a piece of meat on a cutting board

First stop at Kettle Range Meat Co was a happy one! I needed a pork shoulder or butt for that famous NYT/Pinterest Pulled Pork recipe that's going around; and Kettle Range delivered! It was a nice cut of meat, and turned out so good! Also picked up and ate three nice boneless pork chops, and love their anti-hormone/anti antibiotic mission with pork. Looking forward to digging in to the frozen sockeye salmon I purchased, and was told that Thursday is fresh salmon shipment day. Frozen brats will be good on the grill, soon! And although the Yelp check in has 10% off for first time customers, I was given 10% off my first order, just making conversation and telling them that it was my first time there. Friendly, informative staff! Look forward to many returns.

I received a gift card to Kettle Range Meat Company for my birthday, and was excited to use it. I drive past this place - located at 55th and State - all the time l, and have seen them at Farmers Markets, so wanted to visit the store. They have meat - plenty of it, and it's high quality and priced well. What I appreciated most, though, were there weekly to-go prepared meals. A lot of variety and perfect for busy weeknights. They have all been very good.

Kettle Range Meat Co reminds me of a local butcher shop my grandma frequented when I was a kid. It hearkens to less hectic times when one might linger over conversation with their butcher about their freshest cuts and latest recommendations. But, Kettle Range has way more going for them than nostalgia. Offering locally sourced, grass fed, antibiotic and hormone free, expertly butchered meats--Kettle Range is my go-to butcher shop. You can taste the difference. Quality meats just taste better, y'all. They also have a small assortment of wines, cheeses, as well as fresh and local butter. And, for those hectic times? Bagged, heat and eat meals. We've gotten their salisbury steaks, which come with mashed potatoes (the real, hand mashed kind) and veggies--delish. They also have slow cooker bagged meals. Everything you need to make a slow cooker meal for a family of four (we're currently slow cooking a Korean beef meal). The prices for their bagged meals is reasonable. The salisbury steak meal (feeding four and completely prepared) was $30 and the slow cooker meal for four was $25. I am so happy to have this place in our fair city. And, especially happy that it's about 5 minutes from my house! Get to it!

I love Kettle Range!! It can be a bit pricey but you know you are getting amazing quality and service. The meal kits are phenomenal. They have a cute farm stand on weekends in summer too. So nice to support local businesses! Staff is always willing to help.

I have been wanting to get over here since they opened and since I was in this mood for a good piece of red meat with nice sixer of some quality brew I ended up here. A grass fed locally sourced boneless ribeye and some Central Waters brew was on my menu for tonight, yah I like going out to eat but I also like to cook so have to locally source the meal i.e. The liquor store and some form of a food store. When I walked in the two women behind the counter welcomed me and I let them know that I'm just looking right now and I would step up when I'm ready because it's a lot of carnivore heaven to absorb before I'm ready to cash out. The place is done very tasteful for a butcher shop with a clash of county/industrial/old school that crashed into each other and settled in the space with wood, pipes, sheet metal, old school meat cases which worked really well. There was nice cuts of meat, prepared meals, wine, cheeses, dog treats, sides, soups, sausages, hams, sauces, condiments etc to take in all at once but I was on a mission and I left with a ribeye, thick smoked pork chop and some amazing looking Canadian bacon. The two women were super nice and very helpful with explaining the concept of the business but they had me at meat. I read the review of the woman who felt that she was not properly respected by the guy and I have been there also so it's not just a woman thing and people are jerks because I'm a working slob and I have experienced that also but I must say that two ladies were spot on as the face of the business, nice job. Ok enough of the first impression experience ya ya and let's get to the meat for my steak and beer night. The grass fed beef ribeye looked super fresh and amazing, see the picture but how would it turn out because I have been to this rodeo before and felt let down. It was too thin for a thick Char/Sear while keeping it rare which would be tricky so I had one shot at this and I got with in 90 % of where I wanted it to be. Man it looked pretty good and it was super tender/juicy with no chewy weird pieces, I had no grisly pieces on my plate to throw away. This ribeye so tender bite after bite and I was waiting for that weird gristle chewy piece to show up and it never did and before I knew it the steak was gone. The resting period did its job and every bite was juicy and tasty. I was very impressed with the quality of my steak and even though it's a little pricey compared to the store it was worth every penny and I can't wait to try the smoked pork chop and Canada bacon. This place is a definite must for the carnivores out there.

The lunch menu has a huge variety of options, which made it tough to choose. I went with the BLT on sourdough, served with a pickle spear and thick-cut potato chips. It totally hit the spot. The bacon they use is fantastic. My friend ordered the Sriracha Melt (ham, pepperoni, mozzarella, jalapeños, and sriracha mayo grilled on white bread), which also came with chips and a pickle. Immediately devoured. The salads looked incredible....the table next to us ordered a couple and they looked absolutely divine. Next time for sure. The adjacent market is a must-browse too. It's packed with specialty products and rare finds that you don't see everywhere, making it easy to walk out with way more than you planned. Great food, great service, and a fun market to explore. Highly recommend stopping in if you're anywhere near West Allis.

