I had a very frustrating experience at the Budget location on Wood Avenue in Edison. I made a reservation in advance through Budget's official website and called ahead to verify that my driver's license would be accepted. I provided all required information upfront and was told everything was fine. However, when I arrived for pickup, I was denied the rental due to a "location-specific policy" regarding probationary licenses. This policy was never disclosed to me during booking or in my prior call with customer service. I was assisted by Sam at the counter and later spoke with the manager, Bobby Sabharwal. While I understand that policies may vary by location, the way this situation was handled was disappointing. When I asked for clarification or simple written documentation explaining the denial (so I could report back to my company), I was repeatedly interrupted and told to "have legal follow up," without being provided any immediate documentation or support. There was little effort to listen or offer a solution in real time. As a result, I was left without a vehicle after traveling to the location for a time-sensitive, work-related obligation. To be clear: I verified eligibility before booking I showed up with all required documentation I was still denied service due to a policy that was never communicated This reflects a breakdown between corporate booking and franchise-level policies, and unfortunately, the burden fell entirely on me as the customer. I recommend that anyone booking here: Call the specific location directly Ask detailed questions about license requirements Get confirmation in writing if possible There needs to be better transparency and basic customer care in situations like this. I could not be happier with the service that I received from this Avis rental car office I had driven up from Florida and I returned the car here on Wood Avenue. I felt I was so blessed to have found a car through Avis in Orlando when I returned the car kindness compassion I was so happy they were so kind I'm so blessed to have this company in my area where I live thank you again. read more

The worst experience I have ever had renting a car in my life. Trying to get to a very ill parent. An Avis error tells them "do not rent" to me. A complete shock and so I get on the phone and expect to get this solved. Avis CS phone rep tells the clerk and owner, that I am clear and this is a mistake. The franchisee was rude and says no. Stranded in Iselin, NJ, 5PM on a Friday. No help, no car, no more rentals at Avis/Budget. Lots of other rental cars in the area. read more

Near Metropark train station in Iselin NJ. Excellent service, great rates. I have rented from this car rental outpost several times. Their cars are always clean. Prices are fair. The proprietor is very friendly and informative. Less than a five minute walk to the Metro Park train station. Three minutes if you're lucky with the traffic lights. The Manager here - Bobby is unhelpful. Don't expect you will be treated nicely. The agents here are good for only check-in and check-out and will not be able to address any issue whatsoever. When I had concern with my reservation, the agent there told me he cannot help and text-ed his manager to call on my mobile who never called back. When I asked agent to help as manager was not reachable, he said call customer service, I am willing to help and I understand your concern but I do not have authority to do anything else than check-in and check-out. When I called customer service, they said you need to talk to location agent or manager. You will land up going back and forth between them I would suggest to stay away from this rental location. If things are smooth you will probably be ok, but if you have any issues, you will be wasting time with this manager read more

Very unprofessional customer service. Specially that bald head guy. Return time was 11:40 I was there 11:38 . Gave him car keys , he complete the work he was doin and then came out side for mileage reading time was 11:45 and then he charged me for an 1hr extra , never do business with this people. read more

The gentleman that worked at this particular location was very kind. Very busy but kind. The fault here is the company itself. Avis Car Rental is absolutely the worst company I have EVER rented from! Period. I am just... #shocked and #appalled and all the fees and secret charges I was not informed about when renting the car. Then when I tried to get them to fix the rate I originally was quoted they would not. Long story short I was quoted a rate online that was $100 cheaper than what I was charged for. When I called to try to fix it they said they could not. I said I had screenshot of the pricing I was quoted and they did not have anywhere I could send it to. Now almost 1 1/2 week after I drop the car off they want to charge me $19 ontop of a $15 toll. Did you know they charge you $3.95 a day once you use a toll? Never rent from this place they scammer. I had called them a few times and they never answer and when they did I had told them they over charge me for the rental because in my receipt was 78 and when I check my credit card they charge me 127. I talk to the dude to see why they did and they didn't have no answer because I return the car on time and with full gas and they told me they was gonna check that out and they having solve yet. It been 3 weeks. And I'm going to call them again very upset. read more

We found a great price online from Budget, and I wondered how this would actually work out when we got there. We took the train from the airport to rent here, to save all those high taxes for airport rentals-- our small car (Nissan Versa Note) was $300 for 2 weeks, unlimited mileage, all fees included. That was about half the quoted price for the airport. The guys at the desk were fine, there were no hidden charges, and no hassles at the end. Manager gave us a ride to the train station at the end with all our luggage-- only two blocks, but a great save. Recommend this anytime as a way to save on the airport rentals. read more

Beware of this location. The car they gave me had only 3 quarters of a tank, I assumed this is was same way I have to return it, later on I am charged $24 for fuel. I ensured I returned the car with 3 quarters of a tank full, same as I got it, When I called the clerk says "my contract says I received a full tank", I most definitely did not.!!!
