It always amazes me how restaurants of the same chain can be so inconsistent. I ate at one of these before and it was some of the best barbecue I have had in Alabama. Based on that experience I tried this one and it was a mistake. I had the turkey and ribs combo with coleslaw and baked beans. The turkey was pulled and never had pulled turkey before. It had a very strange texture. It did not taste smoked at all. I put what they call hot sauce on it which was actually just an oil that was all heat no flavor. The ribs were small and did not pull easily from the bone. The membrane was still intact which is a No-No in the barbecue circles I move in. The coleslaw was the worst coleslaw I've ever tasted in my life. No mayonnaise no sugar no nothing but maybe vinegar. It was just cabbage and something. The barbecue beans were very good they were the best part of the whole meal. They had a sweet flavor but not overbearing. The iced tea was fine it was just iced tea but at least it wasn't old. A customer came in and asked about a Senior Citizens Discount and was told because there was already a discount on Tuesdays they didn't offer it. I wouldn't eat this if I were dying of starvation nor would I feed it to a dog. Okay, that was dramatic but I'm actually sort of serious. My partner and I stopped in while road tripping and were disgusted. The chicken had colors that shouldn't be on chicken. Everything was clearly processed and the food was all lukewarm. The bread was microwaved and felt like rubber that could have been used as a dog toy. We had just a few bites and trashed it. Talk about a waste of $23. Fingers crossed we don't get food poisoning. Wow, just Wow! I publish content on YouTube. I travel to restaurants, taste the food and then do an informative review of the business. It's good advertising for the most part. This time though, the manager said I couldn't do a YouTube video. What?? I'm always upfront when I order, and I tell the person behind the counter what my intent is. I really don't have too I just do it as a courtesy. As soon as I said YouTube, the loudmouth manager said I couldn't do it and that I am not allowed to film his people. I told him I NEVER film people, just the food and I wouldn't want him in my video. We went back and forth for a bit, and I decided to leave and went to a real BBQ place, Williams BBQ a couple miles down the road and they were more than happy for me to review their place. New favorite place in Cullman!! We visited LawLers and got the family meal which was a pint of Mac and cheese, half a pint of green beans, meat and 8buns!!! It fed our family of 4 perfectly. I've been craving it for days now and as soon as we get back to cullman we will be going. This place has an inside and a drive through which is really cool for barbecue. I had late afternoon lunch here on Friday. I ordered a BBQ pork sandwich, 1/2 pint of Brunswick stew and a sweet tea. All that for about 11 bucks. I thought that was very reasonable. My friends and I were the only ones in the restaurant, and service was very quick. That had my order ready by the time I finished preparing my tea at the drink station. I was impressed with the sandwich. The bun was stacked with a generous portion of pulled pork and then topped with coleslaw. The meat was tender and flavorful. The coleslaw was a good complement, not too sweet or too sour. Serving coleslaw on top is considered Carolina-style and that is fine with me. The individually packaged container of Lawler's BBQ sauce was good, and a good was to ensure the sauce is consistent. The Brunswick stew was just okay in my opinion. It was very thin, and more brothy that stew-like. Also, it was more vinegar base than I like. But, I'm glad I tried it. Brunswick stew recipes are always going to be a little different. read more

I had the pulled pork plate with bbq beans and potato salad, she had the baked potato with shredded chicken and we were very pleased. They have a hot sauce that really is HOT (the way I like it). I would've given it 5 stars but was somewhat disappointed with the ONLY entrance to their parking lot on the main road and not one from the WalMart lot like the other restaurants. I lived in Alabama for several years and I've had a LOT of different barbecue (definitely consider myself a connoisseur). I'd never been to LawLers, but stopped by while traveling last week to get dinner take out. They are currently only doing drive thru, which I didn't realize when I ordered from my RV with a plan to walk over from the Walmart parking lot... they let me walk through the drive thru! It was hilarious and I was happy they were able to accommodate. My mom and I both got the huge super stuffie taters with pork on top. I had mine with bbq sauce and she ate hers without. We both loved them and had a lot of food left when we were done eating - they really are huge. I'm adding this to my favorite BBQ spots and if I'm ever in the area again/near another LawLers, I'll definitely have to stop by! read more

This "food" is disgusting. For anyone to say that they are a smoked food "connoisseur" and like this garbage....no they don't. I took pics to show you the amount of grease in 1/2 an ounce of this travesty. It tasted bad, like sour and salty....they claim that they marinate this stuff before they smoke it. No smoke flavor at all, none. It stunk like bad pork. It came with fresh baked rolls and they went to Walmart and bought a bag of "ballpark" buns....the garbage pecan pie is prepackaged Sara Lee. Ugh. The coleslaw? Tastes like something they cleaned out of their mower blades....thank go that the Mac and cheese was Velveeta, at least that resembled a food product, somewhat. From BBQ plates to sandwiches they have the typical BBQ selection. For some reason the BBQ nachos jumped out at me. The typical build starts with a bed of tortilla chips (store bought) layered with cheese sauce (I had them hold this), choice of meat (I went with pork), grated cheese (I went with this), Jalapenos (I went with this too) and sour cream (didn't have this) and smothered in their sweet BBQ. This plate was awesome! At less than $7.00 this is packed with great flavored BBQ pork. I would order this again without any hesitation. I was good enough that it would make it hard to try something else. Great pricing as well as a quick place to stop and grab a bite to eat especially if you're in a rush.
