My friends and I managed to "build a bear" that embodies the fear I have from a student at school and I shed tears witnessing it in all its beauty. This truly is a magical place. I will forever value this place in my heart so long as it's open. I truly believe all the employees there deserve a raise and may all their years be filled with prosperity and fortune. We had such a great experience at Build-A-Bear Workshop! I visited with three kids ranging in age from 5 to 11, and the staff truly made the visit special for all of them. From the moment we walked in, the employees were welcoming, patient, and incredibly helpful. They made tons of thoughtful suggestions, helping the kids pick out bears, outfits, and accessories. What impressed me most was how fun and engaging they made the process, even for my older child who usually thinks he's "too cool" for this kind of thing. They managed to pull him in and make it genuinely enjoyable for him too. The whole experience felt organized, upbeat, and memorable, and all of the kiddos left so happy with their creations. Huge shout-out to the staff for making it such a fun experience. We'll definitely be back! PS: this wasn't our first visit, as we've been many times before with our older child. Estoy extremadamente desepcionada, hoy fui a build a bear con mi novio y fuimos bienvenidos por una empleada llamada "mykayla" después nos dejo por 15 minutos esperando a que nos llenen el oso. Y una empleada llamada "victoria", nos dio la bienvenida y nos pregunto si ya estabamos listos y le explicamos como estabamos esperando por 15 minutos en español y nos pregunto muy profesionalmente si queriamos alguien que nos explicara el proceso en español o en ingles y le dijimos que lo preferíamos en español, ella fue super agradable con nosotros. Y nos trajo otra empleada llamada Tina para ayudarnos en nuestra experencia. Tina nos estaba ayudando con nuestro oso y en la esquina escuchamos a la empleada Mikayla riendose de nuestro idioma y nos sentimos super ofendida. Hasta que llego a un punto que la escuchabamos decir "negro" y no lo paraba de repetir con una voz casi gritando preguntando Victoria si la "palabra negro significaba la n word en español". La empleada victoria se veia super incomoda con la situación, despues de escuchar eso va y sigue con una cara super asquerosa y la empleada Tina nos vuelve a ayudar con el oso super amablemente teniendo en cuenta lo que está pasando. Después victoria se fue y todavía podiamos escuchar a la empleada Mikayla al lado de nosotros en el checkout decir "no hablo español" en un español muy malo. Nunca mas voy a volver a ese build a bear la verdad es que estoy decepcionada, nunca pense que iba a pasar por una situacion tan mala en build a bear, esto no debería llegar al punto que haga una review, esto es algo completamente insuperable. Took my daughter for her 4th birthday. They have a birthday bear that you "pay your age" for. The bear itself comes out to whatever the child's age is and you can add clothes and accessories for an extra cost. There was only one employee in the front and someone came out from the back and saw that there was about 3 different parties there and went back to the back instead of helping the other employee deal with all of us that were just staging around waiting to get helped. I had almost forgotten about this place but happened to be at the Falls and my toddler got drawn to the giant teddy bear in the window display. I wanted to make him happy so I let him pick a stuffed animal. He picked the blue dinosaur. It is a cute experience where they let the kids make a wish, kiss a little heart, and then they sow it inside the stuffed animal. However, as many people mentioned in their reviews, they have the kids pick between a bunch of things and do not mention to the parent that these are add-on charges. There was a sound they put it, a beating heart and a scent (that you don't even smell). All of these extras were at least $6.50+tax each making the toy twice as expensive. I went along with it for the experience but I can see this as very challenging for people with a tight budget. After you're done building the toy, you can name it and they print out a certificate for you. My son wanted to carry his Dino but FYI all boxes and bags cost extra too. After we spent $50 on a stuffed animal, my son was really excited to check out the store and play with his toy there. It seemed like the employees didn't like that. They kept looking at him and whispering to each other. Then they told me unless we buy it, he can't play with the other toys in the store. They waited for him to step away and then grabbed the choo choo train he was playing with as well. Maybe I'm overreacting and it's just store policy but I thought it was a bit hostile especially since we were paying customers (others were sitting there forever deciding on what they want). So I left immediately. My son enjoyed it so I can't say that I don't recommend it. But I think they should reconsider their pushy sales practices. read more

We were there to get my son a birthday bear for his 1st birthday. We just wanted the bear but of course they try to upsell you which didn't bother me, what bothered me is that every time we said no thank you the sales person kept reminding us this was build a bear. As if just getting the bear wasn't the point. (My son is 1, the bear is enough) By the time she got to the stuffing part it's supposed to be cute and I was trying to make my son a part of it which I think is the point but she grew increasingly irritated. She told me to hug it to see if it had enough stuffing and I showed it to my son and she grabs it out of my hand to finish. Her attitude just seemed to ruin the whole experience. 2 stars because it's a cute bear for the $1 we paid. (Again, not expecting much from the $1 but maybe don't advertise a pay your age bear then give customers an attitude for taking you up on the deal) read more

I went for a birthday bear for my little sister and they didn't have anymore in stock so we had ended up just getting a regular bear at regular price w/ accessories . The experience went well with the workers although until after I got home a good 40 minute drive.. we checked the receipt and it showed we had gotten the bear with scent & voice included so they upcharged us when we never had any extras. They need to charge us correctly I don't understand how that mistake can be made. read more

