits in cooler months. read more

We were camping at Buckskin Park a couple of weeks ago and left a part to my weather station in our camp site. We got a call from one of the people working in the office letting us know that they had the part in the office. They in turn mailed it to our home. What GREAT SERVICE. Hubby and I made reservation to stay here because all RV sites in Lake Havasu were full. We reserved a spot for five days and after three days we extended it another week. We just loved this little hidden park. The Colorado River bends around the park and during the day time there is lots of boating activity. The park has several miles of well marked trails to hike with resting benches at all the right places. The visitors center is run by very friendly and helpful volunteers. The washrooms were not modern but very clean and the grounds are kept clean and attractive. We stayed in a cabana right on the river and throughly enjoyed our first cup of coffee each day watching the sun spread across the river to the cliffs facing Buckskin. We will be back! read more

Pros: close to water, great views, not too expensive, staff was helpful, bathrooms decent Cons: no sewer hookup, my tent trailer AC breaker kept popping because not enough power (happened to other campers too) Would definitely go again but not on Labor Day weekend lol. Not sure what winter is like, but do not recommend kayaking here as there are too many motorized water crafts. read more

This place is great for being at the river. It is located along the Parker strip, a few miles before the Parker dam. We are from Orange county California and we can make it to the park or strip and 4 1/2 hours. We rented one of the day campsites cabana number "S" and it had a great view of the Colorado River. We used the boat launch to launch our Sea-Doos into the water and had them right in front of our campsite. I love to put my sea doo in the water here and go up to the Parker dam..... Seriously it is such beautiful scenery . This park is right in the middle of all of the action along the Parker strip and is a great place to just sit and relax and also watch all of the amazing boats go by. Lake Havasu city is about 20 miles north. They have a store and also a restaurant so you don't really have to leave the camp during the day to get anything. Park Rangers were chill. Location on the river and views can't be beat. read more

Place was nice for a campground with tree shade - noisy due to boats ... I wouldn't suggest staying here if you don't have a water toy (boat, jet ski) but it was a fine place to park a motorhome for the night with a nice view of the river . read more

Buckskin is a very nice park. Clean and pleasant staff. Our only problem was that when I make our reservation almost a year in advance, I did not know of the location of the sewage treatment plant located in the park. We had to leave early because of the constant stench. We were in site 16, two spaces away from the treatment plant. Please note that on the site map the sewage plant location is not indicated. We did get our money back for the two days when we chose to leave early. read more

Buckskin State Park is fabulous. Our site (#5) was up against a mountain with the Colorado River within a short walking distance. They just installed a very large fenced dog park. After 3 weeks of camping, our golden was able to run to its heart content. Volunteer staff at front entrance was very friendly and informative. Our site did not have sewer, but as we stayed just 4 days, no problem. They do have a nice dump station. We will be back. read more

We took our family on a trip to Buckskin State Park this past weekend and we had an amazing time. This is our first experience camping with a travel trailer so I don't have much to compare it to, but here are a few highlights: * The RV spots didn't feel like you were on top of each other. It's not a parking lot, there is quite a bit of grass by most of the spots. * You are right on the Colorado River and the kids really enjoyed wading in the river. * The lightening bolt trail was short and the perfect distance for young kids who like to go on nature walks * The showers were quite large, and could fit a family all showering at the same time. * The bathrooms were clean enough considering it's a camp ground * We weren't planning on eating at the on-site restaurant but the food was quite good. The had a happy hour with $1.49 margaritas and $3.50 beer pitchers. The pizza was way better than anything you would expect. * They have two onsite stores - one with clothing (Roxy, Volcom, Hurley, etc.) with somewhat reasonable prices for those brands. * The market has anything you could need for the trip, but the prices are quite hefty. * Our kids loved going to the ranger station and doing an activity book which earned them a "Junior Ranger Badge" * Our camp site had electrical and water hookups, and a dump station onsite for free. We were actually located right by the dump station and did not smell a thing. * There was a basic camp ground that entertained the kids quite a bit. Buckskin State Park is terrifying for the camper who likes seclusion, but if you give it a chance and have an open mind you won't be disappointed. The camp sits right on the river by a mountain where a great horned owl and her mate live. If you wake up early enough you can hear them calling to each other and people periodically spot them on the cliffside across from the camp. The female is huge. I call her the megla owl. The view is very pretty despite the hefty number of R.Vs. The camp sites sit under cabanas by the river so it kind of gives the camp a fun Jimmy Buffet feel. The cabanas are quite close together and the camp does play host to partiers, but at 10 pm the camp is perfectly silent aside from the occasional boat. The closeness and noise are well compensated for by the night sky! If you like looking at stars this park is a great place for it. The park plays host to a wonderful assortment of birds. If you watch the fences you may see a splash of kool-aid red. That is vermillion flycatcher. If you check out the septic field with the sprinklers there are a ton of rabbits. When we did our night hike we spotted a wood rat and a ringtail cat scaling the cliffside!! The rangers in the visitor center are very knowledgeable and friendly. The price is hefty, but if you have an open mind you will love this campsite. read more
