Do not get your fence from Budget 1 Fence! Here's my experience: - My husband and I were in the market to get a new fence and we shopped around to get quotes from several local fence companies. - We decided to go with Budget 1 Fence because they were the cheapest... but soon regretted our decision. - After I signed the contract with Budget 1 Fence I learned that this company has a reputation for screwing over their customers. Budget 1 Fence constantly changes their company name every few years in order to look like a new business and rid themselves of the several negative reviews they receive. - When the fence was installed, they RUINED all of the grass and everything around the fence and would not own up to the mess they made in the yard. - For our particular fence, we needed to get a variance to build the fence on the side of our house so they only installed part of the fence and the plan was for Budget to finish the fence after the variance was approved. Budget took a small amount of money off the original quote and promised they would finish the fence at the amount they took off. - After the variance was approved I called Budget back and they promised me for WEEKS that they would come out and reevaluate the fence so they could start the job. After a month of multiple phone calls, the owner said he would not complete my fence even though they had already negotiated a rate and promised me they would finish the job. - The business owner then started CURSING AT ME after I mentioned that we had already negotiated a contract. In summary, the price may seem attractive but these are not people I would ever let near my home again after the way the business owner treated me. Do not hire this company. Most contractors I've dealt with don't really care what the customer wants, they just want to get the job done to get paid. I can live with that arrangement. They are in it to make money. What I have a hard time swallowing is the fact that I was told the job could be started and finished on a Wednesday and it did not get "done" until Friday. I also can't swallow that I was sold a six foot fence and a five foot fence was installed. I also can't swallow the fact that when the fence was installed there was a four inch gap from the ground to the bottom of the fence all along the perimeter. I also have a hard time swallowing the fact that when I called them to come out to correct the gap issue, which to their credit they agreed to do, I got hassled on when they could fix the fence. I don't trust this company. I am going to have another company come out and fix the gap. When I told them this, they stated that the warranty on the fence would be voided. No discount was offered to me for any of the issues I had. When I asked if their would be one they said no. Do not hire this company. read more

Warranty NEGLECT I have contacted their office multiple times, upwards to about 10 seperate times, since the spring and even once this past winter, to have someone come adjust my gates from the fencing system Budget Fence put in my yard in 2012. I tried to call the sales person but the number given goes to the office. Salesman was a kind getlemen whom I trusted to give my hard earned money to put a fence in. But.... Each time the receptionist or the contractor stated that someone would be out 'next week'.. Well All the 'next weeks' have gone and still no one has come out, set a time or showed up as promised. No phone calls to schedule a time. Even knowing the job is waiting to be adjusted. They were to be out here July , 2015, on the phone that day he stated @ around 6pm when we spoke "as soon as I set these last 4 posts I will be there after 8:30pm.. I explained the problem he claimed to understand and we hung up.. That evening I waited until 10pm. Seriously I did. No one showed or even called back to say it wasn't going to happen that evening. Phone conversations are 'put offs' for all I can believe now. Don't call and the problem will go away. Again last week I called to set another appointment. They stated on the phone that they were going to be there that day or the next..?? I said, What?no one ever contacted me to let me know this? THIS WAS A LIE .... I was not expecting them since my last phone contact over 6 weeks ago and again NO ONE contacted me. He then said we'll be out there next week first thing in the morning on Wed . I said 'Are you sure, do you know where I live" He then repeated the location and . AGAIN, I waited. I then called between 8- 9am to verify for this day, he stated anytime between 8-noon. I called at 1pm "are you coming?" he states I'll have them come out after this job?? NO time was given. and NO SHOW again. It is now 3:10pm. I called again, he answered and ask 'who am I speaking to?" I gave my name and the line went dead without conversation. I don't know what happened and I won't assume anything, but he never has onced called back to set up an appointment, apologize or give ANY viable reason for ALL the no shows. What did I do to win this unlucky lottery and neglect? IF you cannot fufill your appointments DON'T waste a customers time. The warrenty coverage is for 5 yrs?. This is a crock. That's if one can get the company to come out and follow through. The fence was installed in the summer of 2012. If you can't abide honestly with a customer who spent over $6,000 for a product and expecting to be treated fairly, then just state that. Don't lie, make up stories or whatever. I wanted to believe that a company follows through on its word and contract. Now I know BUDGET cannot stand by their word. Maybe an Action News Team would get the answers. My gates don't close or lock efficiently and I have animals to keep contained for their safety and mine.. When someone or somehting happens and gets hurt, do to a malfunction and warrenty neglect after countless contacts with the company, because the product is not working properly, they'll be hearing from the legal authorities. I bought my house from people that used this company,the fence post were coming out of the ground,so I figured I'd give them a call. Talked to the owner,he said "I remember that house! We put the poles in 32 inches deep. We ran into a bog that's why they shifted." I of course went to investigate. They certainly didn't go down to the frost line!! They didn't go down 24 inches,try about 12 inches the post is 4 foot long. About 38 inches about ground 10 inches in very little cement. The neighbor said they were a group of idiots. Hands down he pegged the outfit right. (I would give minus star rating,but 1 was as low as I could get on yelp.) read more

Called Budget on a Monday to set up an estimate. They were able to schedule me for the next day between 11-11:15. I waited until noon for them to show up. No show and no call. I called them and was told that the salesmen was in the hospital and they tried to call to me to reschedule. They had the wrong phone number. OK, things happen. I set up another appointment for Friday of the same week. Once again, no show and no call. I know that they had the right number this time. I had him read it back to me. I guess they do not want my business. I had to miss time from work for this. Very unprofessional. read more

the owner of this company is the rudest business owner i have ever talked to. After the fence was installed, two posts warped after 3 weeks, but the owner verbally told me he would have them replaced, even though not covered under warranty. Three weeks later, never showed up like was told several times no call backs like promised. Owner told me he was doing another job on my street. i stopped and spoke to this other client to share my experience with this company, which was good up until the problem with the posts started. Apparently this other client called budget one and told them a bunch of bad stuff i never said, so now the owner told me to F--- off and hung up on me, will not come out because of lies this other client told him. Please read all the other reviews on BBB, this is the normal pattern for this owner to behave like this. My cousin also hired them before i could share my experience, and they too had problems, not showing up on scheduled date, not calling to inform them they wont show up, several times, they took off work too for it. Also measured the fence 8 feet too short and were given them a hard time about the cost. I am not over reacting with my story, it was a horrible experience, the owner cannot handle any confrontation or criticism and wont even let you talk to discuss, just keeps hanging up on you after swearing at you. Was done to me several time. My only praise for the company, the sales guy Ed and the two workers who put it up were great. No complaints about my experience with them at all. read more

DO NOT EVER USE BUDGET1 FENCE or their new name LAKE ERIE FENCING. This has to be the worse company EVER and the rudest and most unprofessional employees I have ever come across. !!!! We had cancelled their service within 2 business days of them coming out to the house. I was told by Stephanie that we would have our refund back within 30 days as half was required down. When we did not receive the refund within 30 days we were told it was sent and that they could send another one. I was told they were waiting for the boss to approve cutting another check. After I asked to come personally pick up the check I was ignored. When I called the office several times I was told I was not getting my money back, they already spent it and filed bankruptcy and that there is not a thing I could do about it !!!! They still have the same location listed on their ads but they are using a different name and number now. One way or another they will pay for screwing people over !!!! read more
