This company scams you. In the fine print it says if their smoke device detects smoking they can charge you between 225 and $450. Well you're not going to smoke because you're not a smoker. But if you're in Las Vegas where everybody is smoking in public, you're sitting at a red light with your window open drifts into your car, bam they automatically charge you $225 minimum up to $450 and they don't care. I have never had this experience with any other car rental Budget and Avis are well known for using this scam as a revenue creating stream. They have a device in the car that measures particulates. If you drive through a smoky neighborhood you get charged. I'm not even sure the device is real. This happened to me. When I return the car and they checked the car over I asked do you see any evidence of smoking? The 14-year-old working there didn't give a damn or know anything. The guy behind the glass was just as ignorant. I will be looking for a full refund for the experience for my rental. I had the car for 8 days, the device said there was smoke detected for 2 minutes. I am disputing my credit card charge. Lesson learned there's many choices. Don't get scammed don't ever rent from Avis or Budget this is how they're making extra money. I called up the next day and asked if the same car was available to rent and they said yes. That means it was not taken out of service to be de-smoked like they said I was paying for. Sitting at Salt Lake airport Utah. Stood in a long line at Budget Car rental; get there and they say they have to clean the car. 10-45 minutes she said. Could I get another vehicle of course but you have to pay for the upgrade. We are among 5-6 other people waiting for their vehicle. My recommendation is stay away. Hertz looks so much better. Budget seems like they have over booked. Disappointed. No apologizes or anything of the sort. It appears that Budget doesn't really care about the customer. For me never again for me. After having such an amazing experience with the budget at the airport I thought that would extend to all locations. Unfortunately it didn't. The white woman working at the counter refused to give me the vehicle that I PREPAID for because of some bs "soft credit check" when my credit is just fine and RUINED my travel plans. Avoid this location at all costs. If I could give 0 stars, I would. My best advice is to avoid Budget/Avis in Las Vegas at all costs. The entire experience from pick-up to drop off took entirely too long, very poor customer service, and to top it all off, they charged me $390 additional for a tire that went flat during my rental. I used my AAA service to get the tire changed to the donut, and confirmed a screw was embedded in the tire, with no idea whether it occurred while I was driving it, or before I picked it up. Regardless, they charged me $233.99 for the tire, $107 for loss of use, and a $50 administrative fee. While the person I spoke with their account collections staff, they agreed that its impossible to know when the screw came to be in the tire, but regardless, they claim Nevada law allows them to charge the customer if it occurs during their rental, and allows them to also charge you for loss of use and administrative fees. That's a pretty good deal for them since they apparently have no responsibility to maintain their own vehicles. I travel pretty often, but I will NEVER use Budget/Avis again. read more

1 star... I wish I could give none. So I rented a car from Budget thinking I was getting a deal. Turns out the only thing included for free was a family of cockroaches. I'm not even joking--one popped out of the air vent like it was ready to give me directions, and another tried to claim the passenger seat. I guess I was just the guest in their car. I brought it back and told the staff, and they just hit me with the "oh nooo" like it wasn't the first time. They offered me a different car, but honestly, I was half expecting to find a spider running a side hustle in that one too. We had a reservation for a minivan at the North gibson Henderson nv location, however when my husband went to pick up our vehicle he was told they had no minivans, so we had to try and hunt down a budget that had one available, however it being spring break was not as easy as it seemed, the location at 4475 west Tropicana was my husband's 3rd budget he had driven to, and they were awesome, they went above and beyond to help us, they had a van brought over from the airport, if it had not been for the amazing guys at this location our vacation would have been ruined! read more

