Terrible!! If I could leave zero stars I would! Stayed recently at "The Grand Bentley", one of Buffalo's cabins. What was supposed to be a lovely trip in the woods with some girlfriends, turned into us being mostly inside due to the fact that a terrible sewage smell took over the property. We were unable to use the hot tub, fire pit, grill, deck. Upon being notified, Buffalo sent a contractor out who attempted to cover up the smell. It did NOT work! Smelled so bad the entire time!!! The management company acted as if we weren't telling the truth! Definitely would NOT RECOMMEND renting with this company!!! read more

We loved our cabin! We stayed for a long weekend and got to enjoy the eclipse while in the hot tub. Everything was clean and ready upon our arrival and our hot tub needed more chlorine and they sent out the maintenance man on a Sunday , he replaced the filter, wiped down the sides, and replaced the chlorine. He was so friendly and was in and out pretty quick! We will be staying with them our next trip! read more

If you enjoy the smell of POOP...then The Grand Bentley, one of Buffalo's cabins in Rockbridge is where you need to stay. Upon arrival we could smell sewage that was coming from the backyard, which prevented us from using any of the outdoor amenities, which was the purpose of our girls trip. After contacting property management several times they sent out a contractor who admitted that this was an issue with the last renters and they did not have time to fix the issue before our arrival. He continued to lay limestone and straw over the leaking leach bed in the backyard and said, "it shouldn't smell like crap anymore, enjoy the rest of your stay." It continued to smell like sewage and we spent the rest of stay indoors. I do not recommend renting from Buffalo Properties. read more

The Grand Bentley Property is perfect IF you LIKE TO SMELL POOP and LIKE NOT BEING ABLE TO USE the outdoor amenities that are a part of your rental contract - deck, fire pit, hot tubs, etc. The Management Company was combative, unwilling and quick to point blame elsewhere whilst failing to resolve the problem or offer a solution. What a wonder cabin & awesome customer service. We stayed in Hocking Creek Reserve & it was all as promised an more. They said it was pet friendly - and they delivered. Large fenced in back yard, latches on the porch and multiple exits from both levels to let our two boxers in and out. We enjoyed the pool table, relaxed in the living room, had fire in fire pit outside while pups played, soaked in hot tub & visited several of the hiking trails during our long weekend. Kitchen was stocked with higher end appliances and special details like a crock-pot, blender, full wine set & highball glasses. The leather couches where comfy & good selection of channels to relax in evening. We played countless games of pool, poker, cards & listened to music each night. No one in our family plays piano - but it's beautiful and just waiting for someone talented to play it. We grilled out one night & relaxed on deck- full set of wicker deck chairs and porch swing. Best part - pups could be with us because porch is fenced in and connected to back yard. A couple of suggestions 1) hot tub was very "chlorine-y" when we first arrived. Had to leave top up for a few hours to help diffuse fumes 2. There's a gas fireplace in living room -but awesome fire pit outside 3. Beds were AMAZINGLY COMFORTABLE but I'm glad I brought a couple of extra blankets as the bedspread wasn't enough for me. Also great that I had them for snuggling on couch sand wrapped up by fire as the high was in mid-40's. We highly recommend this company - check in was super easy & so was check out! Absolutely no issues which is just what you want when on vacation. We are already planning our next visit for this fall. read more

We (all 10 in my group) LOVED the Buckeye Trail lodge! The company was very easy to work and communicate with- both before and during our stay. They answered any questions that we had and sent emails explaining check in etc. before check in time. During the first Day of our stay they emailed To make sure that everything was going okay and asking if we had any questions. The cabin was beautiful and clean. It had a great covered outdoor space, parking space, fire pit, hot tub and pool Table. There was more than enough Space for the 10 of us. Yes there is cable. No there is no internet but that is a GOOD THING! The cabin was very private and nestled in the woods. My only Complaints about the cabin is that you can't change the speed of the fans (in the HEAT of the summer I wish it was adjustable- luckily still AC of Course! ) and the cabin floors and beds were SUPER squeaky and loud. So it was hard to keep quiet in the mornings- every move you make! Squeeeeeaaaaakkkkk! I would come back and stay at this cabin with a large Group! It was a very Pleasant getaway! read more

