Birthday bear- pay your age - bear only.
    Kelley K.

This review is only for the birthday bear. A nice family told us about the birthday bear while dining nearby for my kiddos birthday, we decided to give it a try and it's very cute- of course you're trying to be upsold every step of the way. The birthday bear offer requires you to register with build-a-Bear and input the child's age. You then pay age of the child for the bear so a 5yr old coat $5 etc. The cost is for the stuffed bear only and it doesn't include clothing or the accessories. Children will receive a bear birth certificate, and it is an adorable interactive activity for young children. Recommend stopping in during your kiddos birthday month to create their own stuffy.

    Celebrating my daughters special day!

The adults were supervising from a distance. The layout of the store could be improved. A couple aisles were dead ends which caused some difficulty with ease of movement. Character-themed Hasbro games were solely placed on a top-most shelf. The items on the lower shelves were from independent manufacturers. One of the character-based games caught my eye. Fortunately, one of the young hires approached me at the right time. After pointing to the game, she excused herself, went to the back room to get a ladder and grabbed the game. If I had wanted one of the independently-published games, I could have it grabbed myself. Browsing the store with my hands full was cumbersome. The same employee offered to take the items to the register until I was ready to pay. When it was time to pay, I opted for their complimentary gift-wrapping. If there was a wait, they would have texted me.

The Toy Maven has a few locations in the DFW area and offer such a wide variety of toys. The employees at this location are always super friendly and knowledgeable. They can help you pick out gifts based on age groups. The prices are reasonable. Maybe not as competitive as some of the corporate giants but that's expected from a specialty toy store. They carry a large amount of Jellycats too! I was able to get a Jellycat that was sold out everywhere online. They charge the same prices you'd see on the Jellycat site.

From the few photos and the name, I thought it would be more of a children's bookstore but I was so wrong. As soon as you enter, the amazing staff welcomes you and is eager to help you find any books you are looking for. Right at the entrance they had the fantasy and romance section which is a personal favorite, and I immediately found a couple of books that have been on my list. I absolutely LOVED that they had self published books from indie authors, which is so rare to find at any local bookstore (you usually have to wait for them to be re-published by a publisher to find them anywhere besides Amazon). They also have a children's section which is super cute, and I found a couple of things for my little one. On the top floor they have a couple of couches for you to hang out and a section of used books. Frankly, this was one of the best bookstores I found in the DFW area, and I can't wait to come back and support them!

We bought a Christmas gift that literally broke while we were still opening gifts. This was gifted to a gentle kid who was not using it outside of the expected use, and a piece broke off. I took it back to the store and the employee man-splained to me that even though it was broken, it still worked. He actually located the item on Amazon to show me what part was missing. I LITERALLY WATCHED IT BREAK. It was beyond insulting. I finally said that if he wasn't going to exchange or refund, Id like to leave (he kept the item this entire time and wasnt giving it back). Additionally, we bought a lionel item for a family member who had a duplicate. They had a record of the sale in the computer and still found a way to deny an exchange of an unopened item. Stores like this are why Amazon thrives. Even when I try to buy from the little guys, they find a way to make me regret it.
