If I could give ZERO stars, I would…read more Before the appointment, I explained to my son that we would not be doing X-rays that day because we needed to leave quickly afterward, and he was already feeling anxious about them. I reassured him that would take care of the X-rays at the next appointment so he wouldn't need to worry about them. I also communicated this clearly to the hygenist. Despite that, she responded that X-rays were required that day and then told my son, "Sorry your mom told you that we weren't going to do X-rays today, but we actually are." This caused him to panic, and their attempts to calm him only escalated the situation. Their approach felt unnecessarily forceful and lacked sensitivity. After the cleaning, we waited approximately an hour for the doctor to come speak with us. Ultimately, we had to inform the staff that we could not wait any longer and left. We never recieved a follow-up call or any acknowledgement or apology for the excessive wait time. As a result of this experience, I cancelled all further appointments and transferred my child to a different dental provider. Three months later, I received a text message thanking me for booking a cleaning - an appointment I never scheduled. When I called to inquire, I was told that they automatically rebook all patients. I asked what would happens if I hadn't shown up, and I was informed that I would have been billed a no-show fee for an appointment that I did not authorize. Overall, this experience was extremely disappointing. I found the practice to be unprofessional, poorly managed, and lacking in basic communication and respect for its patients.

Upon arrival my son was very anxious about being at the dentist, he began getting fussy. Once back in the clinic, the assistant informed me that x rays were requested at the appointment that day. I informed her that she was welcome to try, however I suggested my son would likely not be compliant. I'm not sure if that was taken as me telling her "no" to the radiographs but a no is clearly what was communicated to the dds. Dr. Rao came over and shamed me for 'not even being willing to try' I informed her what was said and at that point folded my cards and told her go ahead and do the X-rays. I watched as one of the assistants held my son down in a bear hug with her legs wrapped around him while the other assistant jammed bitewing tabs into his mouth. I am a licensed dental assistant who currently practices and I fully understand the importance of radiographic imaging and how they are essential for diagnostic purposes. However, given there were no clinical signs that pointed to concern there was no reason for the staff to use the measures of restraining my child and creating a traumatic first radiograph experience for bitewings that could have been taken at the next visit, once my son gained maturity. The only reason I even agreed to these x rays was the shame dr. Rao placed on me for "not agreeing" to x rays that I gave the go ahead on. Through out my appointment Dr. Rao gave me zero grace, my first exchange of words with Dr. Rao was her informing me that the reason my son is uncooperative is the TIME OF DAY which I scheduled my sons appointment. Early intervention of dental care is a top priority for me regarding my child so when there was a time of day that worked with my work schedule I jumped on it. If the time of day for any given age group (or individual) is not preferred, the front desk should be made aware of this and communicated prior to an appointment at bare minimum. I was not ever informed that my child was not suitable for an appointment at 2:30. It's never been an issue with ent, pediatric care, physical therapy or speech. I was not going to write this review until receiving the letter in my mailbox that I have attached to this review. To dismiss me from your practice due to your staffs lack of communication and me defending my words by correcting your misinformation is shocking to me. Even before this letter was received, I had zero intentions of returning to your practice. I will make sure that the people in my life never send their children to any of your practices. Do better.

Kids get to choose stickers and a toy after the appointment too, which is a big plus for my kiddo. He did major work on my son at Childrens hospital when he was a toddler. Both my children love going to him. He really cares about the best interest of his children and only prescribes work when it is absolutely necessary . He does not use needles for numbing. His staff is also amazing, kind and friendly. I wouldn't take my kids anywhere else. I wish I could go here !! I am so proud that our children have had a positive experience with dentistry. The clinic has two dentists, four hygienists, and a couple front desk staff. The office is located in an office park building in Maple Grove. The waiting room is so welcoming. It's tastefully decorated for kids. Cartoons on the TV, free Pac-Man arcade game, lots of books, and magazine for the adults. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. The exam space is great, too. It's an open-air concept with benches and art for privacy rather than walls or exam rooms. My favorite part of our visit was the staff. As someone who despises trips to the dentist myself, I have put off my son's first visit for years. At 4.5, I worried that he would be scared and non-compliant. But our hygienist made him feel very comfortable. I appreciated that she showed him the chair and let him try each of the tools before using them. The cleaning was very gentle. She took breaks as often as he asked. After he picked out a prize and got a sticker for being cavity-free, we saw the dentist (Dr. Borodkin). She reviewed his chart and took the time to review his X-rays in detail. I was worried that she would scold me for waiting so long to bring him in. Not at all! She was informative and supportive, not judgmental. We left with a 'swag' bag - toothbrush, paste, a water bottle, a really nifty flosser, and a save the date for our next appointment. As an adult with dentist anxiety, I had MUCH delayed taking my kids and both had cavities... what I had dreaded (and expected). However, the way the staff and Dr. Venetia helped make them feel comfortable and calm (and informed about what's happening every step of the way) was nothing short of miraculous. No tears. No pain. No fear... for the kids or for me! :) I'm SO impressed with their approach, kindness and knowledge about kids and their teeth. Thank GOODNESS I found this clinic.

When I tell them they are going to the dentist they get so excited. Dr. Sakhi is gentle with the kids and speaks to the parents after in a gentle manor. She lets me know what to look for that could be problems, and also let's me know when I shouldn't worry. I've been in love from the beginning, I was able to go in on my son's first appointment. Recently changed to a different dentist because I did not care for the way the dentist spoke to me…read more Quite curt and borderline rude. Also she filled 2 cavities for my kid and at her follow-up appt said that the cavities are still growing despite us brushing and flossing everyday. I don't feel the cavities were filled correctly. She is offered no treatment other than silver diamine which is expensive, isn't covered by insurance and although she never mentioned this, after my own research it apparently needs to be redone every 6 months or so. She could've refilled the cavities at her expense or taken the time to explain the option a bit more instead of handing me a handout on my way out the door. I've had probably 15 cavities in my lifetime and never had a reoccurring cavity the very next appointment. So based on my personal experience with previous dentists over the course of my lifetime, and my personal experience at this office over several visits, I don't feel this one is up to par with communication, customer relations or care. No reason to stick around. I'm sure they will try to explain away this as they have the previous reviews instead of accepting responsibility for anything, or saying that's my perception of the events so let's have it.