We just finished our stay. I must say it was LOVELY. The cabin was beautiful and secluded. They give you just about everything thing you need from linens to skewers to roast marshmallows. The location was great close to many attractions like airplane rock, conkles hollow, happy trails, ect. The place was clean and nicely decorated. They even had the hot tub warm and waiting for us. Pros The screened in hot tub. I thought this was great you had direct access from either bed room to the hot tub so no bugs or if the weather was rough you could still enjoy the tub. The kitchen was stocked with just about everything you need besides the food. Cleaning supplies, pots/pans, serving dishes even grilling utensils. The location and beautiful views and cabin. I walked in and was taken back by how beautiful everything was. The floor to ceiling windows was beyond beautiful. Everywhere you looked there was windows. It was beautiful to watch the storms rolling over the hills. Definitely a high point for me I love storm watching Cons The internet /phone service was fickle at best so if you work from home be aware of that. I mean I didn't expect much it's hocking hills. It's the same everywhere. I will say the pillows are horrible. I woke up everyday with bad back pain. That would be my only downside for the whole trip. I must say it did give me a reason to get a in house couples massage with my husband. I will 100% be back. I was beyond happy with my stay. For a great stay bring outdoor games for rainy days, your own pillows, house slippers the floor is cold to walk around barefoot. read more

We had an amazing weekend in January at Timber View. The house was very clean and well taken care of. We had a group of 10 and had plenty of space. The service was excellent. We had some last minute changes and requests and they were very accommodating. The land around the cabin is beautiful and so quiet. We used the hot tub and fireplace inside. There were plenty of utensils and pots/pans. I would recommend bringing additional paper towels and TP for larger groups. I've already booked cabins for August. Can't wait to come back. read more

We loved this place! It was perfect for the 2 of us and our 2 furry girls!! That being said, it would also be more than enough space for a couple and a child or two, or even 2 couples. Quirky-cool, warm and cozy is how I'd describe this cabin. So many neat features. The video and music libraries were amazing and the artwork incredibly fun. The furniture indoors is beyond comfortable. And there is plenty of outdoor space to read or just hang out, including a firepit and hot tub. We've told many of our friends about this place and can't wait to return!! read more

The cabin is beautiful. But we will not return because of the awful, janky mattresses and pillows. Our mattress was terrible--either cheap or old or both, with no support at all. You could feel the coils in the mattress. It was light enough to push around without trying, which meant that our mattress kept sliding around on the boxspring. The headboard wasn't properly attached and hit the wall each time we got in or out of bed. There were two emaciated pillows to sleep on; there were two more emaciated pillows in a spare cupboard but they had no pillowcases. We were six of us--three couples--and each of felt that the beds were awful. My friends said that the beds were doubles, not actually queens. No matter how lovely a cabin is, it's a pretty rotten experience if you can't sleep well. I understand that mattresses can be hideously expensive. I recommend that the management company look into Tuft & Needle, which produces and sells excellent mattresses without the usual markup. Unless we know for a fact that the mattresses are replaced, my friends and I will not return. Now, other than that issue, we were happy with the cabin. Outside, as you drive up, it looks homey--nothing too fancy, but it's inviting nonetheless. The interior is almost all wood: floors, ceilings and walls. The kitchen is big and equipped well enough. (Avid cooks might want to bring their own cookware; the kitchen had non-stick pots and pans that were badly scratched up. But it's a rental cabin with lots of guests, so that's to be expected.) The hot tub on the back porch works nicely, as did the tub with jets in the master bedroom. It was a bit odd that the "living room" was in the lower level--so no windows, only french doors leading out to a little back porch with a hot tub. The deck on the main level was overhead, so we didn't have much of a view from the hot tub. But that's okay. One point of note: this cabin is not terribly remote. It's about ten minutes away from a large grocery store, and if you want to go hiking in the woods, you have to get in a car and drive to a trail. There are other homes surrounding the cabin, and in the winter, with the leaves fallen, there's not much privacy. But I imagine that in the warmer months, the foliage creates a sense of seclusion. The cabin is *mostly* spacious enough for 6 adults: I'll note that the couches in the lower level (which is the "living room") can only seat 5, which is really, really stupid. So there you go. A nice cabin, with a dealbreaker of a flaw: deeply, tragically uncomfortable beds. read more

