Why would you allow,or clear,a patient for AN ELECTIVE SURGERY,when that patient had sepsis (Enterococcus faecalis),not responding whatsoever to treatment, her heart valve also had this growing on it (They were going to send her to Mercy Hospital, NEVER DID) and pneumonia. They first said she was too sick to go to the OR,then someone said they were going to take, then no again. This went on for about 5 or 6 changes. We asked time again what was going on ,and we're told, shes going into surgery.... Later that night coded.... Sent to ICU... Passed away at 8:03 a.m. the next day,but im thinking it was before that. Shouldn't the heart, which runs everything AND the bacteria be "fixed" or tended to first? Absolutely NO communication between staff, nobody could answer ANYTHING and when you did ask,you were really putting them out. In my surgical experience, if you so much as sneezed ,you were rescheduled. This was NOT life threatening. No common sense much less medical knowledge Thank you Sisters of Charity Hospital for taking my mother. As promised, I wanted to update my review since having my emergency surgery here (my only surgery…read morehere). First things first, they got me into an ER immediately. I was worried they wouldn't take me seriously as I had level 10 pain a few weeks back and then it suddenly dropped to a 1 or 2 and I signed myself out. However, what was wrong that day, did turn out to be an a urgent matter - one that couldn't be addressed due to waiting on my insurance to approve it - and so, back to ER I went and found out I needed emergency surgery (which I had 13 hours later). I will admit, I cried a bit out of fear. The older I get, and the more I fall in love with life, the more fearful I get. I'm also a mom. Upon expressing my fears, a staff of the surgery team assured me that although this is new and scary to me, it is something that is performed everyday and nothing new for my surgeon and I'll be ok. When I was brought up for surgery, I was a bit loopy ... I hadn't slept and was taking some pain medication to get by. I started blabbering from this combo to the lady checking me in .. A LOT. She was absolutely gracious and patient listening to me, even leaning in a bit when I started to whisper a bit for privacy. I wish I knew her name for a more personal thank you haha. I don't even remember being brought in to surgery to be honest. I remember 2 anesthesiologists coming to ask some questions and the next thing I knew, I woke up in my original hospital room. The hospital was good at treating my pain which allowed me to finally sleep that night (I was also fortunate my roommate left, and the next patient went bizerk in regards to sharing a room ... it was a while scene ... so I had peace and quiet too). When I woke up in the morning, I was brought a hardy but low fat breakfast and it was good (French Toast!). Some hours later, I ordered lunch but I was wheeled out to my car before it arrived by a very nice young man who had excellent manners. I waited to write my review to see how I was recovering. I am 2 months post-op, had a follow up today, and I am doing well! Thank you so much to the wonderful, friendly, and efficient staff here at my neighborhood hospital! You are all doing an amazing job, from the check in desk on through. Surgery can be scary, but you all made my stay here as good as it could be.

They apologized and said they were short handed. She has been feeling better for several days, and has been told she was going home "tomorrow" for the last three days. They said they needed to run a certain scan before they would release her and apparently it took three days to do it. It is now Friday, scan was done yesterday. She thought she was getting out last evening, and then they promised her today she would go home. Now they told her insurance has not approved her home health care, and she won't be going anywhere - Monday at the soonest because insurance company won't be able to approve it until next week. This poor 41 year old has stage 4 cancer and two small children at home she hasn't seen in over a week. I've called to talk to medical director, the CEO, her doctors and left messages. No call back at all! This place has done more harm than good for all of us.

Someone suggested this particular hospital so we drove from Canada into the Buffalo New York area. At first looking at the reviews we were hesitant however we decided to proceed forward. The staff as you enter the hospital was very friendly. They came out to the car and helped us get grandma out of the backseat of the SUV. The Hospital was not busy so our wait times were low, they moved her into the back and got her all checked in. We immediately went to x-ray and again the staff was absolutely wonderful. The nice young man who used to be a paramedic was very kind and helped with the anxiety and fear that grandma head. At the end of the day thankfully grandma's hip was not fractured, we were given a copy of our x-rays and we will head back to Southern California and follow up with her primary doctor. When you read all the negative reviews please make sure to take a look at what they are really complaining about. Most people are complaining about the time delay while waiting to get checked in. That is how it is at most ER's and I don't think it's fair that you write a negative review about how long the wait time is , it really comes down to how many people are sick and injured. We were very lucky and there was no one ahead of us so we were in and out in less than 2 1/2 hours. If you go to the ER and there are several people in front of you you're gonna have to wait and that is not the fault of the hospital.

I had complications from the first surgery, which led to an emergency situation. I had 2 more surgeries in 2 weeks and spent 16 days in the hospital. My review here is for the nursing staff and the nurses aids most of all. What an incredible group of people! I can't even begin to describe how they helped me through 2 weeks of severe pain. At times I needed as much care as a baby. Could barely move in bed without help. These amazing nurses and aids were always there for me. In addition to absolute professionalism, they were all genuinely friendly and compassionate. I had so much pain that I was given dilaudid up to every 3 hours as needed for the entire 16 day period and they made sure I remained as comfortable as possible. I also truly enjoyed talking to all of them. They were willing to trade stories or just chat a bit as time allowed and this helped me feel less lonely and I will admit, I was afraid sometimes - it was serious. But they put me at ease. Many went out of their way to provide comfort in various forms. One angel of a nurse was sharing her love of animals with me and I showed her a picture of my late dog. She took a picture of my dog on her phone and the next day brought me a plaque with that photo on it and a sweet saying in her remembrance. Got choked up from that kindness! I have yet another surgery coming up in a couple months. It's serious as well. Hopefully just a few days in the hospital if all works out. I'm certainly not looking forward to another surgery and hospitalization but I must admit, I'm looking forward to these incredible nurses that I know I can depend on. Amazing nursing staff. Thanks to ever one of them.

Well, they called there and they had a 6 hour wait. So we went to Degraff. Degraff was nice and small and not overwhelmed with people. It was nice to experience this. You'll tell security why you're there, fill out a little yellow form, and put it in a tray outside of the triage nurse window. While you're waiting, there is a TV on. Surprisingly, it was playing Psycho (the old Alfred Hitchcock movie). I'm not complaining at all, just was not expecting that! There is a station where you can borrow complimentary chargers, which was great, as I was not expecting this and my phone was low on battery. You'll give the machine your number and a credit or debit card from your phone (I think I used Apple Pay). This is just to assure you'll bring the charger back and will not charge you unless you don't bring it back on time (I believe it gave me 24 hours with it, if needed). It will give you the date and time to return by. Then, you'll just stick in any of the open ports and you'll get a text confirming your return (and a message on the screen where you returned it). The overall visit was very pleasant and went by quickly. We were in and out of the ER in 3 hours flat. This included a CT scan. The staff was incredibly nice and communicated well.