SCAM. 1) We were charged a certain amount online but in person, the customer care representative Bryson added around $170 extra charge in insurance despite specifically mentioning we only wanted what we paid for online. He was extra nice to ensure we don't notice the add ons and assured us we were only paying for what we booked. When we tried refuting the charge in during the time of return, the people at the counter were extremely rude and dismissive. 2) We paid for a higher range car but Bryson gave us a lower range one with less luggage space claiming it was an upgrade. I took a trip to Ohio in July and rented a vehicle from Budget Car Rental at Hopkins International Airport. After returning home to Las Vegas, I was shocked to see several unnecessary charges on my credit card -- my total jumped from the original $450 to $663. Since then, I've spoken with multiple Budget representatives about my security deposit, and each time I was told it would be credited back to my account. It's now been four months, and I still haven't received a refund. This has been extremely frustrating, especially since I've been a loyal Budget customer for over 15 years. Unfortunately, this is the second time I've had this exact issue with them. I strongly recommend avoiding Budget Car Rental. this place is a complete joke! Made a reservation, showed up on time, had to wait 45 minutes for a moving truck! Drove to my house to move and had no moving dolly! Paid for the rental fee. Call The location 15 times, no answer when I drove all the way back to location! I was told "I'm so sorry". I told her I had called multiple times and she was told "we've been so slammed! First van we had to return for a hybrid electrical servicing issue (i have pictures of error message)and he didn't change out the time we left and kept the original 1230 reservation time even though we didn't leave until after 2pm, then check engine light came on and wouldnt go off finally did in Utah. Then called and asked them if we could return it in Vegas and fly back to MN and they never told me about a $300 one way charge nor did they document my call and conversation they charged me for third day since we returned it at 2pm not 1230, so called and they finally gave me credit back for third day but refuses $300 one way fee so $300 car rental went to $600 and now i have to call budget again because i just seen a new $95 charge on my credit card. None of our call were documented until there was problems with billing and unexpected charges. All the staff were rude especially the supervisor i spoke too. Don't rent from Budget! Just. Don't. Seriously. We needed to rent a minivan to move some last stuff from our cabin in LA. We booked Budget because their price was 50% less than Enterprise. You know the saying "You get what you pay for?" Yep, for half the price, we got less than half the customer service. Walked in around 9:20 for the 9:30AM scheduled pick up time. Four people ahead of me in line. OK. It took TWO employees working the counter 40 min. to help FOUR people. Byron helped me and it took him over 10 min. to process the rental - BTW, it was a prepaid rental and I had the paperwork. Between their tired stone age "technology" and employees that seem like they hate their life, it was painful. Oh, and for those of you that have seen Zootopia, the workers here move SLOWER than the sloth working at the DMV in the movie. The workers here make that sloth seem like Speedy McLightning. AND, it took another THIRTY minutes to actually get the car! And it was ONLY thirty minutes because I was able to stop the worker from washing the van. I told another employee to tell the guy that was about to wash it to stop him, that I didn't care if it was filthy, I just wanted the damn van and get the puck outta there. Never ever has it taken OVER an hour to rent a friggin' car. The van itself was fine - it was a hybrid so that helped with the gas. And it was clean already, with a full tank of gas like the paperwork indicated. And the return process was nice and smooth. Oh, the place was empty, and there were 5-6 workers at the counter. The manager literally shook her head and walked passed the employee who was verbally rejecting us in between the crack of the glass doors. We wasted our $40 Uber ride to get there, then another $20 to our following destination, and a car rental all together. Worst of all- they absolutely trashed our vacation and experience in Vegas especially since we were only there for a couple of days. The most irresponsible, unethical and humiliating treatment. You almost can't believe it until you experience it and even then it will blow your mind. There are thousands of others who would take this job and feed their families with dignity and respect. I had a great experience here. They were making popcorn and offered coffee when I arrived. Double checked to make sure I was at the right location. Rented a clean suv without issue. I extended a day over the phone and was charged an extra $50.. ended up brining it back a day after that and they only charged me $20 and waved the $10 extension fee because I paid $50 over the phone. So I went and picked up the trailer/moving truck yesterday. Trailer is towing my car so I can drive back to Vegas since I'm helping my roommate move back to Oregon. They tell us that the trailer has a flat.. they're like "the guy can meet you at your place and fix it". We got the moving truck loaded up. Guy gets out here and replaces the tire. Sweet. Now we gotta get my car up there. We go to strap my car in and one of the strap was CUT in half and tied back together... so I gotta call them again cuz I got a half a strap that doesn't go over my fucking tire and is a HUGE liability with a cut strap. They can't bring another strap until today and they won't have an eta until around 8am.. was suppose to start driving last night and we are delayed. Upsold me on a prepaid full tank. got the car with 1/8 of a tank (50 miles to empty) Inspected the car myself and I can say they barely service it. Cabin filter could've used a change tires should've been rotated oil was pretty dark but whatever I was