I don't leave reviews very often but wow this place is phenomenal! I've been there about 5 times now and it's always been amazing and NEVER missed. The pull pork is so tender and flavorful, potato salad is delicious and the Mac and cheese is so unique and tasty! Oh and their house made bbq sauce I could just about drink it LOL! I really don't think there's anything "bad" you could get off their menu! The service there is also great! Everyone there is so nice and welcoming it's just really makes the whole experience feel so worth it, knowing the people are great and the food is great!. I don't know who gave them a 4.9 but I'm not going to go back and I'm not recommending Smokey Q. 2 homemade iced teas and two sandwiches was $30. I could've got a T-bone steak a bag of frozen fries and made my own gallon of iced tea for $30 and had enough food to be full. There were two of us ladies, we had never been there before everyone else in front of us the menu was explained. But not us. We both wanted brisket, but a misunderstanding we received two of the driest burgers I've ever seen. My friend could hardly swallow it. She had to have a refill on the tea, due how dry it was, her opinion it was so dry. The buns were cracked dry to boot. Eating a boot may have tasted better. Her burger had a gob pimento cheese all in one side and inch thick ice cold and disgusting with a dry bun and a dry burger. It was like eating cement. We also noticed the restaurant was full of people and they had good meals and for $30. I expect something edible. It was not good. I don't even want to describe my food. I wrapped it up put it in my purse to take it home to show my husband just how bad it was. We were extremely disappointed because we were at Smokies in Dandridge when they were at the Square and it was very good but this one whether it's the same people I wouldn't go back too expensive for what you get. I left hungry that's I even left a tip and I am just appalled. By the way we are treated by the food. We were served felt like we were singled out too old ladies trying to have a nice lunch would recommend it. Family three were eating their meals. It looked delicious. We did not get delicious food. we did not get any sides. When I read the menu, I swore that the little piggy and the cow sandwich that came with the side for like $11 but for the price we paid I was just mighty unhappy that the food was in edible buns cracked and dry not dry like they grill them dry but old dry stale on top of that with a burger, and an inch of pimento cheese ice cold it was nasty. The tables were sticky, but they were busy. I could overlook everything. It was hotter than blazes outside. It was just as hot on the inside. So we definitely didn't wanna ever go back and we definitely won't be recommending it to any of our friends. In fact we're telling them what happened and we have pictures. read more

My wife found Smokey Q on Yelp and we planned to stop for lunch on our way home from Sevierville, TN. We were impressed they had 4.9 stars on both Yelp and Google and we had to see what it was all about. We arrived a little before 11:30am on a Saturday. The building and parking area are pretty unassuming but they do have adequate signage at the street and on the front of the building. We knew they had just opened at 11am and there were already people leaving with take-out containers. We parked and walked inside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is simple but tastefully decorated and looked very clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The order counter is on the right as you enter and there is seating for about 30 people to the left. They also have outdoor seating for approximately another 30 people at outdoor picnic tables. The woman working the counter was incredibly kind and welcoming--an outstanding example of great customer service! She explained everything to us and answered our questions. She also pointed out her husband in the kitchen as well as a young man working along side him...maybe the next generation of family? Smokey Q offers a veteran and first responder discount and my wife asked if they are a veteran owned business. She mentioned they initially had another partner who is also a veteran but she and her husband recently bought the business. She said they appreciate and support veterans and first responders, which we always love to hear. My wife wanted to try the sampler platter for one so we could taste all of the offerings. The sampler platter can be purchased for one or two people and includes all five of their meats and all six sides, yum! I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. We asked for fountain water to drink and were provided ice and water filled to-go cups with lids. They also offer bottled water and assorted canned soda along with fresh lemonade and tea. They also have small quantities of meat, pickles, banana pudding, etc. We sat down at one of the tables and grabbed some plastic silverware, BBQ sauce and napkins from the condiment table and waited patiently. We also overheard a customer mention that Smokey Q began as a local food truck. Our food arrived in a timely manner and looked delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed each and every bite and also really enjoyed their bbq sauces. We ate all we could and packed up our leftovers. We also signed the flag on the wall before leaving. We also learned from the owners, the small town of Dandridge, TN was having their annual June Jubilee celebration a couple of miles down the road so we checked that out afterwards. Overall this was a great experience and we would recommend to anyone in the area wanting some delicious BBQ. Very friendly, very clean, and a great selection of delicious sides. They also have swag that is very reasonably priced. Our only suggestion is it would be nice to offer real silverware to those people dining in, otherwise this was a perfect experience! Looking forward to stopping in again when traveling through Eastern Tennessee. We should also mention it is just a couple of miles off I-40 and well worth the stop. read more

Wow, what an awesome small business! I'm so glad we found this hidden gem. They were packed during lunchtime, and rightfully so! The food was absolutely delicious, and the portions were generous for the price. The brisket is the best I have ever had. I have tried just about everything on the menu and it is all delicious. The pulled pork is tender and flavorful. The ribs fall apart perfectly. The mac and cheese is creamy and comforting. The Brunswick stew (when available) is absolutely fantastic and the baked beans are excellent. Their desserts always hit the sweet spot. You can eat in or take out. You can even text them your order, which makes everything fast and convenient. The owners are always gracious and kind and they make every visit feel welcoming. The first time I went here I was like great, another barbecue place in the land of barbecue. I swore that if I even smell barbecue sauce or pulled pork again I would puke. But, I have to give it credit where it's due. This place has the best barbecue around. So in the unlikely event I get a craving for pulled pork or brisket it will not be from anywhere other than this place from now on. Visiting from Wisconsin on our honeymoon we took our dogs to the Douglas Lake and Dam for some swimming and exercise. I suggested let's go check out the town Dandridge, Tn. Once there I searched for a bbq spot and behold we discovered The Smokey Q. Before we even ordered our food we were told to go sign their flag, which I thought was pretty cool. I ordered the 2+2 platter. Pulled pork and Brisket with Creamy coleslaw and baked beans. My wife got the pulled chicken with smoked Mac n cheese and potato salad. Everything was on point. I grew up in Memphis with good ol' Memphis bbq, and this place was on point. #1, the food was great. The owners were working and they were awesome, kind, and friendly. Ok let me tell you this is a family run place, and they are the friendliest as can be. I only get my food to-go so I can't attest to the restaurants amenities. The ribs I've had has a delicious dry rub. Little or no sauce is needed on them. A serving of tender brisket for the kid, and I got the wife their special Boston stew which is made with smoked meat. Wrap that up with a couple of sides, and you got your family a great meal. Make sure you get a purchase punch card to earn a free sandwich. Veteran discount is nice too.