There was a covered patio seating area that was also being utilized. After lunch, we browsed the connected store, with a nice selection of cheese and sausage, of course, and lots of great local products. Friendly service, generous portions, and delicious food - we'll be back!

I have not been to the MM in a while, so I'm not sure when this was a new policy. I took a bag that I usually take to other grocery stores, because I am not going to bring a lot of things and try to save plastic. That being said, we were approached by an employee who, while respectful enough was still offputting to inform us that we could not put groceries in the bag as we shopped, but needed to have a cart or basket. I didn't see any signs to this effect in English or Spanish and so I was very confused, but of course obliged. Now I understand why the staff lady gave us a nasty look when we first came in, but we had no idea! Please make this policy more clear; for now going to return to friendlier ethnic stores.

Anyone who follows me knows I'm a BBQ hound all over the country and I never do pulled pork because it doesn't interest me but Mexican carnitas on the other hand is something I have to always get. The store is pretty much the same as the 27 st location with the ice cream shop, meat, deli, produce, western union thing, hot table, dine in seating etc etc. The meat prices in the weekly ad seem very reasonable. The carnitas is my only reason to stop over and compared to other Mexican stores it isn't in a swimming pool of lard at this location and are on the dry side which I prefer over a pool of lard but I like them as they are. The hot table is way more than Mexican with a variety of items including pizza puffs etc etc. The cashier was friendly and greeted me with a good morning. Now that I have two Mexican food stores in the area I'm going to see who has the best carnitas.

Almost any Asian cuisine you need items for - Indian, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Chinese etc... I would recommend looking around because they likely have what you're searching for here. Foreign candy and drinks? Check. Unique and quality produce? Check. Fresh and frozen meats and seafood? Check. Fresh baked specialty goods? All the kimchi? That kitchen gadget you needed but couldn't find? Triple check. Everything I normally purchase from closer Asian markets can be found here, but often in a wider selection. For example, I love hotpot. I generally buy Little Sheep brand and my local store has two non-spicy flavors. There were several at Pan Asia. As well as other brands in spicy and mild flavors. It's like Aldi vs Walmart. Yes Aldi has what you're looking for, but Walmart will probably have more variety. The place is large and can feel overwhelming at first. But once you have an idea of how everything is laid out it becomes easier to find what's on your list. It's essentially the same as other grocers- produce at the entry, meat in the back and frozen items along the far wall with dry goods and staples in the center. I visit every couple of months just to see what's new and seasonal. I've not tried the restaurants yet as they're generally pretty busy. But I have purchased bakery items and recommend everything. I think there's also a boba tea counter and the fact that I've not tried it yet blows my mind. Maybe next visit! The checkout has always been pretty fast, even on the busiest days. And there's almost always someone available around the store if you need assistance finding items.

H Mart was my favorite, followed by Ranch 99. Unfortunately, here in Wisconsin, I have to now drive nearly 10 miles to get to the closest Asian market! So when I heard Pan Asian was opening in my area (2-3 years ago), I literally marked my calendar for opening day. I'm so happy they're a part of the community now! First off, today, LOUIS deserves a big gold star (if not a raise, hint hint, management, lol). Not only did he stop what he was doing, but walked me over to what I was looking for. TWICE. No eye-rolling, no exasperated sighs - nope, he just said "sure, it's right over here..." THAT kind of customer support alone goes MILES for those who are new or unfamiliar with a place (as I was), and makes me want to return again soon! Like many Asian stores, Pan Asian had elements of "chaos" throughout the store - they were doing lots of stocking when I was there (mid-afternoon on a Wednesday), and the music was a bit too loud (Note to management: background music is supposed to be just that - in the background, quiet and atmospheric - not a dance club). As at other stores, Pan Asian needs to keep tabs on their price tags - many were missing, or the product above the price tag was NOT the product on the tag, or 2 different but similar products by the same brand with only one price tag made shopping a bit frustrating. But as I always do, I'll have a short list of 3-5 items, and end up leaving with a cartful. ‍ For me it's easy to spend a solid hour or more there, just oooh-ing and ahhh-ing over all the exotic items, the live fish, the interesting kitchen goods (even if I can't read 99% of the labels). I always try to leave with something new to me; today, it was pickled plums (I've started making sushi and onigiri at home, and heard pickled plums were a Japanese favorite with onigiri). They're awesome, but very salty, indeed. Their produce section is large, amazing, and FRESH. Hard to choose what to get from that section, as well as their bountiful flavorings, sauces, Speaking of, I was thrilled to find that the store also has an incredible sushi selection and yes, even onigiri too (though TBT the price was a bit steeper than I hoped, and I could not find any onigiri molds in their hard goods section). I must admit that several items I looked at throughout the store seemed rather pricey - not sure if that a tariffs thing, or an import thing - so I will stick with Woodman's for my "regular" shopping, while supplementing with more of the fun Asian items I find at Pan Asian!
