Wonderful customer service is always a plus to me. In general in this type of service business one would expect general courtesy but the Budget rep was awesome & friendly! Easy location from Memphis Airport. Taxi fare a bit high. $15.00 for a 2 mile drive. Hmmmm... rolling eyes... is this for real??? As always good choice of cars to pick from. I've been a customer of this Budget franchise twice. The first time, about ten years ago, they quoted me a price on the phone that included mileage at no additional cost. Then they charged me $600 more for mileage after assuring me there would be no charge for mileage. The perky lady on the phone and the small print in the contract told ENTIRELY DIFFERENT STORIES. The second time -- today 3/1/21 -- I brought a rental in to extend usage for a few more days while my truck gets repaired. They had been charging me $40/day -- fair enough -- but suddenly they raised the rate to $120/day for the next 5 days. So I dropped the vehicle off and went to Enterprise. This may not be TECHNICALLY dishonest, but it reflects a pattern of what we attorneys call SHARP DEALING -- on the very edge of dishonesty -- that seems to characterize this Budget franchise. It is owned by a group called The Memphis Landsmen. Don't do business with this company. They are out to deceive you and empty your wallet -- by trickery. read more

Be very careful dealing with the Memphis Airport location. If you make your reservations through a third party, such as Costco Travel, you need to bring all documentation to the counter. Even then they will try to change the terms of the contract, such as sneak in 'additional driver' charges when it is waived by contract (even after I pointed it out!). Also, check the car carefully. The car category I selected online was not available to me because their car had "too many miles" and can only be driven within the city of Memphis (WTH?) They found me another car, but when I picked it up it was filthy inside and out. They hadn't bothered to clean it! This is an independent franchise location, which I later learned. I'm sure Budget has some standards the franchisees must follow, but this location is a joke. read more

They have really poor customer service. 1) The SUV type I requested was still at the airport so we settled for a mini van. 2) The tag was expired on the van. 3) Options were to downgrade mini van types, wait for someone to bring us a tag from the airport, or pick the tag up ourselves. 4) Upon retrieving the tag at the airport the employees were sitting around talking and my husband had to wait for them to do their job. I spoke with the store manager at Cordova location to request a discount for the inconvenience. I really wish companies would train their employees on having high quality customer service. Budget rental has definitely left a sour taste in my mouth and I doubt I use them for future rentals. read more

I would prefer to give less than one star, but it is not an option. I made a reservation for a one way rental with Budget Memphis. I traveled to the Memphis airport from out of state. I arrived at the rental counter. They informed me that they had no cars available for me to rent for one way even though I HAD A RESERVATION to do so. I asked the agent to uphold the agreement and find me another car, and he informed me that his only assistance would be to tell me to make a reservation with a different company (even though we could both see the long lines at the other rental counters). I would NEVER suggest this company to anyone. read more

i was billed for 4 days instead of 2 which was an issue, but not the problem. The problem is reaching a live human. Budget corp. does not have access to the franchise computer or billing system so they can't help either. Budget has the worst service in the industry...amateurs with a corporate culture that does not consider customer service as important. read more

UPDATE: We are sitting at a beautiful dinner and get a call from Memphis Budget. Of course we think they are calling to apologize for the appalling service we received. Instead it's a panicked Budget employee. They needed to know if we had a white or red car. They had given the wrong keys to someone and can't find the car. We told them we have a huge red truck. They so oh and hung up. One of our worst rental experiences. We are Budget Fastbreak members. We went to the booth in garage and there were 4 people sitting in the booth talking and staying warm (it was a cold afternoon). The lady working the booth said she didn't have it and we'd have to go back upstairs to the counter. We reiterated we were Fastbreak and she said no your not you have to go to counter. I stayed in the cold with the luggage while my husband went to counter. They tried to send him back to booth saying she was only working 5 more minutes. After he said no they finally helped him but he still had to return to booth to get the keys. We rented a full size car and they gave us an oversized pickup that was raised off the ground and you have to climb up into. When we said we need a car. They said too bad it's that or nothing. Then we had to wait 10 minutes for someone to come let us out (it was one of the guys from the booth visiting). Needless to say I will not be renting from Budget again. read more

Reserved a vehicle online and was quoted $410. Arrived and the vehicle was out of service so we got a free upgrade to a larger SUV however we were also quoted $585 as the rental price. I had proof of the quote on my phone and showed it to the clerk. We were told that we could dispute this on our return. On our return, I showed up early to dispute. I showed my original quote and the price was corrected, without question, to $408. We had no real issue other than the pricing - so renter beware and make sure you carry any original quotes since this location seems to choose how much they want to charge regardless of prior commitments yet will honor those commitments when challenged. read more

ATTN: DO NOT RENT FROM. SPEND A LITTLE MORE FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE I have recently switched to budget rental. I love the fastbreak service. Although arriving to Memphis airport I was greeted very rudely by the lady working the counter on Wednesday 21, 2016 at 8:00am. I walked up and stated I was here to pick up my reservation.(A Sport car)She took my license and said it's not ready. I said ok I'll wait. She replied with you're going to be waiting all day. I asked her what she meant. She said I don't have that challenger back until 5pm. At this point am frustrated. I told her I made a reservation. With a attitude she pointed to the two people behind me and said" you made a reservation, and they made a reservation. What do you want me to do?" At the end of the day dealing with a rude, unprofessional employee I ended up with a dirty Toyota Camry. If this is the level of service that Budget offers. I'd rather spend more and go back to enterprise rental. Thank you for my first unwelcoming experience with fastbreak. read more

