Well I found this place on Kayak. I probably should have done a better job by looking on Google Street View of Chemult. It is literally like a mile long. I got a room here because it was close to Crater Lake and I had already been driving 10 hours and the City of Bend was pretty much sold out (I found out later that there was a big Summer Music Festival in downtown). There only a couple of places to stay in Chemult. This is okay if you are desperate for a place to stay when you can't stay anywhere else or you are on a "budget". Of course, it is summer season and this room (yeah that's it) was just under $100. The bed was comfy and the fridge worked and there was a small coffee maker. The room interior was a bit funky. The closet was super tiny. Maybe a bigger hanging hook would have worked. Wi-Fi was offered per the website but I didn't use nor do I remember asking for a password. Just a note: make sure you close the window in the bathroom when you use it or shower the back window literally backs up to Pilot Gas Station next door and a lot of people park there to run into the store to pick up snacks. read more

Driving into the parking lot I was a bit skeptical. The motel is older. The room was clean and had no odors; the bathroom was updated to be tiled in soft beige colors. The beds were comfortable and the coverings were a bit faded due to the numerous washing of them. The air conditioning works well and there was a fan to circulate the air when the windows were open instead. The free internet was extremely slow but I do believe it's because of availability to the town and the number of people using it. The room is quiet and you do not hear the people on either side of us which was awesome. This motel is not a fancy updated place but you are not paying that price. This is a quaint older motel reasonably priced close enough to go to Crater Lake National Park. read more

If I could give this place no stars, I would. No deadbolts on the doors. Missing lightbulb in the bathroom. Old and worn out. Utterly filthy - debris on the floor in the bathroom, a stain and hair tangled in one of the towels, stains and hair in the sheets. 5 stars for quick customer service when I needed it. The place is older and isn't the best looking, but upon closer inspection it was cleaner than i expected. I had booked another place across the street, but when I arrived at the other place from Portland there was no one to check me in (a little before 11pm, and I had put on my reservation note I was checking in late). After calling 4+ times where I could hear the phone ringing in the back room, getting nothing, knocking on the back room door, calling out hello? a bunch, I called Budget Inn and a man answered before the second ring. He had been asleep (my bad), I could tell from his voice (and later when I arrived, his eye mask). He let me know the price of the room (cheaper than my original booking), and I came over to check-in. All very quick after a long drive and half an hour messing around with the original place. I didn't use the TV or the WiFi, so I can't comment on those. The place is next to the highway (like the other places in town) so try to get a room farther from the highway if possible. I probably didn't get good sleep because of the highway noise and wildfire smoke at the time of my stay. As I was getting in my car to leave, I realized the man running the office also cleaned the rooms. I wish I had left a larger tip. read more

It was a snowy night, it was getting late (after 10 PM) and we were hoping to drive past Chemult, but had to stop due to the bad weather. It was important that we have WiFi and the sign in front advertised free WiFi. We got in there was no WiFi! We were shocked by the condition of the room, ditry-ish, lack of maintenance ie. wall paper peeling from the walls, horrible smell in our room, and what appeared to be used sheets, etc. After finding something like the consistency of Bar-B Q sauce on the table by the bed, we called the office to ask if the room had been cleaned. Whoever answered the phone was angry and very putout that we'd askThen we asked if he would like to come see it for himself! A very angry, VERY angry older man came to our room with a spray bottle in his hand. When we asked if the sheets had been changed he pointed the spray bottle at us like he was threatening us as he yelled at us! We thought maybe before settling in, we should find another room or another hotel. This man was determined not to help us find another room and he said he would not refund our money. We had been polite and self-controlled and continued to be, as my husband politely asked the very crazy man to leave our room. After the bizarre and scary interaction with this man -the father of the owner, we checked the door to be sure it was locked. Our son quickly discovered the chain-lock was easily unlocked from the outside! NEVER..Ever would I recommend anyone to stay there! We slept in a creepy looking, dirty room with wall paper peeling off the walls and to top it off with a door that didn't even lock securely. It was late, it was snowing heavily and we had no choice but to stay. We have traveled the world, expensive hotels and cheap ones and never...EVER have we seen a room in as bad condition as the one we were given and never EVER have we ever felt threatened by a hotel person! It was absolutely frightful and uncalled for! We hope this Yelp review prevents anyone else from experiencing what we did that night! We would rated it less than 1 star! read more

This was the weirdest place to stay. Me and my man had an event at Diamond Lake to go to, and I wasn't going to pay a bunch of money to go to he resort, so I looked up a crap-cheap motel. And... Well, that's what we got. So I guess the man who owns this motel... lives there also? Like his house is connected to the office. So when we showed up a little after 10 PM, I went to go in the office, and it was locked. Saw a little note that said please ring for service, so I hit the button and heard a loud buzz... and nothing for a while. Suddenly a man walks out the door labeled "Private" in sweats, looking like he just got out of bed. I gave him my card and everything, and he gave me the key, he showed me the two different Wifi names and passwords (why are there two... who knows) and I parked the car and went into the room with my man and dog. The room wasn't DIRTY... it was very musty, though. Like... The bedding and everything probably hadn't been washed in a long time, even without anybody staying in there. The decor was just... atrocious. The walls were this terrible gross yellow color, there was weird stuff on the walls that were SUPER out of place... it was bad. The bathroom was about the size of my shower in my bathroom at home... (that's a small exaggeration. But it seriously was tiny) Oh also, I tried to go on a Wifi connection and I only saw one of the two he showed me, and there was ONE bar of wifi service so it was completely useless. Oh well. I have unlimited data anyway, hotspot it is! Another thing... the heaters... were ancient. I've seen wall heaters, and they sketch me out, but THESE wall heaters... were probably as old as I am. You could see behind the vent part, the red hot coils, and my dog was terrified and wouldn't go near that wall, lol. Super weird place. I've never been to a motel before, only hotels. Totally different experience, apparently. One plus to this place is that the Pilot station is right behind it, so we could walk over and get a snack or a drink. read more

