got quoted 2 quotes for a 26ft box truck by siaosi one for a truck with a lift gate one without. the truck without the lift gate was 140 dollars cheaper than the truck with the lift gate. When I got to the location Siaosi was busy so he asked his colleague Miles if he could pull up the quote and check me out. he did so. we had to switch computers 3 times in the first 30 seconds because for some reason it was really confusing to pull up my quote on one of the 2 open computers that weren't being used. After pulling the quote up miles went back and forth with me saying that the truck needed to have insurance purchased for it while siaosi never mentioned anything like that verbally over the phone. I show up day of pick up "on time" and they said, "oh sorry we don't have anything available" Had I received a call 2-3 days at least before, I would have known to look for something else. NOTE: READ BBB Reviews before booking with Penske. They have only 1 star on BBB This place is a scam and what they do should be criminal. I would absolutely BEWARE of renting a truck or van from this place. I rented a moving van for my company because Penske had the best rates and had decent reviews. Upon requesting my quote I made it very clear I wanted to use my own insurance (as opposed to paying $75 per day for theirs). Everything seemed to be fine- I went, and picked up the van. Upon pickup I presented the female rental specialist my insurance and she said she couldn't accept that form because they required a COI (cert of insurance) from my company. She told me all I would have to do is call my insurance and they could email over a form. She also said that she was adding on their insurance in the meantime and would "back it out" of their system and remove it later. Mind you-- I've been told the whole time that their insurance is optional. The van's tank was only 3/4 of the way full on pickup and they told me they would throw in free blankets for the 1/4 tank of missing gas. Needless to say, this was only the start of the debacle. I was on my way driving from Vegas to Phoenix, when Penske emailed over their "insurance requirements"-- which were absolutely never mentioned to me or clarified during booking or pickup. Their insurance requirements require $1000000 in coverage. No, really-- 1 million dollars in coverage to cover an old $25K moving van. In order to increase my insurance coverage, it would be a cost of $400 (via my State Farm insurance-- which I already had full coverage that more than covered the van, my business and any type of injury etc.) 1million in coverage is gross overkill that nobody will ever have unless you're a professional moving company. That said, that's their bait and switch. By the time I actually read the email I already in Phoenix, and had no way of canceling my reservation. The next day I see a charge on my credit card for $721.85. The weeklong reservation we discussed was only supposed to cost $430, but with their insurance that they assured me was "optional" it increased the rate all the way to $721.85. The insurance is only optional if you have 1m in coverage and they won't tell you this until after you drive off. Now that I've paid almost double what I was quoted, I'm definitely NOT happy. I went to return the van after the weeklong rental and they gave me a new receipt for a $161.93 charge. I asked what this charge was for and the female attended assured me that this wasn't a charge at all-- it's a glitch in their system and would be backed out *** definitely not charged to my account. I asked several times and the customer service rep insisted that this would not be charged. She explained that every week their computer system turns over and this was just normal and their computer was charging me for an additional day but again-- it would be backed out. Not true. They charged an additional charge of $161.93 for an additional day, as well as an additional day's worth of insurance even though I turned in the van on time and didn't have it an additional day. They also said they would credit me $20 worth of free blankets for the 1/4 tank of gas that was missing from the van when I picked it up-- but nope, there was another charge on my account for $21.65 which I didn't approve or even sign for. Resolution: I called and asked to speak with a manager, Juan ignored my calls and never returned any of my calls when he said he would. I tried disputing the difference in my quoted price with my bank and Visa-- I provided them emails from Kyle Robison detailing where he confirmed I didn't want the insurance and he would refund me back for their charge once he received my insurance. I also provided my original contract and receipts for everything. Ultimately when you pick up their vehicles you sign a "digital contract" (that they skim through with their finger to the bottom) which nobody actually reads and then signs with their finger. This gives Penske the authority to basically charge your card for anything they want (seriously though-- not even joking). I even called corporate Penke and a woman named Amie Henninger was "helping" me try to resolve the situation. She ultimately apologized for the miscommunication and had Juan give me a refund for $50 for? The company was so disorganized Amie couldn't even locate the $161 charge and had me screenshot images of the debits from my checking account and email them over to her. Never again will I rent from Penske. We rented a 12' truck to pick up on Las Vegas, ordered at the corporate HQ, to move to Dallas. The truck which was a 2019, shut off on the highway only 100 miles from Las Vegas. The roadside assistance was horrible, 3 of us kept calling being on hold for hours. We asked for an immediate tow truck with a mechanic since we knew it was electrical or transmission. We waited 6 HOURS for a mechanic to show up, only to order a tow truck, which we have been asking for. They use all 3rd parties so no one communicates. I also was told where to leave the key, but the tow truck driver didn't like that so we had to TURN AROUND to place it in the right spot, as we were on our way to the town they wanted to tow us to. They