I was referred to Dr. Matthew Cavagnaro for rotator cuff review of MRI. He/staff was friendly while explaining process of visit. Surgery was suggested & why. dr Cavagnaro explained what that would look like & gave me time to think on my choices. My referral Ortho had suggested surgery was my outcome due to severe complete tear. I have seen him a couple times & agreed to surgery, which is in 2 days of this review. I would recommend him because I feel confident he will do a successful surgery & his surgery scheduler Christy has been above Amazing with my calls an answering my questions. I (a woman in my 40's) was having perimenopausal symptoms: longer & heavier periods with really bad cramps, bouts of nausea and even vomiting. Brain fog & dizziness. My periods were getting closer together, I was fatigued, having hot flashes, and getting horrible sleep. I had mood swings, too. I saw a Doctor who I will call 'Doctor C.' I'm not going to list her full name, because I think that'd be mean, despite the way she treated me. When I told 'Dr. C' that I was in for perimenopause issues, she laughed dismissively and said: 'You're too young for menopause, let's do some bloodwork,' even though I had *just* had bloodwork done for these issues three weeks prior AND had brought those results with me AND had showed them to her. Note that I said **PERI** menopause, not MENOPAUSE. Big red flag that she didn't seem to know that there is a difference. She will experience the above, eventually. I hope she'll recall how ignorant she was. I hope she realizes: 'I should have listened, she was right, this is a horrible way to feel!' Maybe someone will dismiss her, too, with a: 'You are too young for that!' and a laugh. The receptionist at Buffalo Medical Group was great, though. As was the nice energetic lady who takes your vitals. I really liked both of them. The 'wait time' was good, too, from walking in and being taken back to wait to be seen. Aside from 'Doctor C', everything & everyone was great. But because of 'Doctor C', I'd never go back there. read more

Compared to many other clinics or Doctor's offices, I like coming here. My primary is at 325 Essjay & my Gyn is at 295 Essjay & so is the Radiology. (Well, I wasn't finished writing my review , when I got called in already.) My appt was for 11am , it's 11:34am and I e already cleaned off my whole van & am ready to head home. They are quick but thorough & very nice here. They all have smiles on their faces & talk very pleasantly. I'm treated very well when I come to the Buffalo Medical Group. This place has patient care down to an art. Lots of online pre-check-in options. I even paid my co-pay online ahead of the visit, I don't mind, less time hacking around inside. Receptionists are cheerful, super hygienic, mindful of masks, hand sanitizer, and above all customer service. You're clearly directed to your next stop within the complex. I've had a CT scan and X-rays here and both times had very compassionate professionals at the helm. I had a need to visit Dr. Valerie Burkhard, a seasoned, kind doctor. Her staff was professional, efficient, and warm. They eased what can be an anxiety-provoking visit. After the visit, you can visit the website to see results and communicate with staff if you need to. Or you can call. The facility itself looks very nice on the outside. The inside needs some spiffing up, for example, the acoustic ceiling tiles are in need of attention, that sort of thing. The artwork on display is very nice! Large macro photographs of flora. Also, the amount of natural light in waiting areas is impressive. Parking is easy and plentiful. read more

I am a cancer survivor and was treated by oncologist Dr. Dougherty, whom I found to be both competent and compassionate. I've been seeing him twice a year since my surgery and chemo in 2018. Unfortunately, he's out right now, and at my last appointment, they sent me to Dr. Gayatri Vaidyanathan. I found her to be rude and condescending, not the kind of doctor you want to see anytime, but especially when it comes to post-cancer treatment! I asked for a different physician for my next appointment and hope it's a better experience. I've also been disappointed in that BMG loves to have you see a PA, who is usually very young, instead of your regular doctor. I love my primary doctor and feel insulted every time they make me see the PA instead. I know doctors are busy, but this is a bait and switch. read more

I don't write yelp reviews, but I believe this warranted a special circumstance. Several weeks ago, I received two confirmations for a doctors appointment I really need. I leave work early and drive 35 minutes to find out they told me THE WRONG DATE AND TIME. Flash forward to three weeks later, I drive out to the office again, leaving work early. I arrive to find out they told me the incorrect office and I'd have to reschedule. After voicing my displeasure of leaving work twice to only be told incorrect information, they had me sit in the waiting room for 45 minutes while they figured it out, to no avail. This is the most grossly mismanaged company I've ever experienced, and can't believe they are the largest group in Buffalo. Do yourself a favor and go to UB MD, they're wonderful there. read more

