The worst possible place you can rent a truck from. I would avoid them at all costs and am genuinely surprised they're still in business. Placed a reservation for a truck I needed, arrive at the location at exactly my reserved time. Budget employee proceeds to tell me they have no trucks available and their system just lets people book the reservation even though nothing is available. This was a huge waste of time and a huge inconvenience as I've already scheduled a furniture pick up. I then went to home depot which was very easy to work with and have the available trucks ready to go. A few days later budget had the audacity to charge me $150 for a "no show" fee even though they should be paying me the $150 instead. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS LOW QUALITY BUSINESS OR YOU WILL REGRET IT. read more

I don't know which location this van was rented from, but they about ran my wife, kids, and me off the road on July 2nd. They passed us on a shoulder driving easily over 90. Sorry it may impact your ratings, but please review the plate number on this date and don't let them rent from you anymore. They ran right through the red light after they passed us. read more

This place is absolutely horrible. I know there are not many options for local rentals, and not good that this is both Budget and Avis in a combined office, so two equally bad options. My experience was almost unbelievable. I made a reservation at The Colony Budget office through Expedia in the morning to pickup that afternoon. Shortly after I made the reservation, the office called me to let me know that even though I had a reservation, they had no cars and would not have a car for me that afternoon. I was not happy, but told them to cancel and went back to Expedia and made a reservation at the McKinney Budget office. Having been told by the other Budget office that they had no cars, I proactively called McKinney to make sure they would have a car for me. They said no problem will have a car for you. Problem solved, right? Wrong! Fast forward several hours to about 30 minutes before I was scheduled to pick up the car, the McKinney Budget office called to let me know they did not have any cars. I told them that I had called that morning to make sure they would have cars and was advised that they would. The agent who called said that if the phone rings more than twice then the line transfers to the central reservations and they have no idea if there are cars or not. I said the person answered on the first ring. I have been renting cars for 30 years and know if I'm talking to central reservations or someone at the local office and let her know that. She got a little snippy and let me know that regardless of who I talked to, they had no cars. She also said this happens all the time, every day and that she routinely has 10-15 angry customers for which there are reservations and no cars. She also said that since I made the reservation "last minute," that she had no obligation to get me a car. Evidently for Budget, reservations are actually just suggestions for the rental office to get you a car. Ridiculous! I will never use the McKinney Budget office, and unless there is no other option, I will choose any company other than Budget. I suggest you do the same. read more

Was super surprised that the agent added insurance to our rental when we clearly told him we didn't want or need it. He became very mad when we told him no. I had to call budget customer service to resolve. Secondly, I tried to extend the rental another week but since I called customer service to get the insurance taken off the bill we couldn't do it over the phone which I was disconnected once and had to talk to 4 people before someone could figure out that I had to go all the way back to the airport to extend - what a pain. I would like to give less than 1 star but can't. We came here Sat. 10 28 2017 to pick up a 16 foot truck that we had reserved 3 months ago. When we arrived we got told that they no longer had them as the management had given all the truck to ups. But they would see what they could do. While waiting I called another company just a few miles away, they had a little bit larger truck with no troubles in getting other than a little higher cost. So we went with that truck. While waiting at the othe place budget send us a text they found us a truck not even in the town we are needing the truck in and we would have to go get it plus it was a higher fee. They towed my car away--not the rental car, my personal vehicle--while I was renting their car. Suggest you rent elsewhere. Made the mistake of renting a car here over the weekend. Came back Monday AM a half hour or so before the return time, only to find they towed my car to an impound lot earlier that morning. $300 tow charge for a $70 car rental. Manager ducks all responsibility, blames "corporate office" for the decision. Worker says they had space for it, and where I parked it was NOT labelled a 'no parking' area, and there were, and always are, several empty spaces in this sleepy little suburban location. Counter person says they have signs posted. They do, but they have dozens of other sings too, about this, and that and every other thing, and I don't think those signs meet TX state requirements--anyway, is this how you treat paying customers (who have rented from you many, many, many times over the years)? Rented it late Sat AM; they were only open until noon on Sun.; and they towed it first thing Mon. AM--which means that my offense was to have my car parked in an open space, for Sat afternoon and Sun morning--apparently they had nothing better to do than fixate on my car, and how to get rid of it. Now filing complaints with their corporate office and Texas as well. Suggest you rent elsewhere. read more

I would give a NEGATIVE star rating if I could! Take pictures with time stamps of your vehicle BEFORE you drive it off the lot and when you return it! Especially when you return it! They are charging me an extra $275 for "excess cleaning fee" saying that the Ford Explorer that I rented from them to attend a show, hauling totes! Was returned so dirty it had to be sent out for detail. Which is BS! There was not even an empty water bottle left in the car when I returned it a day early! I had to clean the car when I picked it up as the front windshield was covered in bugs so bad that it was hard to even see out. I've since contacted corporate only to receive an email yesterday saying I need to dispute w/ the local manager and that the car was so dirty that a simple vac could not clean it, which is not the truth at all. I could have "swept" it out with my hand and it would have looked perfectly clean! I can't even get in touch w/ the local manager to even ask them about this. When I first received the "bill" with no date on it, I called the number on the bill only to be told it was sent to "collections" and that number no one answers. They kept trying to tell my that maybe it was because my card was declined, which was not even close to the truth as I was looking at the charge for the car rental and their bogus charge of $275 that they could not even tell me the truth of what it was for. I travel extensively and rent vehicles at least twice a month, I will never rent from Budget ever again. This is my second issue w/ a Budget car rental location. The other was the Birmingham airport when they tried to charge me for not returning the car with a "full" tank of gas. It was not "100% full" upon return, that's because I got gas right off the interstate on my way to the airport and had to actually drive it from the gas station to the airport. I have since found out that they did this to others as well. But this bogus and fraudulent "excessive cleaning fee" as well as "administrative fees" that total $275 from this McKinney location is the last I will ever rent from Budget! read more

