Because we were desperate for transportation to Tulum, we agreed. An Enterprise van then drove us to the rental lot. It was at the rental lot that we encountered the manager, Prats. When we calmly asked for written confirmation of the original cancellation and expressed frustration that we were receiving conflicting information from different Enterprise employees, his demeanor immediately became hostile. He stated that he would not rent a car to us because we were "arguing too much." At no point did we raise our voices or behave inappropriately. We asked Prats to explain what he believed we were arguing about, and he was unable to provide any explanation. Despite the fact that we had already agreed to rent a vehicle at a much higher price, he then refused to rent to us at all, claimed there were no vehicles available, and refused to provide any written cancellation notice. You could see that car had an accident before but was fixed that the only visible thing was that trunk had a bit bigger gaps between body and a lead. New wheels (which is very important in this part of mexico as most of streets have huge holes), small visible scratches which we marked on documents. All in all car was clean and had decent acceleration and enough space for 2+2 family (Chevrolet Onix) We drove this car from Cancun to Tulum, Merida, El Cuyo and many other smaller trips in the mean time and never had any problems. Giving back car was also arranged on airport, which took us 5 mins. No need to wash car and vacuum. They do it all for you. Great experience. We are so spoiled in the US and Canada by our credit cards or personal car insurance being accepted. America gave me a price for full insurance with NO-Deductible. Thats what you want. It was basically $50 US a day. Not bad when my rental was only $18 US a day. LOL This is what gets ridiculous in Mexico - the pricing schemes. That being said I reversed into a palm tree and busted the rear door and completely shattered the rear window exposing everything. They drove from Cancun to Tulum (2 Hours) with a replacement car that day. When I returned the car, I thought perhaps things are going to go sideways. Nope, they returned my deposit (500 USD) and that was the end of it. I even checked by credit card after returning a few times. All good. My total cost for the week rental was $328 USD fully insured.
