Bobby Sabharwal- The Owner/Operator of this location was absolutely rude and dismissive to me and the other patrons inside the store. I reserved a 12' box truck for my move. I arrive and he tells me their sold out and tries to get me into a 9' cargo van telling me it has the same cargo capacity. Anyone with a brain will tell you a smaller vehicle has less room for caego. He hated the fact i booked through my costco membership and he didnt want to adjust the price moving into a smaller vehicle, he wanted me to pau the same price as my original reservation. Even when I finally agreed to move forward with my reservation, I asked if he could throw in a handtruck rental for my troubles and even that he couldn't accommodate for me. I've already reached out to corporate customer service because this location is in desperate need of reform. If this review helps keep customers away from this location then I know I have done my friends and neighbors a great service. If I could give zero stars I would was pathetic I had a truck rental a one day truck rental from Arlington Virginia to Edison New Jersey I picked up the truck on June 7 dropped it off on June 8 they charged me to June 9 I told them on the phone I didn't need the truck to the ninth and I told them at the desk I don't need the truck ninth they said it didn't matter if you drop it off on the eighth you will not be charged for the ninth well that is a lie your company lies your employees lie this is the worst company ever I will never rent from you again and I will make it my business to make sure everyone I know who has college students in that area not to rent from your company because you lie and you rip people off read more

Disgusted I even have to leave one star to write this review! The owner is truly one of the most I'll-mannered, discourteous men I've even encountered. His staff follow his lead in rudeness. Please be advised WORST RENTAL AGENCY out there!!! They lure you in with an online reservation, only to get there and have nothing available. While waiting, I observed his unpleasant behavior with 3 other customers as well! He couldn't care less. Atrocious!!! DO NOT RENT HERE! SCAM ALERT!!!!!! Please trust the reviews and save yourself the time, money and aggravation and rent from somewhere else, like UHAUL that is two blocks away from this disgusting Budget location. Multiple Problems: 1. They messed up our reservation. We had two reservations for one day a week apart. When we showed up for the first reservation, they gave us the car for the reservation of the following week and charged us two $75 no show fees for the car we had reserved for THAT DAY. We didn't realize until the next week when we were told we had already picked up that reservation. 2. They ALSO charged us for two days instead of one when we returned the car before closing on the same day claiming we brought it back the next morning. WHAT A SCAM! 3. The car was filled with garbage. Fast food leftovers, napkins, and plastic bags filled the cab. 4. They leered at my teenage daughter. 5. Two different customer service agents hung up on me after a total of 2 hours of trying resolve the mistakes (purposeful) that were made at this Budget location. Do yourself a favor, go to UHAUL. They were professional, caring and upgraded us to a larger truck for free. No hassles, no leering. Refreshing. Still waiting for my refunds to appear in my bank account. This place deserves no stars. Start with the rental they gave me initially, I was driving away when I noticed the hood was unlatched. I had to pull over and close it properly. I also noticed the sluggish transmission so I returned it and requested a replacement. Naturally I was pissed and let it be known. The gentleman who identified as the owner got offended although I was the one at risk. If I didn't need the rental for business meetings I would have sought another company, in hindsight I will have to do just that in the future. To add insult to Injury the dude said he was taking 10% off the bill which he did not do. I think the owner should find some competent help, he seemed overwhelmed. Judge for yourself read more

REnted a car from here, I wish I read the review before hand but it was my husband who made arragements. The car was parked in weeds atleast 5 feet tall, dirty, the office was dirty, service slow & the car had ticks. Talk about skeved out. DO yourself a favor stay away from this place. read more

Don't do it!! This location is horrible!! This is the 2nd time I have rented a vehicle through them and the 2nd time they did not have a vehicle for me when I arrived at the location. Customer service forget it!! And then had the nerve to charge me a higher rate for the vehicle they did have. The car that I was able to get was filthy and the nob to shift the mirrors is broken I would tell anyone to rent from Enterprise hands down. read more

Too bad I didn't read these reviews before reserving. I reserved a 16' moving truck online in June. I estimated I would have it for 20 hours. The website says 24 hours for xx price. I returned it the next day, 22.5 hours later. First, the staff couldn't find my reservation. Not in the computer, not in the paper pile next to the computer. They tried for half an hour and then said they'd have to call me/email me with a receipt, because they couldn't check me in because they don't have a record of the truck being checked out. When I finally got a copy of the receipt (a month and 5 phone calls later), there was a $25.33 charge for late return. I called Budget office and they said I had to call an 800 number. I called Budget Customer Service and the woman said she refunded the money directly to my debit card. Never happened. Rent from someone else! It's worth the extra. read more