Horrible maintenance team. We booked Buckeye Trail Lodge. We were not able to open the door lock (it was jammed) and waited for more than 3 Hours. Called, left VM the after hour maintenance team and no one ever showed up. Only replied through email, I could never expect that. Next day found that hot tub was totally unclean and upstairs bathroom started to leak water. After several calls someone at last showed up. All the toilets were stained badly. If you face any problem, there would be no one to help. So beware of their maintenance team. I would not recommend. read more

GAMEBIRD CABIN: This 2-bedroom cabin is perched upon one of hundreds of knobs like it in Hocking Hills. The cabin is a great getaway for family or, in my case, to participate in a team-building retreat. Amenities include several mid-level hiking trails leading away from the cabin, nice gazebo style gas grille that has night-lighting if you choose, a nice outdoor firepit and plenty of frisbee and football toss space outdoors. Inside, all the necessary touches such as modern kitchen equipment, DISH TV, screened in patio with 2-person hot tub and good bathroom fixtures and size. This was a great property. Noise levels from the entrance road was nearly inaudible. The overhead sky is very visible through a circle of pines. The outdoor firepit is a good size and metal rim capture all the wood you need to have a good old-fashioned roaring fire. The favorites of Hocking Hills are all nearby. Old Man's Cave, Rock House, Conkle's Hollow are within 10-minutes drives. There are two general stores for foods & beverages are inside 10-minutes, too. Very reliable and fun entertainment and services make a weekend pleasant and safe. Rates are terrific. Two-nights for under $500 cover two couples or small family. Try this cabin or likely any others on the list with Buffalo Lodging. They're a buttoned-up group and help out. read more

We stayed at the Chief Logan Lodge and it's a really nice place. Just a couple of fixes and it would be perfect! The King mattress in the lower level really needs to be replaced. Like sleeping in a deep hole. The pool cues had no tips on them so don't plan on playing pool. The knives in the kitchen were extremely dull so be careful. A dull knife is a very dangerous knife. read more

We had a very bad experience with the cabin rental from buffalo lodging. We stayed at the Truffle shuffle and the cleanliness was a huge issue! When we arrived the floors were visibly dirty and the sheets on the beds had crumbs in them. Luckily we found clean sheets and were able to change the bed. The breaking point was, we had mice in the kitchen. We called the company to ask for traps and they said they would send someone out - they never did! I would not recommend this company. read more

We stayed at Wolf Den recently and enjoyed every moment! It had more than enough space (inside and out) for our 8 adults and 3 kids under 10. The property was clean, private and well-maintained. We even got a surprise when upon arriving we found the indoor pool had been completed - a perfect space for the kiddos! This is our second time staying at a Buffalo Lodging cabin, the staff are polite and helpful- we'll definitely be back for a 3rd visit! read more

We really enjoyed our stay in Moonlight Ridge cabin. Was secluded just as we were wanting and we were allowed to bring our dog with us. Cabin had plenty of towels and starting supplies. The hot tub was nice. There was a trail near the cabin to walk and we were in convenient distances to Old Man's Cave, Rock House, and other attractions if we so desired to go. Very relaxing time. SCAM!!!!! I completely understand charging a fee for canceling a reservation but.... I have a huge medical emergency and don't foresee being able to go on this trip. I cancelled 55 days prior to check in and they kept my $700+ deposit!!!! Every bit of it! I assumed they were like most and kept a portion but .... 100%???? I have been staying in cabins at Hocking Hills since 2003. I will never deal with this horrible company again. It's not about customer satisfaction or doing the best for both ( customers and their business) (I'm a business owner myself and do my best to make the customer happy while still being fair to both parties) this is a real shame and word of mouth advertising will cause a business to soar or sink!!!! Freedom Lodge 4 bd 3 bath New construction and fit everyone fine. Beds were so noisy you moved a finger and they squeaked. No sound went unheard in this cabin. No dressers in any room. No chairs in any room. They are big enough but you can't unpack and luggage must sit on floor. No closets in the rooms. So uncomfortable. Top bedroom has a outside deck but no were to sit and enjoy. No patio screen to even leave the door open and enjoy the fresh air or sounds of nature. No extra blankets. Just not very inviting or comfortable. You hear every one walking the floor creeks. Doors are loud when open and close. No rest in this cabin. The price is not worth being uncomfortable. No place in bathrooms to sit your clothes to shower or get ready. Get some benched or something in the rooms and bathrooms to sit luggage on or to sit down No games to play. Hot tub pieces float around. Bbq half works. Not worth the price. We stayed for four days and I was ready for sleep. Loved Hocking Hills but not this over priced uncomfortable cabin. read more

