This was a double disappointment. Earlier this week I went to the Glenville location and the girl running the register was smoking near the door. She proceeded to come in, take my order and make my coffee without washing her hands. Very unsanitary. Today right before noon myself and two friends tried the Jay Street location. A man came to the register, I assumed to take my order. I began to say my order. He said in a tone "I'm clocking out." Proceeded to do so got himself a drink and walked away. I felt that to be very rude. He should have taken our orders then left. But I will say that the older lady who did help us was very personable and the young man cooking made us a nice lunch so luckily it ended on the positive. I ordered delivery. My bagel sandwich was skimpy and the bagel was trash. I was disappointed that the avocado was mashed instead of sliced, and the tomatoes and cucumbers are sliced like they're meant for a salad, not a sandwich. It was a goopy mess on the worst way. And the pesto? Nowhere in sight. This was a $16 sandwich which boggles my mind. Please save this order for somewhere like Twisted Bagels in Malta that will get it done better and cheaper. My one plus was the iced coffee was really good, hence three stars. So get a coffee, skip the food. read more

I went in on a Sunday morning - we were greeted immediately & the employee helping us was willing to answer questions about the menu. I ordered an Iced Cappy Latte [this is officially my new indulgence] and a classic bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant. While we waited, we sat at a table that serves as a gaming system where you can place quarters and play Pac-Man, etc. It was a fun, easy way to kill time. A nice spot for coffee and food. They have vegetarian items on the menu, including veggies sausage, which was great. The lattes were well done and the coffee was good. Especially, the Cappy Latte with cold foam. The breakfast sandwich was solid, except for the burnt veggie sausage. They don't have a large baked good selection and could probably up their scone & muffin game. I also got an impossible burger, which was good, except that they don't have hamburger buns. So, the burger was on toast. Odd. Interestingly, there is a burger place next door that sells veggie BLTs, but doesn't have toast, so I had that sandwich on a hamburger bun. I think they should swap 1 bag of burger buns and sandwich bread between the two places. read more

Grabbed some breakfast here while waiting for a train. It was very conveniently located and had a good amount of seating. They had a large menu with vegan and vegetarian options, as well as a "grab and go" breakfast sandwich station for those in a rush. The staff was very friendly and the food came out quickly. Today I had breakfast at "BUD's on Jay" in Schenectady, NY. My sister took me so I didn't know what the town had to offer as I was there visiting. When we walked along the quaint street, it was in a section of town that was full of art, theatre and history. The restaurant had a full menu of choices from coffees, wraps, sandwiches and platters. The prices were so reasonable and the staff was really kind. They brought great energy and allowed all to be served. The attention to details recognized. Once we order, we sat and when the food was brought to our table number, it was hot, fresh and good. It seemed like my hot breakfast sandwich was made with detailed care. I really appreciated that. The lemonade was just a little too sweet so I asked for water to dilute it some but it was good. The experience I had was a joy and I would definitely recommend it to those who are looking for a great place to sit and enjoy good food with fantastic ambiance. read more

I look forward to grabbing lunch here when I'm in town for work. The sandwiches are tasty and feel relatively healthy without a lot of grease which can be hard to find in smaller cafes like this. There is a decent drink selection as well, and the seasonal flavors are fun! Indoor and outdoor seating. It's also located on the cutest little courtyard street with string lights and lots of things to do nearby. I haven't tried the breakfast menu but my coworkers have recommended that as well. read more

It's fine. The coffee is basically just a milk shake with a bit of coffee in it. The food is ok. Youre likely to spend closer to or over 20$ vs under or closer to 10 for lunch. For the just ok quality it's kind of not worth it. You could spend the same amount at the Nest for a way better tasting meal. read more

The cafe has generous seating and many parking options on State Street and the LAZ lot on the south end of Jay Street. I visited to purchase whole beans because my normal coffee delivery was delayed. The barista was helpful showing me the options available for purchase . I asked if the Bourbon blend was ready to sample and she generously gave me a full cup to sample. I am really enjoying the Bourbon infused blend. The price is high for one pound $26 but the house bend was more reasonable. I also signed up for a reward program which is a nice perk. My wife and I went here to explore the town and its local breakfast spots. What a disappointment, service was slow (they were busy) so I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. However, it took over 25 minutes to get our food once it was ordered. It was also not clean at all, tables, chairs, etc. We both got avocados toast hers was just plain cream cheese and avocado, the avocado was not ripe so it did not taste well. The customer service here was really exceptional. From the moment I stepped up to the counter the employees took the time to insure they were taking my order correctly and even informing me of all the options they had available. I got a BEC on a croissant and it was actually a nice breakfast sandwich! It was filling and exactly what you want with a BEC- the croissant was a bit greasy, but nothing too too much. I visited Bud's on an almost weekly basis when I moved to Schenectady last summer. I used to visit Bud's in Troy before my move, so I was already familiar with their menu and enjoyed their coffee. The Schenectady location is comparable to the Troy location insomuch as the menus are the same, but the ambience is very different. The Troy location is spacious, whereas the Schenectady location is rather cramped. As such, it can be a little tricky to navigate when it's busy, especially on Sunday mornings in the warmer months when the nearby Farmers' Market is in full swing. This can often cause me some discomfort as I do not enjoy feeling cramped in small spaces. This discomfort is exacerbated when other patrons are indecisive about their orders while the rest of us are waiting to be seen. This happens all too frequently at Bud's and I have left on several occasions before ordering due to my frustration with how slow the line at the counter can move. I do not feel the slowness reflects in any way on the employees, who are all friendly and dedicated people, but the other customers who frequent this location can be quite irritating. In my opinion, this is not the sort of place to be leisurely or indecisive about your order, especially when the rest of us are deeply unpleasant people before we have had our coffee. In any case, I try to put up with the occasional discomfort because the coffee is truly excellent. I am a dedicated cold brew drinker, and Bud's is one of the few cafes that offers cold brew locally, and not cold brew in a can, cold brew they are preparing themselves. When it comes to food, however, I am not a fan. Their grab and go breakfast sandwiches used to be convenient for me on market days, but the quality of these sandwiches has taken a recent nosedive. I visited Bud's last Sunday and did not enjoy my sandwich one bit. I visited Bud's today and threw my sandwich away after taking one bite. The bagel was not toasted and was soggy, the cheese had not melted, the bacon was undercooked, and the sandwich had a strong taste of grease from a spray can. I am a self-confessed food snob. I admit it. But these last two sandwiches were scarcely edible. Overall, I can recommend Bud's for their coffee if they aren't too busy. I cannot recommend their food. read more

Breakfast wasn't very good. I ordered a bacon egg and cheddar sandwich, and the pig was still breathing despite asking for well done food. the cheese also wasn't cheddar. My husband ordered egg whites with home fries and toast and it was bland. The only seasoning on this food is pepper. Overall I wouldn't return. read more
