I am a designer and hired Century to do several pieces for my clients. The day before installation, they informed me nothing was ready -- forcing me to cancel my entire install and multiple other teams at a cost of $1,300. Asking for more time is one thing, but failing to communicate is another. When the pieces finally arrived, the workmanship was sloppy and I was mortified that these were the pieces delivered to my clients. They failed to follow instructions in my emails which specified trim spacing. They ruined thousands of dollars of fabric and trim. Rather than apologizing or offering to fix the issues, the manager became aggressive -- shouted profanity at me during the meeting I arranged in hopes we could find a solution. I left feeling unsafe. Their delivery crew scratched my client's floors and door when they picked up the pieces and when they returned them. Unprofessional, careless, and unwilling to stand behind their work. We had a 5 year old recliner not that expensive when new but was showing wear and we could not find one that was a swivel and a rocker the same size. So thought I would check into reupholstering it. Did my homework and want to share my thoughts. First called Lewis&Sheron, they were having a sale on fabrics ending that day so I went there. Walked in, several salespeople at desks, on phones. Someone directed me to an area to search fabrics. Finally after looking myself, asked someone if they could help. They spent about 5 minutes with me. There were maybe 3-4 other customers in the place. I decided on a fabric similar to what was on the chair and got an estimate. Labor was about $800, pick up and delivery was going to be $150 (I live about 5 miles at the most from store.) Anyway took a piece of the fabric home and thought "What am I thinking?!!" Chair was $500 new!! So I went to The Mad Stichers. The woman who waited on us was the daughter of the owner/upholsterer. She said the labor would be $1200!!!! Was very discouraged but thought we would try one more---Century. Erica had me at $475 labor and $75 pick up and delivery. Fabric selection was awesome. No issues whatsoever, the delivery guys were very nice. The chair was still more than the original price but the workmanship was outstanding, the chair is GORGEOUS if a recliner can ever be described that way and we would highly highly recommend them!! I can't say enough how great Century Upholstery is! I had an old Roche Bobois knock-off chaise that I wanted reimagined. I gave them a picture of what I would like the chaise to look like and they were able to create a new chaise for me. I am beyond pleased how well made it is and how great it looks. I've never had furniture reupholstered before, so this was a first for me and I wasn't sure how to approach it. In requesting a quote; I sent photos of my sofa and chair, measurements, and a reference photo of a sofa that I really liked as far as details are concerned. The company responded quickly with a quote and I was ecstatic! You can't beat having the furniture picked up AND delivered for $69 either! The delivery guys showed up and 1 was really nice, while the other was beyond rude and complained through the whole process. Once Century Upholstery had the furniture, they responded to my emails rather quickly. (I must say that Erica is pretty great when it comes to response time). But they completely ignored the reference photo that I sent and told me that certain details I wanted would cost more. Upon receiving my furniture today, what was actually done to it looks decent. It isn't exactly what I wanted, but the craftsmanship looks to be of quality. Unfortunately, the same guys came to deliver and I swear they'd throw your stuff on the front lawn if they could. The plastic comes off of the chair, they're digging into the brand new upholstery with their bare dirty hands.... outside in the pollen. The one guy with braids looks at my doorway, then back at the chair and swears it won't fit. Makes one half-assed attempt and gives up, then asks me, "Do you want us to take it back or leave it out here?" So the couch is now in my garage with the chair slumped over it, barely covered by a plastic sheet. I've now had to hire movers to bring them into my apartment. So long story short: quality work, timely but poor communication, god awful delivery. If you want to work with this company; I recommend being somehow beyond clear when describing your project, give slightly less fabric than they suggest because they'll overestimate and keep the rest, and either deliver the furniture yourself or hire someone else. read more

Over many years of having furniture made and upholstered we used Craig Swenson. He was a super craftsman. He recently retired so we were at a loss and in timeframe squeeze. Century Upholstery was recommended to us. We are very particular about the quality of the furniture we make and didn't know what expect. We'll let me say that they did a fantastic job for us and there is no need to look any further. Erica and the owner were amazing to deal with and built us a magnificent king bed fit for a king at a very reasonable price. There are other well known Upholsterer's that are not only arrogant but overpriced.The people at Century are not only friendly and accommodating but extremely knowledgeable at their craft. I chose Century Upholstery upon reading the good reviews that they had received. I sent a photo of the chair and the fabric I'd chosen and they sent a quote in a timely fashion. When dropping off my wingback chair, they patiently explained the cushion options and springs vs. webbing. I was pleased with the price and absolutely delighted with the reupholstery work. The only glitch was that they were running behind and it took an extra week. Did such a great job albeit more than anticipated but it's because they really needed to reinforce stuff and replace all the stuffing. So it was alright and they did call me to double check before they did anything else. Looks fantastic. Fantastic professional service and craftsmanship. So hard to find a good and reasonably priced upholster. They often have coupons and special pricing in the home magazine or other service magazines. Beware, their shop is hard to find Tilly road exit around there and located behind warehouse in the very back of industrial area and behind the auto body shop. I had a VERY frustrating experience with Century Upholstery. I had asked to have my unused fabric returned when they returned my chairs (I ordered extra for a future project) and they forgot to return it and said I would have to come pick it up. When I got there I was directed to stacks of fabric rolls and left to search for it myself. I made three trips to the warehouse to search and was never able to locate it. The young woman at the desk was difficult to rude through the entire process and completely unsympathetic that their error resulted in me being out 7 yards of fabric. The quality of the work was fine, but there are better places in Atlanta where you don't have to deal with such poor customer service. read more