My time is valuable. I'm with my boyfriend waiting to see Dr. Michael Hanzly, a urologist. His appointment was at 3:30 p.m. It is now 4:45 p.m. A nurse came out and called his name at 3:45, then quickly ducked back behind a closed & locked door. Very wierd. 4:50 he just got called in. I had a really great experience here when my knee was giving me trouble, I like that they have on site x-ray and MRI - it's convenient. They were also very good about fitting me in around the holidays. The multiple waiting rooms can be confusing but they help you out. Just verify what number room you are supposed to be at! For The Lab. This lab is easy to get to and saves me a trip to an external testing company (although they still send some of the tests out). I think the waiting area is comfy and the lab techs friendly BUT the wait can be long. I waited over 30 minutes for a simple blood draw today. read more

I had to pay for what was supposed to be a yearly mammogram twice. Apparently the dr put a diagnostic code instead of the yearly checkup code. I could not understand why since there was nothing to diagnose. The dr wanted to take 2 more pics to be sure. I was not asked if this was ok with me but was just told the dr needed to have 2 more taken. When I asked why that code was used I got no real explanation. Just that because the dr decided to take the extra pics it was now a diagnostic test. ???? So this year I went to Windsong. The dr there did not need more pics and said I was clear. It was covered by insurance. The people at Windsong told me that I should have been told BEFORE they did extra pics that I may have to pay. I also never got a chance to talk in person with the dr. At Windsong you always see the actual dr that reads your pics. read more

My parents had to move back home from Florida due to their health. Buffalo Medical Group was recommended to us and I have been thrilled with medical care my parents have been receiving. The primary and specialists we have seen are caring and very thorough. For example, when I have called to state that my father should be seen for an ailment that is painful, they squeeze him in the same day or next morning. The communication between the doctors based on the interactive, shared system is fantastic. It is great to have all the medications taken in the system already when a specialist is seen. I see several doctors at BMG routinely. Normally, I feel their services are adequate, but their policies during the COVID-19 pandemic are a mess. They will force patients to come into the office to be seen every 6 months to continue refilling medications for chronic conditions. I am not being offered a telehealth option for routine ENT follow up. This means that in order to have medications for a chronic condition I have been on for years refilled, I am being forced to go into the office and have my sinuses investigated without a mask. This is an unnecessary risk for both the patient and the doctor. read more

Excellent Drs and staff love the remolding they did feels a lot more welcoming and love the water coolers in each of the waiting areas before you see the DR. The water is nice and cold the Staff are kind and they are more than willing to work with you when making appointments and The Drs take the time to listen to your medical problems and take a team approach including you to come up with the best treatment route and they are also great with when you get a diagnosis that you weren't expecting they will talk with you as long as they possibly can. Dr. Suzette Lajeunesse: Terrible patient care. I went here for an Ob-Gyn appt and I received the absolute worst patient care I ever have. Not recommended, especially for situations that can be stressful - like an Ob-Gyn appt. I had a 55 min wait to see Dr S. LaJeunesse, with no apology or explanation offered as to the delay. During a 15-20 min face time appt she gave me no real information and offered no advice, and seemed like an automaton checking off a bunch of boxes and ordering 3 pages of tests to run. The one medical concern I had was addressed with "oh, that's okay" before rushing on to something else. I had to Google information to feel less stressed about the symptom after I got home. Oh, and I had to double check the diagnosis with the medical secretary because the Dr didn't take the time to confirm it. The receptionist also handed me consent forms to sign for tests the Dr didn't even mention I needed. Her explanation was "oh there's so much to discuss, she must've forgotten". Erm, no if you order a special test for me, please take the time to explain why I need it, or I'm going to freak out even more. It was a waste of time and I have no trust in her. Will never go back. Do NOT recommend. P.S. Not sure if this poor experience is because of groups taking over medical practice and making Drs treat patients like they're just cogs in a wheel or if this Dr truly lacks in patient care skills. I tried to make an appt with their Urology office due to a concern / referral from my PCP. When I called I was treated extremely RUDE and IGNORANT by the woman taking my call. I called a second time after getting what she requested and was treated even WORSE by the second person. I was cut off with every statement or question I attempted to ask. Was going to set up appointment with the ENT I saw in 2015. Was told I would be considered a new patient and would have to pay the $200 fee (once again) to be seen by their doctor. This is not my co-pay or does not have anything to do with my insurance. This is just for the 'privilege' to be seen at this office. I refused to make the appointment and had my primary refer me to a different office. I find this so totally unethical and disgraceful. read more

