We enjoyed local restaurants, businesses geared toward freeway tourists and historical sites. With an 8 year old in tow we wanted some active playtime before loading up to head home. He had a blast! This park is clean, visitors clearly value this and are able to see garbage cans and use them! Hip hip Hooray a win for us all! Two shade covered play structures were a hit! Badminton net was in good shape, there seemed to be bourse shoe set up, a ball field with a stage in the outfield promised good fun! A dog park has its own Yelp Page. Skateboard basics , Basketball and More Restrooms located north of the dog park at first worried me... and perhaps there are hot summer days when they could be but the brick structure was not offensive! Cleanliness and full Toilet tissue, commodes which flushed adequately were much appreciated! Good ventilation and the fact that the interior of the ladies room was well lit. It is a safe park with two courthouses and the police department on the same street. You won't find a homeless problem here and no graffiti issues. Some of the things the park has to offer is a radio controlled car track, horseshoe pits, skate park, playgrounds, disc golf course, and even a fitness trail. The community has several functions in the park every year including a Veterans Day memorial event by the two big airplanes at the park's entrance. The park is open from sun up to sun set and several people use the park daily. The town does a great job in keeping the park up.

I managed to bookmark this spot thanks to Norm K's review. Following the directions, I lost reception near the dam. There was a sign by the road marking it as closed, and I was about to turn around when I saw another car heading that way, so I decided to follow. It turns out the dam itself was closed to pedestrians, so walking across wasn't allowed. However, you can park on either side of the dam and walk around to enjoy the views. There isn't much in terms of amenities--no visitor center, restrooms, or informational boards--but the scenery makes up for it. The views were beautiful, with barely anyone around, and the warm weather in this area was a bonus. If you're planning to take the 10 Freeway, chances are you'll pass by this dam.

5/5 -- London Bridge, Lake Havasu City…read more The London Bridge is easily a 5/5 attraction for me -- not only because of how beautiful the setting is today, but because the history behind how an actual piece of London ended up in the Arizona desert is pretty incredible. This isn't a replica. This is the actual granite exterior of the London Bridge that once crossed the River Thames in London, England. The bridge was designed by Scottish engineer John Rennie, completed in 1831, and served London for more than a century. By the 20th century, however, it could no longer adequately handle modern traffic and was actually sinking unevenly into the Thames. Here's where the story gets crazy... Lake Havasu City founder Robert P. McCulloch purchased the bridge from the City of London in 1968 for $2.46 million, intending to make it the centerpiece of the new community he was developing in the Arizona desert. The bridge's 10,276 exterior granite blocks were individually numbered, dismantled, shipped through the Panama Canal to Long Beach, California, and then transported by truck to Lake Havasu City. The original stones were then reconstructed around a modern structural framework. Even more interesting, the bridge was initially rebuilt over dry land. Afterward, the land beneath it was excavated and flooded to create the Bridgewater Channel that now flows beneath the bridge and separates "The Island" from the mainland. After three years of reconstruction, the London Bridge was officially rededicated in Lake Havasu City on October 10, 1971. Knowing all of that history makes seeing it in person so much cooler. But even if you knew absolutely nothing about its history, the setting itself is beautiful. The Bridgewater Channel, boats and jet skis cruising underneath, palm trees, surrounding mountains, restaurants and resorts along the waterfront all create a really unique atmosphere. We walked along the channel around sunset, and that's probably my favorite time to see it -- watching the sun drop behind the bridge and mountains with the reflections across the water was awesome. Then at night, it almost becomes a completely different attraction. The bridge is illuminated, the palm trees and surrounding waterfront light up, and the entire area has a great nighttime ambiance. From our vantage point overlooking the pools and marina, the illuminated bridge across the water was probably one of my favorite views of the entire weekend. It's also pretty amazing to think that something that carried Londoners across the River Thames beginning in 1831 now carries cars and pedestrians across a man-made channel in the middle of the Arizona desert nearly 200 years later. Historical significance: 5/5 Scenery: 5/5 Sunset views: 5/5 Nighttime ambiance: 5/5 Overall experience: 5/5 The London Bridge isn't just a quirky roadside attraction -- it's genuinely an impressive piece of history in an unexpectedly beautiful setting. In 1968, it was sold to an entrepreneur from Arizona. It was shipped to the United States brick by brick, reassembled, and then reopened in 1971. My brother was telling me that he actually got to walk across this same bridge when he was in London in the 50s as a kid. That is so cool. This was my first time seeing the bridge. It's great to see. The history is amazing. In addition to the bridge, they have an English village at the base of the bridge, with all kinds of neat shopping, restaurants, bars, etc. Lake Havasu is really big for boating, sightseeing, and other water sports. Lake Havasu city has gotten to be a very large resort town, with just about anything you need for shopping, dining, lodging, etc. I'd always wanted to see the bridge, I'm glad I finally made it here.

The garden has a story and is dedicated to the memory of a young girl who passed while living in Quartzsite several years ago. Over time it has transformed into a botanical garden and memorial for those who have passed on with ties to Quartzsite. While walking around the gardens I find the most unique things that people have done for their loved ones. If photography is your thing you will want to bring your camera. If sitting outside and reading is your thing you will want to bring a book. I would not really recommend this to be the place to bring the dog. Directions to get here are: Take Plymouth Rd north from the Town Park and just before you get to the Desert Flyers radio controlled airplane field you will see the signs posted with arrows directing you to the gardens.