Me and some friends stayed in the timber view lodge and it is beautiful inside and out. That's about it -this cabin sits on a portion of property with 3 other cabins and has next to no privacy as you can see all three in quite detail. In the summer people in the other cabins can watch you swim and people passing on the road can watch you in the hot tub. -the hot tub is nice but most of the jets dont work so your just sitting in hot water. -the sliding door next to the pool is broken so you have to enter through the laundry room which is on the side so you have to pass between the pool fence and pump equipment to get to it. It's also mostly dirt through their so gets very muddy when wet. And is on the side of a hill so it's a lawsuit waiting to happen. -the water pressure sucks -beds and pillows are not comfortable -most dishes in kitchen were dirty so we had to wash them. (Which for a rental I'm not surprised) most of the dishes also looked like they were hand me downs. (Also not surprising) -the flew for the fireplace was broken so the living room was cold all the time. -the cable is basic direct tv so has pretty much nothing available and the Internet is frontier and sucks so couldn't use any of the apps on the smart tv. -their is no insulation between walls so you can hear every conversation. Again I will say the cabin is beautiful and so is the property but for the amount we all payed for the few nights we were here is not worth it. read more

TWIN CREEKS LODGE I stayed a weekend with 12 friends in this beautiful cabin from of the Buffalo Lodging Company. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay and we were pleased with the property. Pros: The overall construction of the cabin is beautiful! The layout and the design of the cabin is memorable and inviting. Plenty of windows throughout the cabin to enjoy the breathtaking scenery. The property is fairly secluded and the private drive has ample parking for multiple cars. (You WILL need 4 wheel drive in the winter) All of the appliances look nice and worked well. The hot tub was wonderful and put to good use throughout the weekend (though the stairs and surrounding porch iced over immediately and became a hazard after 1 use) The pool table and TVs with DVD players in the living rooms upstairs and down are a nice touch. Our king bed on the upper level was comfortable and very firm. The availability of a washer / dryer on site was welcome as well. The spacious downstairs allowed for us to bring a small folding table for Euchre games! This cabin is easy to find and not far (10 min) from Kroger. Cons: The stairs are a hazard. They are built with logs but they are barely functional. Uneven, railing on 1 side only, narrow steps, too-close together, and STEEP. Both sets of stairs were so steep we had to walk up and down them sideways like a 80 year old, frail woman. Some of the couches, while still looking nice, were horribly uncomfortable even to sit on. The well water smells horrible - if you are not used to it, prepare yourself for rotten-egg smell anytime you simply need to wash your hands. The twin beds on the upper level were not comfortable for any of my adult friends who tried to use them. The headboards are not even attached on some and they rock so much you feel like you are going to fall out of them. I would only suggest them for a small child. The walls / insulation are fairly thin, so expect to be able to hear everything. The entrance keypad / lock device on the door was not functional. There is no kindling for the fireplace, purchasing wood will only get you so far. Be sure you bring a useful fire starter or be prepared to look for kindling on the property somewhere (in January there was not enough) if you intend to use the fireplace. Overall we were happy with the cabin and feel it was worth the price that we split among 12 people. The cabin is probably better suited to only 10 adults (so everyone can sit together to eat / everyone gets a bedroom). But I would recommend this property to other groups looking for a Hocking Hills getaway. read more