Less than 2 hours before the rental pick-up, when I was already on the NJ Transit train to get here, the manager calls me up to tell me that I shouldn't waste my time trying to get there as they won't have one available when I reach! At this point, I've already left home, and have an entire weekend of things I needed to do, and am stuck in the middle of New Jersey without the car! PLEASE STAY AWAY from this Budget rental location! The previous reviews are true. Too bad my situation forced me to rent at this branch due to a time crunch and the online reservation said my cargo van was only available at this branch. When I arrived at 10:00AM to pick up my cargo van, to my horror it was not available due to "maintenance/oil change." The vehicle should have been ready the night before or at least ready early that morning. No other cargo vans were available at any other locations either for the same day. The owner/operator of the location was rude, condescending and no apologies were given. He even went as far to argue with me and tell me"if you don't like it, then call customer service to complain." He then exited the building after I said I am going to report him to headquarters and made him write his name on a business card. He disappeared for quite a while and then he drove off in his SUV. The employee helped me on the phone with customer service by getting me into a larger box truck (which I could not drive in the GSP!) and more money per mile! I was not given the internet special nor was I compensated in any way. The interior of the truck was filthy with broken glass shards, spilled soda sticky stains, and the oil change sticker read it was overdue on an oil change by 30,000 miles. I felt gross in the filthy cabin of the truck and worried about the overdue/dirty oil! The truck already was pushing over 160,000 miles at the time of rental. My entire morning was wasted arguing with the owner operator of branch and on the phone with customer service. The moving company was to arrive at my house to help move items in the morning, but I was late due to this Budget's location incompetence! What a nightmare situation and I'm still in shock with the owner's behavior and lack of responsibility and no apologies on his part. read more

I placed a reservation for an SUV on Nov 16th via Kayak, Over a month in advance of my trip in order to obtain better rental rates. I received a call on Dec 2nd from the "manager",2 weeks before my planned trip to tell me that my reservatiion would be cancelled as there would be no available SUVs for that date. This is completely unacceptable. As it is now so close to Christmas I will inevitably have to pay a premium for booking so late. The manager did not offer to assist locating a similar vehicle at another of their many locations. Customer service said that there was nothing they could do since the manager provided 24hrs notice. Really? They also did not offer to find in the budget network, a similar vehicle. I have written a letter to the corp. office. If a solution is not provided, I will take my claim to small claims court to regain the difference in my fees. Lodge a complaint with the better business bureau for the additional fees. I believe they saw that the rate I found was lower than what they would obtain for the same period and decided that they would cancel the reservation. FIND another rental agency, these people seem quite dishonorable. Earnings are down huh? read more

I had left something in a car I rented and called to see if they could just mail it back (it was not a big item - could fit in a manila envelope). They would not. I mentioned I was a frequent FastBreak customer and they said they weren't required. I get that but I would think to keep me loyal, they might take that extra effort. I found out they were a franchisee and not under direct authority of the parent. first off,..let me say when i leave a review its serious. I am a go with the flow type of guy so it takes an extreme error for me to log in and make this yelp account. This is the most manipulative place ive ever been to. I used them instead of the closer piscataway location because they charged me close to $75.00 for tolls when i didnt even use the ezpass holder they have;it was resolved but i didnt like the service so i switched to the edison branch. I had a rental longer than expected and when my time to return the unit came i called Joe. I wanted the cheapest car aviolable because i didnt want to spend money on a car im just taking to work(my current vehicle was in the shop for repairs btw..thus the rental).He explained to me how hell give me the rate for the cheapest car and i could stay in my current rental. i even took insurance off so itll be cheaper because my commute was so short and my car was going to be finished in a day or so. Maaann first i got a random $200 hold charged on my card,then i was told the difference for the rental would be taken off. it wasnt..all in all i spent about 670 on a DAMN RENTAL CAR..it cost more than the repair i had on my bmw(not showing off the brand just stating that a water pump replacement in a 2 series bimmer isnt cheap yet cost less than a rental for a short time.And anytime i called to extend my rental i asked for prices and what an estimate of the extra time would be..i was NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER told anything close to 276. if you have to rent from them..do everything online and prepay so you dont have to deal with these manipulative a-holes. ill never use these guys again at all. read more

I hope that anyone reading this review take it serious. I made a reservation on line for budget rental. A couple days before picking up my rental we stopped by to see the passenger capacity (we rented a full SUV because we needed a 7 passenger car). The guy at the desk (wish I got his name), Said he didn't have one on hand but the reservation was a 7 passenger SUV and he will have one for me on the pick up date. Well upon arriving at Budget the day of pick up they did not have a full size SUV and they didn't want to honor my reservation that I did on line because the price on line was extremely cheaper than they rent the SUV. They said the only thing they can offer me is a full size car well we own a full size car and that's not what we needed. They called one of the managers that recently had open heart surgery(I believe his name is Ken). He didn't want to even work with us on the price, he wanted us to pay 800.00 over the price that we got on line. If we wanted to pay an additional 800.00 we would have used Hertz and rented a luxury SUV not BUDGET. Well we ended up driving our own car. It changed my vacation completely, I couldn't accommodate everyone after renting a big beach house for the week. I will be telling everyone about my horrible experience and I will be calling better business bureau for false advertising and bait and switch. read more