sent us 150 miles OUT OF OUR WAY to spend the night and get our own hotel. After hearing the next morning they could have easy went back to the town we were in, or keep us on the highway to the next big city, infuriated me. I had 2 dogs and elderly parents with me. I was told the load swap crew would be at that location in AZ at 7am the next day, they showed up at 9. I asked for a larger truck and extra movers to help make this go faster, since they already delayed us by hours. Both the penske office in that town and myself fought to get a free upgrade to a 16'. Once we finally got on the road, which put us behind by 30 hours, we made it to the destination. When we dropped off the truck they had the audacity to say we were late, but at least waived that fee since I said it was their fault. Unfortunately, they wont reimburse the entire trip, after everything we went through, they only would give us half of the money back, which isn't enough. They sent us to the wrong location to get a new truck, they also had issues with the 2019 trucks according to the mechanic, so this isn't new. Their roadside assistance number is the worst. The most frustrating experience ever, do not use them. God forbid something happens to your truck you would be stuck on the side of the road. read more

Quality trucks? Absolutely! We have always used U-Haul trucks for moving but after our last experience years ago we made the switch to Penske and we were really glad we did! I made the reservation a week or so in advance with Morgan. I requested a 26 foot truck. Pricing was $150 for the day plus mileage cost. When they called to confirm the day before we moved, they expressed that they may not have the truck requested due to some people not returning their trucks that evening. I explained that I had to have a truck to move. Dillon who I was speaking with advised me that we would have a truck but it might be a smaller truck and they would provide me with a "severe" discount! Did I hear discount? Ok, we took our chances and showed up promptly at 7:00am. Sure enough there was not a 26 foot truck in sight but we did rent an 18 foot truck and received the offered severe discount. This truck was really clean, in good repair had a lift attached that made the moving so much easier and ran like a dream! It only took us two trips as our movers were magnificent and packed this truck like the belly of an airplane! We returned the truck at 5:30pm and paid only $109.00. My confidence in good customer service was recently tarnished before I had the pleasure of working with this location in securing a 26' moving truck to use for an office move. I work for a contractor so contracts, fine print and discovering hidden costs are our business. Penske were up against: Enterprise, who never returned my call Budget, who was initially low because of a 20% special but it seemed like it was run by a bunch of college students and insurance costs were outrageous which drove the cost up UHaul, nice enough, outrageous prices compared to all others Diana at this Penske location gave me the current Penske internet special of 20% off which ended up being the lowest cost in the end, she answered all my questions and I dealt exclusively with her the entire reservation process. She was available at the office, over email and on her cell, very responsive. All of the individuals are very professional. Penske also offers unlimited miles which the other's didn't and it seemed Penske's vehicles might have been newer. Both my supervisor and I agree Penske is top notch because they truly specialize in commercial/business vehicles unlike the other rental places who specialize mostly in personal-use rentals. Moving from California to Idaho in les than a week was stressful and expensive enough without the additional hair pulling and bartering that comes with dealing with truck rentals. Every time we had to deal with penske or one of its affiliates, customer service was top notch and cost very reasonable. It's like they're human! We needed to add a car carrier mid trip and they were responsive in locating one nearby and getting us hooked up very quickly and for not too many greenbacks. Would absolutely use them again. Their rates beat UHaul but the best part was when the truck was picked up. The office was easy to find, centrally located and clean. The front office staff were SO FRIENDLY, PROFESSIONAL AND NICE. The women working with my party received a phone call from an employee asking a question about another reservation. The clerk said "I am with a customer and will have to call you back". If one has spent any time in Las Vegas, one knows that good customer service is extremely rare. The clerk then went on to help my party in every way and was very sweet. After we left and started to pack the truck we quickly realized we had sorely underestimated our rope and blanket needs. When I went back the staff was beyond helpful. I couldn't give them anything less than a five star review, mainly for the customer service they provided. Dylan and two other managers, Chris and Rachel, really went above and beyond. I reserved 2 16' refrigerated trucks to cater to 5,000 people working at an outside event last weekend when it was 114 degrees. Dylan called me on the day I was to pick up the trucks and said "I don't know how to tell you this...". I immediately thought ok....we can do with one truck if needed. Then Dylan says "we don't have either truck". I said (in my head), "oh s**t, what are we going to do"? I told Dylan he was about to have 5,000 plus hungry people calling him if we can't get them their lunch. I panicked and we all called every truck company in town and no one had something to remotely fit our needs. I called Dylan back soon after and he said he was working on locating at least 1 truck if not both. Another grief stricken hour goes by and he calls and says they are sending a driver to Los Angeles to pick up a truck and drive it to me. They delivered it and hour and a half before I needed it. I needed two trucks but one was better than none. They went above and beyond and kept me constantly in loop in the search for a solution.