Buffalo Lodging Company has always been excellent. I think we've stayed four times, choosing three different properties. All have been great - but last weekend was the best ever. Two friends and their kids shared Ridgeback Cabin with us. This cabin was beautiful - big kitchen with marble counter tops, big hot tub, two full baths, two king beds and one queen... gorgeous outdoor space with a hammock and fire pit. But when you have a business as large as Buffalo Lodging Co, sometimes things happen - and somehow housekeeping hadn't gotten to our property before our arrival. So we got there to dirty towels in the bathtub and dirty sheets on the beds.... but Buffalo Lodging made it right - and fast. Great customer service will keep us coming back every time. 6 REASONS CABIN - I spent this past weekend February 27-March 1, in Buffalo Lodging Company's 6 Reasons Cabin (Newly constructed in Summer of 2014). Aside from having far too many windows with no curtains for my liking the cabin itself was very cute. However... they either need to have the septic tank emptied or properly vent the plumbing because the entire cabin smelled of sewage the entire weekend! Not only did the cabin smell this way but my clothing upon leaving also smelled of sewage. I did not want to shower while I was there because the majority of the smell seemed to be coming from the shower drain. The dishes were not cleaned, I had to wash the frying pan, tongs and spatula prior to using them. That may have explained why I also found several cockroaches (three adults and one baby) in the cabin. The bed had a large dip in the middle and the pillows were paper thin, had it not been for the sewer smell coming from the bathroom we would have slept on the sofa bed. I was incredibly displeased with my visit to this cabin especially since it was a 10 year anniversary getaway. I will not be returning or recommending this company to anyone. I sent the company an email with the same info as above and got an immediate response "I'm extremely sorry that you had these issues at 6 Reasons. I have refunded $100 of your stay for compensation and also forwarded your feedback to the owner of the cabin, who handles his own cleaning and maintenance. I will say, though, that the bugs that you found are likely Pennsylvania Wood Roaches and not the typical American Cockroach. Stayed at one of their cabins, cabin fever, for a weekend and was pretty pleased with my stay! They provide you with just about everything you need as far as linens, silverware, pots and pans, cups and mugs. The cabin was very spacious and it has free WiFi although it was pretty spotty (you should expect this for the location though). There is a hot tub in the back which fit quite a few people and was perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring. There are bugs that get into the cabin (again, to be expected) but what I wasn't expecting is to read in their info book that they were wood cockroaches! There's also wood bees but they didn't bother us. They just wanted to eat the wood and be on their way. Although I would not say that they negatively impacted my experience, since it would make sense for them to be attracted to a large wooden structure, i just had never seen them before so was shocked to read that's what they were. One small but nice touch is that they put hooks in two trees in the front for a hammock. I feel like they thought a lot about what they should include in their cabins. There were only a few small annoyances that I wanted to mention. First, the mattresses and the pillows are pretty uncomfortable. I understand, that is subjective so I will say they were more on the firm side. Do what you will with that. Another thing I wasn't thrilled about is that there was no strainer for the hot tub. You're in the outdoors, there will be bugs.... scoop them out by hand I guess? Also, they have some pretty odd rules I had never come across such as being charged an extra $25 for setting the thermostat above 73 but it was at 75 when we arrived.... also, for clean up, you have to strip all of the linens and place them in the washroom for cleaning. Basic cleaning, I understand. But isn't there a cleaning charge for a reason? Lastly, the driveway is very steep and it's gravel making it difficult for sedans to trek up. As I said, the few issues I had would not deter me from recommending them to a friend or re-booking a future stay. We recently rented the bear fork lodge cabin for a stay from Sept 9th thru Sept 11th. The instructions for entering the cabin were easy enough even without being email the lockbox code prior to arrival. By contacting janette she responded almost immediately with the code. The property itself was beautiful, definitely big enough for three families to be comfortable. I will say that whoever is maintaining and cleaning the properties needs a lesson on cleaning and maintaining property. The front door only had the deadbolt working and wouldn't stay closed unless the deadbolt was on. The hot tub was unusable, upon arrival it wasn't filled enough and wasn't wiped out at all. When I called janette she did send out someone to fill up the hot tub and check the chemical levels. They said that if you wipe out the deposits they come back immediately but the toilets and shower certainly didn't have the same ring as the dishwasher and hot tub. The mineral deposits on the hot tub and inside the dishwasher were ridiculous, especially since all we had to do was wipe it with our finger for them to come off. None of the dishes they provided could be used without hand washing every single one of them first. No surprise by the state of the dishwasher. We found two different pairs of socks in the couches that did not belong to us. The bottom bedroom door to the left was hanging on the frame by one screw, we took it upon ourselves to go to the flea market and get some proper hardware to hang the door for fear of being charged damages. The screws they used to hang the door were an inch long, which for a regular door is probably fine but this is a heavy gorgeous wood door. We used screws two times as long to rehang it to handle the weight. The pool table downstairs was very nice but the sticks were very run down, only two of them had tips and none of them had felt. They should also supply a short stick because the room isnt large enough to shoot from the sides. The bottom bathroom toilet seat was almost completely off the toilet seat on arrival and totally off the toilet seat by the time we left. We wanted to turn on the heat the last night there and when we did it smelled very smokey so we just turned it back off. Some extra blankets would have been nice for early fall nights in September where heat could be borderline. The stay was quiet and we enjoyed our time there as a family. When I did contact the management they came quickly and responded but with the amount of things wrong I would have called them the entire vacation if I had called them for everything. There are a lot of companies with cabins of similar size and price. Next year we will be trying out one of those companies I think. It's a beautiful cabin on beautiful property with poor maintenance. If something doesn't change soon this beautiful property won't be beautiful for long. read more

