This is my dad's absolute favorite place to eat! The ribs and pulled pork is his go to. My dad lives in the hollar in Russellville, he has discovered that they DoorDash! We have had Buddy's three times this month. It's always the same ribs and pulled pork, but it never fails it's always absolutely wonderful! Of course there are other options too. The brisket sandwich combo was a bit pricy for what you get. The fries and baked beans were both good. Their BBQ sauces, mild and spicy, are good, just not the greatest you'll ever have. Large seating area. You order at the counter and pick up your own food, get your own drink, and clear your own table (so no tip needed). All things considered, not a bad lunch for a pretty decent price. read more

Ok, no photo. My bad. It's a crisp Saturday night in December. The weather is perfect for a motley ride with my riding partner, age 9. I decided on Buddy's due to location and price. We've hit other joints further away, but it was cold and dark so I went localish. Place is cute on the outside and pretty clean. Inside they had a fireplace going and a huge Christmas Tree all night and cheery. It looks like a fast food place nestled inside a cabin, because ya know- it is. The kid got brisket, green beans, bbq beans, and hush puppies. I got dry wings and fries. Don't judge me. The desert was ice cream and chocolate cake with chocolate fudge. Brisket- meh. Super thin sliced and more of a rubbery deli meat vibe that night. Hush puppies- yum. He ate all the bbq beans and most of the green beans. Weird kid. I really liked the wings. Smokey and just the right amount of dry rub. I liked the hush puppies. The fries were meh. Some were crisp, some were wilted and soggy. Dessert? Oh yeah! The ice cream was like home made in the Fourth of July by that one crazy crossed eyed uncle that you only see on the Fourth. Super good, and on a nice chocolate cake with fudge- it made the perfect finish to a pretty good meal. We took some hush puppies home and some of his brisket. We drank water. Bill was like 33 bucks. Pretty cheap in todays economy. The wait staff was good. I had a super nice tiny tiny cute little lady wait on me and she was very personable. I've eaten at the Buddy's in Maryville TN as well, and they both are pretty good basic bbq with fast service and no pretense. I'll be back to try what appeared to be a bottomless rib dinner. I saw wait staff walking around handing ribs out like band aids at a Boo-boo festival. They offered us more hush puppies but we already looked like squirrels with a mouthful of nuts. I Love BBQ! BUT..... I ordered the Potato with the pulled pork. The potato was not cooked all the way it was still crunchy. So I called to let the know. I spoke with the manager and she just about called me a liar. She said "I cooked those potatoes myself, they were cooked." I didn't even bother to go back. The pork ribs tasted like they were marinated in gasoline The chicken was moist and tender but wasn't anything to get excited about. Their hush puppies were very tasty. I went to UT in the '80s where Buddy's was ubiquitous. Never tried them until today. Clean place, with really nice staff, and underwhelming food. There were two of us, and we got the all-you-can-eat ribs, and two sides each. Everything but the hushpuppies were either cold or, in the case of the ribs, like jerky on the outside, and undercooked on the inside. Let's just say, nothing was falling off the bone. How can a company that's been doing the same thing for 50 years get everything right, except the food? Terrible. For fast food catering, this is great. Not perfect but, close enough. They take large orders on short notice. They are very accommodating. Being a vegetarian, I don't eat their food but, entertain a lot. Any time I've catered from this location or, the one in Seiverville, everyone has enjoyed their food. If you are going to wimp out on cooking and, cater, bbq is a fun a festive way to do it. The chicken wings went like crazy. A disappointment is that they give you ranch dressing in little, peel top cups, like what you would expect from a gas station. Luckily, I had homemade ranch dressing from Red Bud Deli, where I ordered a veggie platter. But, overall, this place is really special. The hush puppies omg I could just ordered a plate of them with the BBQ sauce. The not so great: the pulled chicken and the pulled pork on a bun. The chicken was really dry. Certain bites were moist and good but those were few and far between. Hubby had the pulled pork on a bun and again the meat was dry. I guess I just expected a little more flavor in the meat as well. Ordered 24 wings and a hotdog in the drive thru got back to my house 25 mins away and our wings were actually a baked potato. After calling 7-8 times someone finally picks up and says they'll remake it because they gave me the wrong order and asks me "24 dry rub right?" I say yes then drive another 25 mins back there to get them. Check and see they're actually wings get back home and they gave me 24 plain wings no sauce, no rub, no flavor and now they're closed so I can't even get it fixed a 2nd time. Came here with my large family, (16 people), and we got their amazing food. The staff treated us like family and made our experience memorable. We ordered most of the items on the menu and the rest of the items were gifted to our table by the manager. The music and atmosphere was a huge plus for those seeking a clean, southern experience. I went there with my family of 6. At first was a very nice atmosphere. We ordered our food. Then our food was put out. All of the order was wrong.and remember we paid 80 dollars for this meal and it came out wrong. We spoke with the person that handed us the food and they said they can't change our order. We spoke to manager and she said she would give us our money back and they would let us order from the menu again but we weren't allowed to make changes. We took our money and went elsewhere. My partner had bar-b-q pork: meat was tender, but sauce was sour, no spice. Cole slaw was like wet cabbage. Potato salad was bland (very store-bought). Beans tasted like Bush's Best. Good, but not worth the trip. Hush puppies were the best part of the meal, but 8 of them weren't worth the $16. Drinks are not included with the dinner, except on Tuesday. read more

I've been going there a couple times a month for lunch. The first several times staff was exceptionally courteous. Food quality is consistently good and pretty good value overall. This past Friday maybe I caught them having an off day. It was around 11:30am and I came into a line about seven people long. No problem there except the checker was busy doing other duties. She avoided eye contact that could have helped us be assured we were not forgotten and there was some level of concern. Nope, did get that and when it came my turn to order she stared down at the register and was likely more concerned with her own situation than mine as a customer. I believe she was stressed that she was getting behind had just did not have the maturity to handle it in a better way. It wasn't personal against me or anyone else. However, that sort of thing does leave an impression I would not want my restaurant to have if I were the manager or owner. I will go back, but if this happens again I will assume management does not see it as a problem. read more