In a tiny gateway town outside Crater Lake in a town of 300, this hotel impressed because of its online presence and "newly remodeled" status. However, when we arrived, we realized that while I'm sure the remodel improved the place, it was still clearly unacceptable. The 12 must be 15" and has no inputs for our own gadgets. No tub, the carpet looks hideous, the bedding equally scary and the room was freezing cold. With cement walls and a tiny in wall heather, it took ours to reach a decent temperature. The water pressure is dripping, not even allowing for a shower. It also advertised "free wifi" and though the router is about 20 feet away in the office, it does not appear to be broadcasting a signal. The doors on each room are incredibly noisy so each time sometimes comes and goes, you all hear it. Pay more and stay somewhere else. read more

The Good: great price, great customer service, Clean room, refrig, microwave. If that's all you want then you found your place The Bad: Deferred maintenance everywhere. My wife almost killed me when we drove up. the exterior appearance is the worst motel I have ever stayed in. No AC. Wifi connected and showed internet service was there, but it could not connect to Yahoo for the whole five minutes that I waited. I ended up creating my own hotspot. Bookings.com set this up for us. 5 stars because they provide what you need for a bargain price. it's an old motorcourt motel. Very clean room, no smoke smell. (thank goodness) mattress and pillows were great, linens and towels great, organic soap and shampoo. adequate tv channels, coffee pot, microwave and refrigerator. no air conditioning, but the room had 2 portable fans. woman who checked us in was very nice. I love that you can park close to your room. you can also walk to anything here. we brought food from Bend anticipating there wouldn't be much avail for dinner on a Sunday night. .glad we did. we were 2 in room 11 and the WiFi worked very well. $63 w/ tax. the room had 2 queen beds in it - we wanted to be back from the road - it was tight, but if this is what you need it should be ok for 2 nights while visiting crater lake. remember, this is road tripping. read more

Okay, so what do you expect for $70 a night? We ended up here when everything on the west side of the mountains was sold out. We got in late and were expecting the worst. Obviously a little motel from the 1950s that had seen better days. They checked us in fine (it was almost midnight). The rooms was small with two separate beds that were strangely arranged - I think it used to have one and they put another where the sitting area used to be. Overall it was a decent place. The electric had been redone and the plumbing was fine. Beds were comfortable. I was worried as it is right next to the truck stop but it didn't keep us up at all. Good for a short overnight but I wouldn't stay there for a long time. Based on the numerous fans in our room, they have no AC and it gets pretty hot there in the summer. read more

At first I was a bit skeptical due to the low scoring reviews... But we took a chance and I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of our room. Granted it is a very old building and the location is not the best (next to a busy truck stop/ gas station) but the facilities and furniture is somewhat updated. For a cheap pit stop on our way down to crater lake I was definitely content with my stay. The family that owns the business was very friendly and kind. read more

For a $50 motel in the middle of nowhere, it's not as bad as it could get. But the walls and windows are thin, so I had to wear earplugs to keep the road and other guest noise out. The first "non-smoking" room I was given had clearly been smoked in, he the assigned me to room #1 right by the highway which he claimed was "really non-smoking", despite there being no non-smoking sign on the door (unlike many of the other rooms). But at least the smell was faint and tolerable. Next time I'll probably opt to stay in Bend. read more

For many years I have taken the position that for one or two nights I could stay any place. After my stay in Chemult Oregon at the Budget Inn I have to revise my position. I was on the road from Yosemite to see Crater Lake. I had spotty phone service and no real idea of how far places were from Crater Lake. I found a Budget Inn listed in Chemult Oregon that was about 30 miles away. So I went to book a room for 2 nights. As I closed in on booking the room I lost service on my phone. When service came back I checked my email and did not find a confirmation for the booking. I went back to the web site and saw that the room I was trying to get was booked by someone else. So I did the process again. This time the booking was completed. Now I wait and I get two emails. Each one confirming my booking. So I now have two rooms booked for two nights at the same place. The only difference is one is more expensive than the other. I call Booking .com to cancel the second booking. They cannot do it, it has to be done by the Motel. When I get to the motel I try to cancel the second booking. The "manager" will not cancel the second reservation (which cost more) but he will cancel the first one (which is less expensive). Being that it was at the end of a long day's drive I agree. Now I get to the room. It was new maybe in 1950 or earlier, and may have had it's last real up keep in 1960. Any repairs since that time have been done with the least of care and attention or perhaps not at all. I think they may also offer hourly rates for some of the rooms. Then we went to supper in one of only couple of places in town. It was not good enough to be saved by restaurant impossible. So now I have to change my position on "I can spend a couple of nights any place" to "I can spend a couple of nights almost any place." I will never spend the night in Chemult. DO NOT STAY HERE if you have any other choice. read more