Several problems related to our stay that should be unacceptable considering the amount of cabins owned by this company. Off season stay, arrived to find all of the towels in the house were in the dryer. I spent 30 minutes folding and stocking the bathrooms and kitchen. I know for a fact this cabin was vacant several days prior to our stay so there was no reason why an obscene amount of towels were left in the dryer. Found someone's dirty sock on the middle of one of the bedrooms. Pretty gross discovery and another problem highlighting neglect by housekeeping staff. While playing foosball, I discovered a disgusting amount of crumbs, discarded candy and a large number of random items hiding under the couch when I retrieved the foosball. The couch moved fairly easily across the floor and should be something done by housekeeping...again. If you are allergic to dogs, DO NOT STAY HERE! I pulled back the comforter in the master bedroom and revealed dog hair all over the sheets and blankets. I spent another 90 minutes running those through the wash and putting them back on the bed. At this point, it has become obvious that management needs to evaluate the housekeeping company they employ because I've read several similar complaints from previous guests. Simple cooking utensils not available (plastic spatulas or spoons). Very thankful I brought my own cookware. This is part of an inventory the housekeeping or management should be doing. These cabins are NOT secluded and there was no tree cover in the winter, we could see cabins in every direction. There is no privacy. If you don't require seclusion and don't mind doing more than half of housekeeping's work upon arrival while paying a premium rate to stay, this is the place for you. read more

We have booked several times with this company and the service is always top notch. Their cabins are as described. They are always clean, cozy and well appointed. We just recently stayed at the Luxe Haus and this property was by far our favorite. Very modern and had plenty of space. The outdoor space was amazing, too. We can't wait to book again. Would highly recommend Buffalo Lodging Company! The front office has been exceptional, especially Abby. Any questions or concerns were handled quickly and professionally. Abby really went out of her way to help. We stayed at Open Sky Cabin. The night sky is beautiful and the cabin is charming and is everything and more than described. My father in law purchased gift certificates from buffalo cabins and lodges for our family and his other children so that we could use them for a long weekend as a family. they were purchased a few years ago, but nowhere on the gift certificate is there an expiration date or anything that says they are only good for a certain amount of time. We have tried to use them over the years but either the place has been booked when can go, or all of the family cannot get together at the same time. Well now we all can get together and there is the cabin available that we want but buffalo cabins and lodges will not honor the gift certificates saying that they were only good for one year after purchase. once again if this were true I would expect it to be on the gift certificate or on the website stating this and it is nowhere to be found. we would not recommend doing business with this company as they do not honor goods and services that they sell. read more

