    Dessert also gross

The food is either dry or tasteless. Taste is not good stale and old. The seafood is so damn gross.

I'm trying to be vegan. Although this wasn't completely vegan, I was able to get a good selection of mostly vegetarian options.

The food was cold, and I ate a mussel that had something hairy in it and spat it out. It ruined my appetite.

Nice selection of food but would be nice if they give the carpet a deep clean. Variety is adequate and food is tasty. Crabs a hit and miss

I've found that a lot of Chinese food in Des Moines is catered to American tastes (salty and greasy), which is not what I enjoy.

I tried probably about half the things in the buffet (and there is a ridiculous variety) and there was not a single thing I tried that was actually bad. I would skip the onion rings but I can't even call it bad since it's still better than burger king's. The variety is pretty crazy so it would be impossible to detail everything. There's a solid selection of both Chinese and American food, along with a Mongolian BBQ section where you can build your own Lo Mein plate. The desert section is kinda wild, lots of fruits, jello, cakes, pudding, and ice cream cups. The restaurant goes kinda crazy with the front lobby decoration. There's a Koi pond! It's a buffet so I'm not sure what to comment on the service, but I didn't have any complaints. Nothing on the menu was particularly outstanding to me, but that variety with consistently solid quality and rock-bottom prices (like $15 for an Adult, but my sense of pricing may be a bit off from being from SF Bay Area) is absolutely wild.

Had the shrimp from the hibachi area I should have knew better because it wasn't frozen it was thawed out in a big pile. Shrimp onion zucchini bean sprouts and broccoli to be exact. Used ginger powder onion powder garlic powder and asked for spicy oil. Eaten an egg roll some sushi. As I'm eating my sister in law noticed her fish wasn't cooked all the way through. Her husband had informed a person about it. Workers behind the sushi line and hibachi line were constantly on their phones texting or scrolling who knows. Red flag #2 cross contamination. I'm upset this is my mother in laws favorite birthday spot we've been coming here for 6 years. The way I had projectile vomited and had diarrhea last night was unacceptable. I practically threw up 3pounds I also haven't eaten anything all day so I know for sure it was something from here

We stopped in again last Tuesday for the lunch buffet at right about noon. We were greeted and told to take a seat as normal, but that's kind of where things ended. We sat in the booth for a few minutes. Normally a server checks in with you and takes a drink order at least and releases you to the buffet. No sign of anyone returning... We finally got up and headed to the buffet on our own. A lot of the warming trays on the buffet were already mostly empty and hadn't been refreshed. We did our best to fill a first plate (tandoori chicken, chicken biryani, goat curry, etc.) and went back to our booth. When we got back to our seat there was a carafe of water and a basket of naan on the table. That was a good thing. My co-worker was able to flag down the server to get him a Diet Coke. The food was good. What there was of it... After finishing the first plate we headed back up and it was kind of the same story. Quite a few empty warming trays... But at least a couple of the previously empty ones (aloo gobi and chicken 65) had been refilled so we got some variety. While we were up our first plates hadn't been cleared from the table... Maybe they were short staffed...? It only appeared to be the one gentleman working the front acting as host, server, and cashier. Given the lack of attention to guests and keeping the buffet replenished... I'm really hoping this extreme was a one-off, but things have been a little hot and cold the last couple of visits. It's a shame. We really enjoyed this buffet for a couple of years after our first visit. I've pretty much given them a pass until now hoping it would return to normal. Crossing my fingers things will get better again. With competition like Chowrastha not far away... They're too close by (Ashworth and 60th in West Des Moines) to be letting your game slip like this...

We came here to try something new for our anniversary. I'd read through reviews, which were very…read moremixed, and decided to see for ourselves. We've been to Fogo du Chao, which is definitely a very upscale version of this style of restaurant. With the understanding that you get what you pay for, we did not expect something that fancy. Still, this was an expensive indulgence for us - we did not order alcohol or dessert, having only fountain pop and the full churrasco experience. For two people, this was over $100. We live a ways north of Ames, so we had over an hour drive to come. Unfortunately, we were disappointed over all. First, the good: plenty of parking, very clean, cute, spacious - it was not busy, so not noisy. The service was quick and efficient but impersonal. We never had to wait for a drink refill, but never had a, "my name is, and I'll be your server today" kind of person. Everything was very clean. Second, the negatives: We prefer to follow a keto/carnivore-ish eating pattern, so I was very excited to go to a place that seemed to emphasize meats. We did visit the salad bar at first, just to see what was there. We sampled a few of the offerings - the cucumber salad had literally no discernible dressing of any kind. A tomato salad was mushy and mealy. My husband tried the cheesy mashed potatoes and said they were dry and lacking in flavor. There was a pasta alfredo, but the alfredo sauce was ridiculously watery.  The meats, when they came, were merely okay. I don't prefer chicken, but the chicken was good, well seasoned and well cooked, and not too dry. The pork selections were gristly and tough. The beef selections - when they got to our table - were also tough and unseasoned. I like beef in almost any style, and this was okay, but nothing unique or delicious. I could have cooked it better at home. Nothing caramelized or crispy on the outside. Often, we would see the beef come out, and by the time they made a small loop in the restaurant, it was gone before they got to our table. We only got steak once, though we were offered chicken, pork and sausage several times. We had the barbeque beef, and this also was a nice flavor, but this beef was overcooked and very tough. Overall, this was not worth the money to us. I am sad, because I like this style of restaurant, and it is the only one in Des Moines, and I really want it to succeed. However, I've had better salad bar selections in variety and freshness at Chinese buffets, and I could get a huge, delicious steak and grilled shrimp at Texas Roadhouse, Outback Steakhouse, etc., for a fraction of the price. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this to anyone.

The food was actually pretty good. The restaurant could use some new chairs and booths, but the service was short and to the point. Definitely a hole-in-the-wall establishment. Food: Korean menu Tangsooyook (Korean Sweet and Sour Pork) 4/5- the dish didn't come out looking that appetizing because it was drenched in sauce but it was actually good and tasted as it should taste. They also have a chicken version of this. Mapo Tofu 3.5/5 - this was Korean-style. It was pretty tasty as well and had a hint of gochujang in it. Chinese menu Lunch Shrimp Lo Mein 3/5- this was okay. I probably wouldn't get it again as it was mostly veggies and hardly any noodles. Flavor wasn't bad at all. Lunch General's Chicken 4/5- this was delicious and chicken was crispy. The wait time is too long with service not as customer forward as in the past. Customers rely on consistency for a good return on their money and taste fulfillment being primary at a time when small food businesses are losing customers due to cost and food quality. The inside is well worn with decor especially the floor needing a deep cleaning which makes one spend less time in the environment. As times change businesses must maintain good quality control to retain repeat customers.