Y'all...don't EVER rent anything from Budget Car Rental!!!! We rented a car for a business trip back in June. We reserved a Jeep online, got there to pick it up and they didn't have any. Not a huge problem because they offered to upgrade us for free. So they put us in a 2019 Dodge Challenger GT. I completed the inspection, the lady at check out inspected the car, and we went on our way. As we were leaving the rental place, my husband called and said it looked like something was caught up under the car. I didn't hear anything and it was driving fine so we kept going. We got home, loaded the car, and headed out the next day after church. Around Marion, AR we noticed a scraping sound so we pulled over to check. There was a plastic cover hanging down. Since we were going back through Memphis we stopped in where we rented it and showed them the cover. They switched us over to another car for no charge and had us fill out some paperwork about the damage. After the trip we returned the car and thought all was well. Lo and behold about a week later they send an email saying they were holding us responsible for the damage. I have been fighting back and forth with them and pointed out that we're pretty sure it was damaged when we received the car. They said because we didn't mark it on our inspection slip we're liable. THERE IS NO SPOT ON THE INSPECTION SLIP FOR THE UNDERCARRIAGE!!!! How in the world am I to know that I need to lay down flat on my stomach to check UNDER the car???? Why didn't the lady that checked us out do that when she checked the car???? To top it off, when the claim lady sent the follow up letter she noted that the damage WAS seen by Jiffy Lube during an oil change but didn't say whether that was before or after we rented it. Not to mention the fact that the claim lady doesn't answer her phone and takes about a week to respond to each e-mail. Save yourself a headache and some serious money and avoid Budget at all costs!!!! read more

On July 23, 2018, I rented a car from the Budget location at the Memphis airport. Within one hour of driving the car on July 23, 2018, the tire pressure light came on. I filled the tire with air so as to not cause further damage to the tire and exchanged the car the next day in Nashville where I was staying that night. I had to wait over an hour in Nashville for the Memphis Budget employees to fax over the necessary paperwork for the exchange (yes, fax!). The poor Nashville Budget employee was so apologetic. He had to call the Memphis location 3 times before they would fax over the paperwork. Memphis disconnected him one time and put him on hold for over 10 minutes another time. On August 21, I received a letter from Budget Rent A Car Licensee, Atlanta Georgia, charging me $243.77 for the tire damage. I disputed these charges based on the following: 1) Nails, screws, etc, cause slow leaks in tires, so it was very possible that the damage happened before I took possession of the car. The car had over 1300 miles on it. 2) The previous renter exchanged the car before it left the lot. Budget Rent A Car would not tell me why the previous renter made the exchange, but I believe it was because the tire pressure light came on. 3) It is impossible to determine unequivocally who is to blame for the tire damage. And a reputable company would give deference to the customer. Budget Atlanta did lower the charge to $168.98, but only if I paid the fee by September 5. I asked them to wait 7-10 business days for the corporate office to review the claim and the Claims Manager, Heather Ivins, said no and if it wasn't paid by September 5 she would increase the charge back to $243.77 and forward to the attorney. I believe a budget employee damaged the tire, and they are trying to recoup the cost from their customers. It's terrible to treat a customer like this. I will never, ever, rent from Budget again. Pay a little extra for honest service. You'll save money in the long run. read more

I made a reservation over 2 months in advance. When I arrived to pick the car up on Saturday at noon. The guy said the car was on the way and we should get the paperwork done to save time. We did that. The car showed up at 1:45pm. If it was going to be an hour and 45 mins. They should have said that instead of repeatedly saying it will be here soon. Then when it arrived it had a temp tag that was expired. And they closed in 15 mins. And it was the only SUV they had. They 30 day temp tag was issued in November 2017 and this is May 2018. I had to leave for a trip early the next morning. I will not ever rent from Budget again. read more

I will not rent from this Budget location ever again. I rent a car several times a year from many budget locations- because they take a debit card. My reservation states I have to show my flight itinerary, which I have always done on my phone at all other locations. This Budget location happens to be a 15 min walk from the terminals. I get there and am told I have to have my itinerary PRINTED OUT! I asked if they could print it for me.. No, but if I go back and ask my airline, they will do it for me. Then she asks why I would ever travel without a copy of my itinerary. I told her I do travel with it...on my phone! I don't even print my boarding pass...all done mobile. She had no response. I finally asked to speak to her supervisor. She said she is upstairs and would have to call her. And just stares at me... OK.. call her! She walks around the wall and comes back in less time it takes to make the call and says her supervisor told her I can email it to them and she can print it out. Finally... getting to the rental.. I choose to rent a car that has over 27 mpg... Now I'm told they are out of cars and she offers me (1 person) a minivan. Ummm, No. Then a truck...No. Then a small suv.. I asked if there are really no cars available. She rudely tells me she already told me that. I took the small SUV. (Also, Apparently this location deposit amount is $300 vs $200 at every other budget I've rented from.) She then tells me she has to have them clean it, to sit on the bench until its ready. 22 min later, it was finally ready. Not one other person rented a car from them during the whole time I was there (Over 45 min). That says something right there! I ended up with a Ford Escape. It was a nice ride- the only positive part of this experience. read more