We just returned from a 3 night stay at the Whispering Oaks Cabin in Hocking Hills. We had previously stayed with the Buffalo Lodging Company at the Hills Big Pine cabin. The Whispering Oaks Cabin was very small compared to what we are used to. It was cute and quaint, but not a lot of space. Pros: Bedding was clean. Closest space. Bathrooms were spacious. Nice rec room in the basement with a pool table, dart board, Pacman video game and mini-fridge. Washer and dryer in the downstairs bathroom available for use. Kitchen was pretty well stocked with dishes and cookware. Lots of utensils. Front porch swing. Cons: Living area was small. Front door opens centimeters in front of steps, which is difficult as people are coming and going bringing in supplies or leaving. You can hear everything in this cabin. Main floor bedroom and people in the loft bedroom could have conversations without raising their voices and hear each other without a problem. The dining room table only holds 6, despite cabin holding 8. One of the chairs was missing, which made seating for 5. We enjoy eating together family style and there was not ample seating for that. The dining room table top was disgusting! It was sticky and we were cutting large trash bags we brought to make "tablecloths" because we could set anything on the table without it getting stuck. One of the table legs was loose. We typically use the table for every meal and for nightly board games or cards. This was not a table we wanted to spend a lot of time at. I found two small bugs in the pantry closet. The floors were dirty with debris from previous renters. The fire pit was disappointing. The area for the pit is tiny. There are tree stumps provided for sitting, which are not comfortable for periods of time. Additionally, the area around the fire is not flat which made it difficult for us to use the camp chairs we brought to make the area more comfortable. We love spending time by the fire, but didn't really use it this trip. The upper and lower back decks need cleaning. There was a minimum of 1 raccoon nightly on the upper back deck. The first night the trash cans were dumped. We had seen other cabins use bungee cords or something to secure the lids, but there wasn't anything like that available. The next night, we made sure we didn't have anything in that trash can. Overall, we had a great time, but I don't think I'd stay stay at Whispering Oaks again. Also, the cleaning crew was waiting in the cul-de-sac for us to leave at 11:00. We departed at 10:58 and they pulled right in behind us. read more

If you're looking for crummy surroundings, janky craftsmanship and broken promises then this is the place for you! To say that the customer service is lacking would be an understatement. Online it states that firewood is included at each cabin. To be sure, I tried calling for TWO DAYS to confirm this with no answer and no call back. We only packed a little wood, because who has room to pack a weekend's worth? We checked in within the one hour window that they give you, so by the time we got to our cabin (6 Reasons) there was only 15 minutes till their office closed. So, when we got there and saw that there was ONE piece of wood in the fire place and tried to call the office, I wasn't too surprised to see that they didn't answer or call me back! There was trash in the front yard, cigarette butts all around the fire pit, light fixtures full of bugs (inside the cabin), dead Pine Trees surrounding our cabin and another cabin on either side of us! Oh, and did I mention the locals riding their four wheelers and hunting around our cabin all weekend? To say that the cabin is located on 11 shared acres is a bit deceiving as well. There is no way of telling what property you are PAYING to stay on.....was I going to get shot for walking my dog on someone else's property? I must say though that there are nice parks and things that you can drive to from this cabin and we certainly made the best of our time in the area. Will I return to Hocking Hills? Yes. Will I use this company again? Absolutely not! read more

Unfortunately our hot tub would not function our first night. I was told my office staff that no credits can be made based on their policy. After two phone calls to the owner I still did not receive a return call, an apology, or any credit. This is bad business practice and I will not return to a place that cannot make it right. read more

We stayed at the Freedom Lodge December 27th-30th, 2015. Of the many times we stayed in Hocking Hills, this is the first time we were unsatisfied with our accommodations. We splurged due to the holidays and thought we were getting "The Finest in Premier Lodging" as the website states. We certainly paid for it. The cabin, on first impression looked nice. It was spacious and clean. However, it took no time to realize that the cabin was lacking in basic necessities or came anywhere close to being "Premier". For starters, there was no place to put your clothes. No hooks (other than the coat rack by the front door), shelves, closets, or dressers to store your clothes. There were 8 of us in the cabin and our stuff spent the vacation on the floor. There were no hooks to hang wet bathing suits/towels after using the hot tub. The kitchen was poorly stocked. Hardly any cooking utensils, no colander, horrible knives and cookware. There was not even a brush to clean the grill with. Worst of all, were the beds/bedding. The most uncomfortable mattresses, cheap, minimal bedding and terrible pillows. We stayed up super late each night just to avoid having to go to bed. The cabin has the potential to be really nice, as long as you can overlook the shotty workmanship of the builder. They need to spend some money making the place funtional and comfortable. Maybe the owners should spend a few nights there and see for themselves. We certainly did not get what we paid for. We liked the spaciousness of the cabin. The large hot tub and pool table were a plus. The deck would have been nice to use if the weather allowed. Unfortunately, there is a new cabin being built right next door, and the deck will no longer be private. Lastly, upon packing up our belongings to head home, we found a couple of our bread bags had holes eaten through them. I am sure the mice enjoy the cabin : ) We have never written a bad review before, but felt people should know what they are paying for. The bottom line is that we will return to Hocking Hills, just not to any of Buffalo Lodging Company properties. read more

