It's a very small place that reminds you of an old fashioned butcher so don't expect them to have every cut in stock but you can always special order as needed. I like that they dey age beef already for you. Quality is good and pricing is on par with most grocery stores so you're getting better quality at a similar price. They have lots of fun local items in the freezer section. If you want to grill out with a nice cut of meat this is your place. Prices won't be crazy high but don't expect this to be on par with a grocery store sale. Also if you want a standing rib roast ask them to cut it off bone and retie it onto the bone for easier cooking. read more

There was a good selection of frozen meats, including lamb. In the large freezer section, there was also a good selection of frozen seafood. A nice bonus was the Amish butter. I live on the Upper Eastside, near the university and in the neighbourhood of a well known grocer (who is rather good, I must say), but Buddy's is my go-to shop for consistently high quality meats. This weekend I am having a dinner party and wanted the best tenderloins, so I stopped by. The shop was not yet open and as I turned to walk away, the door was opened (Buddy?) and I was invited in. I drove buy and saw buddy's meat market so I did a u turn because you never know what you will find in the neighborhood places. There was some good looking fresh meats there along with a freezer full of various items. I saw the house brand snack stycks and I grabbed one. This is no slim Jim and was good with a slightly hot after taste. I'm glad I stopped because I never would have had them. This is a nice neighborhood place. I was on my way to something else so this is not in my regular travels but if I find near by again I will stop. read more

They don't have a butcher counter, but a bunch of meats packaged and put in an open-top fridge. I'm pretty sure that the meat is delivered in much larger pieces then butchered and packaged at the shop. The meat comes from Kansas, so it isn't local, but I don't mind that so much. The store is clean. The service is good. They don't yet take Quest. read more

Beef. It's what's for dinner. This is a great little butcher shop for all you meat lovers. The people there are so friendly you wouldn't think they were capable of slicing up a dead bovine. But they are. And they are darn good at it! They also press some terrific sausage. Very full flavors, but not over-powering. The last time I had an Italian sausage this balanced was from Groppi's (when the Groppis still owned it). Hard to believe it's been about a decade now. Now I'm sad. :( But Buddy's makes me happy again! :) Here's the skinny, don't expect much more than meat. Some is fresh, some is frozen. The overall selection is pretty decent. But their fresh selection varies depending on when you get there. Fresh beef is always available. You can be assured that you can drive up, and be in and out of the store in just a few minutes. I just love the fact that I know it won't be a hassle to make an extra stop to Buddy's for my meats. Finally, some of the best beef jerky in the city. Hands-down. It's a no-frills jerky with terrific flavor and unmatched texture. I make my own jerky, and I've no idea how they get such an excellent texture. I REALLY want to give them 5 stars. REALLY! But I'd also like to see some more selection. Especially fresh stuff. But they are newer and are just getting their footing. With prices comparable to sales at the big grocers, you always get a deal. Call him up, tell him how thick you want your delicious Rib Eye and go get it, Tiger. He also makes beef sticks and really awesome beef jerky. The latter being my favorite, anywhere, because it still has a bit of moisture to it. He now carries Pepi's frozen pizza. It was my first time here this morning. The hours are kind of hit or miss and I saw the open sign when driving by. There are old fashioned meat fridges lining one wall of the small store front with a selection of steaks and chicken. In the freezers I was happy to find salmon kabobs in a variety of flavors, ox tails ( cheaper than Woodman's), and a selection of fish like salmon. The freezer portion reminded me of Layton Fruit market a bit. I saw that they also had homemade beef sticks and jerky. I would like to stop by again and pick up some steaks. read more

Well for me MSG is a bad guy. The kind of guy that kidnaps someone you love and demands an outrageous sum of money in too small of a window of time. Tried Buddy's for the first time for our NYE steaks and we were not disappointed. They were melt in your mouth and great tasting beef tenderloin filets. Prices are very reasonable and we even tried their bacon (delicious) and have their breakfast sausage patties as well. I will gladly give Buddy's my business when buying beef! read more

You can create your own dish or select from Buddy's smoked ribs, fajita chicken or other prepared items which are all delicious He even offers some frozen prepared items check out the freezer section for hamburgers and fish along with many other choices. We are all into support for local and Wisconsin products, he carries great pickles from Door County and lots of other condiments. You can find any number of cuts of beef, pork and chicken as well as home made sausage. There are a number of other handmade treats available frozen. This place has all their meats out in cases and refrigerators, I'll admit I was expecting to see the butcher but nope. I grabbed my usual chicken and beef/turkey. Although I was a little disappointed there was no lean meats aside from chicken. I hear the beef sticks are a great snack. This place also sells potatoes, onions, spices, and more.