I like my primary care doctor. Very much. The process for submitting medical records from former doctors, not so much. I've been in healthcare for many years, I am professional with much experience in patient care and customer service. I submitted my records from a previous provider and was told they would be scanned (submitted via a CD) and I'd be all set. Turns out, they don't scan, they print them out, give to your primary care doctor, they need to review and sign off, and tell Medical Records what to scan....seriously, extra steps that take time and waste time. None of my records were ever scanned except my PCP records, no specialty/surgery/etc. - NOTHING. I need a referral to a urologist, who, btw, WILL NOT see new patients until he reviews your records and deems you worthy of being seen by him, seriously!? Absolutely unacceptable. Now they want me to resubmit my CD and go through this all over again. No. Absolutely NOT. I am going to an outside urologist and be seen without being deemed worthy of an appointment. read more

My husband has Crohn's disease and he needs blood infusions. He had his first one done here and had insurance but they never told him it wasn't covered so now we have a $3000 medical bill. The doctors won't let him receive treatment without paying a whopping $200 EVERY time he needs an infusion. He has gotten much worse and needs to be treated but they are refusing him. My husband could die if not treated. That would be a big lawsuit. read more

First off the office staff is ignorant, lazy, rude, entitled and mean. they never did any work and almost cost my husband his job for not filling out FMLA paperwork. The wait in the waiting room was usually over 40 minutes or longer. Our doctor, Dr. Lopez, met us for our initial visit where we addressed our medical issues and some medical concerns and goals. He seemed very nice the first 2 or three. is it's, but he changed very quickly for no reason (I asked why he was irritated with us and he didn't say anything). At the time, I was 245 pounds and was barely eating and worked out moderately through the week, each week. I wasn't loosing weight, I even gained a few pounds and you could see that I hadn't lost any fat in my mid section, but I had some muscle tone showing. when I had him check me out, especially for my thyroid and he said everything is normal and that my health is my fault. I have arthritis, fibromyalsia, missing discs in my c4/c5 and c5/c6, have major nerve damage in my neck which causes major migraines and I know my body and something felt wrong. I was never hungry, I had depression, was gaining some weight even though I wasn't eating, had a chronic sore throat and my throat would swell. His answer for me til I left his practice was...any medical question followed by him saying "it's because you are fat". my husband and I finally got fed up and sat down and explained in detail my symptoms, which I double checked the symptoms on Mayo and Cleveland clinic, stating I know that my thyroid wasn't showing up highly abnormal (just at the low end of normal). he then said " it's because I am at and need to work out, which I was. then I explained I had had a goiter at 19 (which I told him a half dozen times) and then he said hmmm maybe I should get you to an endocrinologist just to double check. He then still made a few tongue in cheek comments and was generally frustrthat at me for reasons unknown. I saw him two more times after that and found out by my last visit that I have a thyroid disease called Hashimotos disease. After I left Dr. Lopez's practice at the Buffalo medical group I year later at 247 pounds and after my endocrinologist got me on the rightdose , I am now (a year later) I weigh 174lbs and have gone down 10 pant sizes and went from 2xshirts to m/l shirts. The only thing I changed from Lopeze's office is a medicine called Levothyroxine and because of pain issues I stopped working out and still lost all the weight. I have never been so discriminated against before in my life and leaving this doctor was the best thing I could have done. read more

Bad bad feelings about this group and the dr I was seeing there... I had a younger primary car physician there and he was relentlessly aggressive about putting me on Lipitor and I wanted to try to lower my cholesterol with diet and exercise , well he didn't want to hear it and was insistent on me going on it by giving me coupons for scripts , I dropped my numbers by 50 pts but he told me my plan to do it naturally was " obviously not working " to quote him exactly ,.. Then he started calling me to see if I went and filled the prescription and leaving aggressive messages on my vm , I called him and said I would see him and we'll see how my numbers are at my next appt , he was very condescending as seemed very angry ... I lost 10lbs from 185 to 175 5'10 male 50 yrs old. Normal blood pressure ,,. next thing I got was a letter dropping me as a patient !,, nice..!!! My son was seeing Dr. Block for sleep problems. He had a sleep study done there. We had to wait 2 weeks to find the results of the sleep study. Unfortunately, when our appointment was scheduled (today, Sept 19, 2016), we were 15 min late mostly due to Essjay being blocked off. We had to detour all the way around through heavy traffic to the Sheridan entrance and deal with the construction down Essjay. By the time we got in the building and herded into the cattle check in corral, we were turned away because we were 15 min late. It takes me 45 min just to drive there one way. I could not believe it. I know I waited longer than 15 min to be seen for our initial appt., it's not like they run on time. I asked the woman at check in if they knew the road was going to be blocked off and she said yes! I then asked her why were the patients scheduled for today not given a call to warn us about it so we could give ourselves extra time to get there. I got no response from her. I have no problems with Dr. Block as a doctor, but the practice and the people who work there are horrible! I am never going back! read more