The young lady who assisted me went above and beyond for us. I had not realized that AARP gives a discount. The employee gave me direction to call them and see if it could be added to the trip back that we had not intended to rent a car for. After we received authorization the budget employee was able to get us a lower rate for the entire trip. Way to go. I think i found the company i am going to go with from now on. read more

This is how they treat customers. Ignoring phone calls/on hold for 10 minutes. NO customers in the store! They could care less. Called us after our appointment while we were standing in line & said that they don't have our truck. The lady in front of us made reservations 3 months in advance and they don't have her truck. They said it's our fault for booking only a week in advance. Said the cars on its way. Took three hours. Didn't let us talk to management. The three ladies were condescending rude and shouldn't be working in customer service with those poor attitudes. Don't come here. It's not worth the $20 you'll save from not going to Uhaul. No one ever picked up the phone at this location! Your call would be routed to the customer service center and they cannot provide specific information about the location. For instance, there's an advertisement stating they provide free pickup and drop off services within 5 miles of the rental location. But no one picks up the phone for you to schedule it! It was frustrating! The customer service center did not know that the location provided that service. Make sure you have the "North" Central Expressway in your GPS in order to find the location. I was never greeted by anyone at the times I picked up and dropped off the car. I had to look around, call out "hello", and a staff person would appear. Rather odd way of managing an office. They failed to call/email/NOTIFY me days in advance and instead waited for me to arrive to tell me. This car rental place was a joke. Had me initial here, here, and here, and I couldn't even have a second to read what I was initialing. First car they tried to give me a Nissan Altima that was hail damaged EVERYWHERE and filthy! Not one place was not dimpled and I'm supposed to drive that!?. The second car, another Nissan Altima was overwhelmingly filthy inside and out and smelled like smoke so bad it made me nauseated and it only had 14,000 miles on it! I had no choice I was leaving to go to Colorado and needed to get on the road and they were going to close at 12:00 Noon. We came home (with the windows open all the way back) and throughly washed it inside and out, cleaned the inside of the windows with Windex because I couldn't even see through them, sprayed Febreeze and put (4) dryer sheets underneath the seats. Delayed my timeline but about 1-1/2 hours. I brought the can of Febreeze with me so I could keep spraying when I was out of the car and used 3/4 of the can. Then of course a huge rock hit the windshield on the way back while I was driving in Colorado and cracked it most of the way across in my sight line. Horrible trip to and from Texas to Colorado Springs. I have NEVER had to clean a rental inside and out PLUS travel with a smoke smell the entire way. Now I am sure they will charge me an exorbitant amount for the windshield. PS: The place is a dump! Dirty chairs, dirty floors, long lines, and people who need to brush up on their customer service skills. read more

Wow biggest mistake my original charge was $260.00 was told don't worry $35.00 for every day after.Lies was billed over $440.00 finding my account was a joke. It seemed I could not be found in the system but my account was charged again those wonder full toll charges that I paid before I left the building oh there is a new fee "Location Fee" watch for that one. Only giving a one star because I have to. The manager and employees are unable to do their jobs correctly. My husband spent an hour waiting before they said he couldn't get the truck we made a reservation for. Their system went down and they said they would not do a manual agreement. It shouldn't have taken that long for them to tell him. Then I had to drive 30 minutes back to get him. I called many numbers and had people hang up on me or transfer me to the wrong people. Finally they were going to lease us the truck for $80 more because they said it was our fault they had to cancel the first agreement. They would not give us the truck and said they wouldn't give us a refund if if the agreement was not cancelled. So how was it our fault? I finally got a hold of someone at Budget who told them to rent us the truck and they did the agreement for them. It took 2 hours to get a truck we made a reservation for and had to pay more for it. They are going to refund the extra we paid but we have to turn the truck in and call for it to be done so doubt that will happen. The customer service rep said he was not sure why they did this to us but not one person appologized. We had 3 hours to move someone in a bad situation out of their house and 2 was spent dealing with them. Budget should be ashamed of their employees. read more

Bait and switch! Rented a full size car last December and pre-paid online, which they don't like, apparently. Picked up the car near closing time, guy at counter was making me choose between a Mazda 6 and Chevy Malibu, chose the Mazda 6 and was given a Mazda 3, clearly on purpose since all the paperwork said Mazda 3! Didn't realize it until it until i drove off the lot, tried calling to exchange but they were already closed. Had to leave early the next day so i figured I'd just get a refund for the difference when i got back. Turned out they couldn't give a refund because i prepaid online. Called Budget customer service and they processed the refund but was told it would take a while since they have a "backlog" in their billing department. How convenient! 2-3 months later still nothing. Oh, the car smelled of cigarette smoke despite them claiming all their cars are non-smoking, guy gave me piece of paper noting it and he said somebody smoked inside the car "in the distant past" but it smelled like somebody smoked in the car earlier in the day! read more