during march 2017 we spent two weekend nights in the bison lodge. it's a lovely, spacious property with ample room for three families and plenty of bathrooms. it was clean and well-maintained so we were really excited to arrive and settle in. it's a quiet setting within a few minutes of fun hikes, and has a large fridge to accommodate food for many. be aware that there are a few thing that make it a little tough to relax: - there is NO interior insulation between walls or floors, and almost no rugs or wall hangings so it's very loud and impossible to sleep in. as soon as one person is up, everyone's up. and forget privacy...you can hear every little snore throughout the house even with doors closed. - the website says that the upper level has a king bed, a queen bed, and four twins, but there are actually TWO queens and no king on that level. the other two levels have king beds, but we specifically booked this property because we expected three king beds. - the kitchen is only adequately stocked, so don't plan on getting fancy with your menus. be sure to bring napkins, saran wrap, baggies, and any other supplies you're going to need. - the hot tub is lovely to have but very confusing to operate and the instructions are weak. - the first floor shower has AWFUL pressure and the temperature handle is reversed - we called the property management people on Saturday over concerns about the shower and never got a call back - there is no seating on the enormous front porch - there's no kindling to get the fire started, though they do provide some wood the property is lovely but for what we paid i expected a little more attention to the creature comforts. read more

My husband and I and our two dogs stayed with Buffalo Lodging a couple years ago and were very pleased with our stay at Sunset Ridge. So we were very excited to be lodging with them again, however our expectations were not met at the Open Sky Cabin. When we arrived, at 3pm, the cleaning woman told us that the cabin wouldn't be ready for another hour (the office staff said nothing to the fact that it wouldn't be ready) so we had to wait outside in the heat with our 9-month old and our 2 dogs. Inside the cabin, the bedrooms smelled very weird, like horrible aftershave, and the air conditioning kept changing temperatures, we set it at 75 and it would go up to 80 or down to 70 randomly. There were no trails or 32 acres as promised in the description. There was also a personal home sharing the same driveway and was literally right out the front door; their dog came over and pooped right off the back deck and the owner didn't come pick it up. The Wi-Fi was only on for one or two days. The shower head in the downstairs bathroom was a joke, I have medium length hair and it took forever to get it wet and rinse it. The cooking utensils and pans were absolutely horrible to use, the nonstick coating was gone and the spatulas were melted on the ends. We loved the birds that visited the bird feeders, but we would not rent this cabin again. read more

This place is awful. Do not go here. Me and some friends booked a cabin here after graduation and we were scammed out of thousands of dollars. We were accused of damage we didn't cause and were threatened to leave after the first night of our 4 night trip. We were planning on spending 4 days here and were forced to leave after 1. The workers are rude. And when forcing us to leave they took our food and drinks for themselves. 0/10 do not recommend. Awful place. read more

We booked a couple day get away with our 3 dogs. The gamebird cabin was perfect for people with pets! The screened in porch was definitely a must.The cabin sits far enough away from other cabins so the dogs could run around and explore. The cabin was clean and we had everything we needed right there. We could not access the internet service and could not use our phones but that was ok, because we got to disconnect from everything. The pond was wonderful, however the row boat was filled with water and the oar holder was broken so we couldn't row around the pond. This cabin is an older cabin, however we enjoyed getting away from it all and being able to bring our dogs. I would definitely stay here again! read more

Company is a HUGE scam! Lower than 1 star but you can't rate that. Added charges for things that were broken when we arrived. Cabin was outfitted with many worn out pieces of furniture and old items. The grill was covered in grease. They staged photos after we left to make it appear damage was caused by us. Replaced their worn out items with new and charged us. Without warning and without an invoice, simply put charges through to credit card. Then said to contact their attorney to dispute! STEER CLEAR!!!! They should be ashamed... read more

Our group of 7 stayed at La Vigne Ridge June 19 to 20, 2015. We were charged extra for every person over 4 but there were not enough plates and eating utensils for 7 people or a table large enough to seat 7 people. Another problem was a non-functioning coffee pot. When I complained about this per email on our return home, I was told that I should have called and someone would have brought us a replacement. Only problem with this is that we called the company on Friday evening about a problem, had to leave a message, and never received a response -- so why would I think that they would be concerned about not enough dishes or a non-working coffee pot. I would not recommend renting from this company. Customer service is poor. read more
