On a Sunday, with less than an hour before closing, I was able to make contact with this location and speak to Kenny and explain my urgent needs. Within arriving at this facility 30 minutes later Kenny had all the paperwork prepared and my ability to hit the road without delay. I returned the vehicle four days later and explained my need to rent again the day after Christmas. Kenny explained to book online to ensure a vehicle would be available due to the holiday turnaround time. I received a phone call from Kenny at 0900 the morning of the rental informing me that he had the vehicle ready for pick up on the lot.

The door is locked. Meanwhile I had all my luggage outside on the sidewalk. I decided to call the number on their door.. I spoke to a rep called Michelle. She said it can be a few hours for someone to be at the location, she could not confirm whether someone would be at this location or not. Avoid this location at all costs.

My sales coordinator was Rose, she was a joy to work with, as were Tim & Tim, the 2 gentlemen who assisted with the financing. All 3 of them are very personable, customer oriented & know their stuff. All my questions were answered to my satisfaction, everything was thoroughly explained. The monthly payment was a little more than I wanted to pay, but for what I got, it's well worth it. I loved the fact that I didn't need to haggle to get a great price, the price you see on the website is the price that you pay, but keep in mind that's before all taxes, fees, & any extras that you want are added on. For the test drive, I took the car to my mechanic, who checked the car out thoroughly, the car passed with flying colors, with a couple of minor issues that were addressed before I drove off the lot. I can honestly say that in all my years of buying cars, this was the easiest, most pleasant car buying experience that I've ever had. I highly recommend Hertz Schaumburg.

However as we were told by our sales rep they only have 1 guy who does the finances. This causes a huge backup if there is literally anyone else there trying to buy a car. We were there from 9:30am to 2:30pm. While buying a car is a process, it's not a 5 hour process. Esp since there is no haggling involved and we had the car we wanted picked out. By the time we were able to sign our contract we were already in a huge hurry So we had to rush the most important part of the whole thing. We carved out 3 hours, were fine with 4, then started to get annoyed and anxious at 5 We also noticed an interior light wasn't working during our test drive. The sales rep mentioned they would have someone swap it out but by the time we left it was still out. Either they forgot, or somehow in 5 hours had no time to swap out an interior lightbulb. They did end up changing it a few days later though We would defiantly go back and recommend to friends. Just make sure to bring lunch haha

We were picked up at the body shop and offered a ride at drop off. We specifically asked for a sedan as we have a small garage in Chicago and they accommodated our request with a hybrid Hyundai Elantra. Mike spent time with us explaining the nuances of the hybrid functionality before we left which was very helpful and how to add the vehicle to or I-pass account, so we did not occur rental transponder charges. Upon entering, only one employee was there to take care of 4 or 5 clients and was completely overwhelmed. We and another customer were told that there were two trucks available; one 15 miles away and one with the keys stuck in the drop box. My dad being the tool man that he is, grabbed a crow bar out of his car and jimmied the key box open so that we could get a truck. The other customer, poor guy, argued with the employee (he too had made a reservation days before) just so that he could get the additional mileage covered by Budget, and headed on his way to another town. When we finally got our keys, checked out the outside of the vehicle and hopped into the truck, we were an hour and a half behind schedule. After returning the truck, and finding out there was no mileage reported on the receipt and filling the gas tank up to where it was when we got the truck (3/4 full) we found out that we were charged for an additional 40 miles and a gas charge for $40 and $11 to fill it up completely. Still waiting to get my refund.

Received car with a nonfunctional trunk so back in line for another rental. Finally received a vehicle. At drop off (Schaumburg) I was charged a fuel charge even though the tank was FULL. The guy at the desk said he cannot reverse fuel charge because of "outdated system."

Every question was met with attitude, and the level of hostility was unbelievable. The car itself was filthy, clearly not cleaned before I received it. There were stains, dust, and trash left inside. On top of that, the car had multiple issues malfunctioning, making me question how they are even allowed to rent vehicles in this condition. The fact that they would hand a customer a car like that says everything about how little they care. And when I left an item in the vehicle and tried to retrieve it, the staff and manager acted like I was an inconvenience and made the process way harder than it needed to be. No empathy, no effort, no respect. I will never rent from Hertz again and I strongly recommend that no one else does either. Save yourself the headache, the disrespect, and the unsafe cars. This location is a perfect example of why people avoid Hertz altogether.