driving locally anyway. Anyway I went back inside before taking off to mention the tank and make sure I didn't get charged for it. The other guy marked my paper at 1/8th and assured me I wouldnt. They charge for fuell and they give me the car whit 3/8, I return it with 4/8. In 49 Years of travel I have never EVER been treated as badly as I was treated at the Tropicana Budget Rent a Car Location. There is a reason that they do not hang a photo and name of the manager on the wall of this business. There is a reason they do not provide a Telephone number of the regional Manager of this Business. Why? Because the business model is unethical and customers are victims. My favorite part of this traumatic event was when the "Supervisor" Kathyrn told me I should have "Read the Fine Print" before arriving. My second favorite part was when Valerie the Rep helping me spoke to me like dog with my children present. I have never encountered a business that is ran so poorly that angry customers are the norm and not the exception. Fraudulent Franchise. This isn't a real Budget. Do not rent with this location. They are scammers. The dirty games they play at this location. Oh and not to mention the car was dirty with no tags. I paid online with my debit card, came to this location and was immediately told that I didn't pass a credit check??? Weird. (Mind you I never gave them my social to run a credit check.) I was told that I had to use a credit card. I provided a credit card and they charged my credit card also. I ask about the charge on my debit card (original form of payment) , they told me it wouldn't process and not to worry. However it fully processed on my debit card. So basically I'm paying on both cards. Fraud. I needed the rental for an extra week. I called this location several times No answer. Employee (Bre) called back to see if I was returning or needed more time. I told her an additional week and I also told her about the incident with the debit card charge. She stated that they shouldn't have done that and she gave me her email so I can show her my proof of both charges. She also stated she would discount the extended week for the inconvenience. I emailed her immediately. On the day to return. I arrive back entrance to check in the rental. I waited for 15 mins. I got out the car walked in and all the workers was sitting/standing, talking. I asked for help. No one came out for another 15 mins to check the car in . I waited 30 minutes. Unprofessional. I go in to pay and to speak about the charges on the debit card which fully processed. Kathryn Karen (highly rude and unprofessional) steps in and states they could charge both cards??? She was talking in circles about how/why they charged both cards. I'm confused at this point. Never heard of anything like that, none of it made sense Smh. I'm standing at the window waiting, she states I was going to get charged daily of $151.00 for the additional week because the rental was never extended in their system. I told her I spoke with an employee to extended she stated it wasn't 't her problem I'm getting charged daily and I can leave and they will push it over to collections! I'm like WTH is going on! I told her to get someone on the phone to handle this now because that was not what I was told. She yelled that they were franchised own and I have to call corporate. She watch me stand on the phone with corporate for over 30 mins, even corporate took her name and location because they couldn't believe what they was hearing over the phone. Basically she was lying about rules and policies. Uneducated. Next she get on her phone with security who only fixes the rental rates ( again weird I never heard of) and she said I had to leave for being rude. I'm like how am I rude for asking about unauthorized charges. I immediately stated I would call the police to make a police report about fraud and Boom! Mysteriously the charges are changed back to weekly rate instead of daily for $151 per day. At this point I was ready to go. I took down as much information as I could before I left because I was going to follow up. As I walked out I checked the paper receipt! They changed the original weekly rate to a new rate and charge me for additional hours! They scammed me of $380.00 Then had the nerve to send a letter stating I could no longer rent with Budget or Avis company. How does a dirty franchise have the right! I have the right to ask questions for invalid charges. Never once did I curse or act out of character. I just wanted the money back that I was scammed out of! So for anyone! Find another company that will pay attention to detail. Dropped off rental 3 weeks later I got an email stating we had to pay fees for a dirty car. Mind u I had rented 3 different rental car agencies 2 of the 3 no problems. They had photos of the vehicle with stains n light soiled spots on it. When we dropped the car off we asked the girl if they could do a final inspection with them just to make sure we were in the clear. She said don't worry you'll be fine. I own a detailing company and work with rental agencies here in hawaii I know the protocol. While in vegas most time was visiting friends, shopping and checking out hotels. I'm not stupid to eat n leave stains knowing that we would be penalized. So I told rep when I called today I hate being accused of lying. She says we're not.