Prices are high, but if you have children, this is a must do! The staff walks you through the process, is polite. There are tons of different "looks" to choose from. Half the fun is picking out the clothing and the accessories. Do come prepared to spend about $40-$50 though, as the clothing and accessories sure add up. My daughter loves this store! read more

took my niece here for her birthday to "build a bear" but in my experience it was "build a bill". from the beginning to the end the employees agenda is to simply make the bear as expensive as they possibly can (from what i saw). they dont ask the adult if they can add this or that, they ask the kid if they want it first and then ask the adult "if its ok". i can either look like and asshole to my neice and say no (resulting in crying) or i can say "i have no choice now right?" to the employee and just go with it to make the kid happy. everything was fine until i see my niece is unhappy with how her bear looked because these pushy ass employee's build an expensive bear for them instead of letting them pick and choose on their own. so what did i do? i undress the bear that the employee "suggested" to my niece and told her to pick out the outfit she wants so she can actually walk out happy with her bear. if you come here watch out for these snake ass employees trying to build a bill and make you look like a stingy asshole infront of your kid. and a message to the employee's, i have the money but i dont have the patience for people taking advantage of me, imagine if i was broke just trying to make my kid happy with a lousy 20$ bill...? read more

Great shop but the employees are trained to push additional items in a sneaky way and it's not appreciated. Especially when your already spending over $50 for a stuffed animal. Before stuffing, they push the child to inserting sound into the bear. Of course she wanted it so we agreed. Then they started pushing air freshener items to make the bear have a scent. But they don't ask the parents if they want the added charge, they ask the kids if they want the items without mentioning the charge. Both me and my husband said no to the scent. Then after stuffing, they asked my daughter to pick a heart to put inside. She thought they meant the scent ones, so she grab one. And when i said not that one, the employees response was, "but that's the item she wants and chose". I was in shock. Young employee... she'll learn when she has kids of her own one day. Then, at the register they ask the child what they want to carry the bear home with. Not the parent, the child! Each option is also an additional charge. They also ask for a donation when you swipe your credit card. The experience would be great if they just laid out all the options and let the parents choose what they would like to pay additional for. But still 3 stars because the stuffed animal is nice and my child is happy. read more

This place is really cute for little kids. You pick out which kind of stuffed animal you want, then you go over to the machine that fills it with stuffing. There you can add scent, a voice recording, and a beating heart to your stuffed toy. That's what kind of annoyed me. The staff asks the children, not the adults, about all of these extras. The price is posted but never mentioned, and all together will add an extra $16 to your toy. And what the heck do kids know about add-on's? They say yes to everything. I felt like a jerk having to intervene when the girl asked my kid, "What do you want your teddy bear to smell like?!" because we're not big fans of artificial scents, I had no idea how strong the scent would be, and I didn't want my kid sneezing her face off after spending over $50 on a stuffed bear. They should ask the parents about the add-on features before telling the kids to grab all of these items to shove inside the bears. After your toy is stuffed you take it over for a "bath" and brushing, and then you move on to picking out an outfit. There's a huge variety of outfits with coordinating accessories. Everything from Miami Heat jerseys to wedding dresses. The staff was friendly and really well trained on selling you all sorts of things to go with your new toy. Build a bear is located in the Falls mall next door to Justice. This is my sons favorite store. There are many animals to choose from that satisfy any child's likes. The animal availability does seem to change out each season so if you see one you like, get it! It may not be around on your next trip. Your child begins their journey picking out the animal it would like to take home. The staff then helps the child stuff the animal and give the animal their "heart" super cute! The child makes a wish and then the animal gets sewn up. At this stage a lot of additional add ons ($$) are offered including a beating heart beat, sounds and smells you can put in the animal. The cloth heart is included in the animals original price. After being sewn up, you child can then "wash" the animal at the air stations. Then you can pick out all the fun clothes for them. Dresses, PJ, shoes, and accessories are all available. This can get pricy as well after you add up all the extras! Lastly your child goes to the computer and gets an adoption certificate and picks out the animals new name. All in all a great experience. Four star review is that I feel the animals/accessories are a bit overpriced for the quality. My son has purchased over 20 animals and we constantly have to go back to get the animal restitched. The staff is always friendly and there is no charge, but it's a hassle and usually ends with another animal purchased! read more

Went here for a birthday party. I didn't even know they did birthday party celebrations here. Anyways, it is such a cute idea! The party is inside the store not in a private area or anything but there is enough room for the kids to be comfortable. It would be cool if they did have a private room though, however the experience was still good. So there is a staff member that is assigned to the group that hypes up the kids and takes them around telling them what to do. Choosing the bear, the clothes and then when their bear is done, they do a little walkway show showing off their bear. As I understand they do not allow you to bring food for the party, but there are lots of restaurants around the mall to go take your party and eat after which is what my friend did. The most important thing is that the kids had fun and they get to take home a bear...super cute! read more

If you have children, this is just about the cutest of the cutest as it gets!!!! I took my daughter there yesterday, and it was just a great experience. When you walk in, there is a wall of unstuffed bears, dogs, cats, and even a hello kitty doll-- The staff who were there on this day were very nice at explaining everything to me on how purchasing the items worked. After picking her bear, the staff members stuff the bear with the cotton, and my daughter placed a small red heart inside her bear, and before that the staff made her say a little poem about taking care of her bear, and giving her bear love and giving a home-- it was just the cutest. Then after that, the real fun begins and we went "shopping" for bear clothes--- which they have a gazzillion different cute outfits to choose from, and they even have panties for the bears!!! Not only outfits, but shoes, and accessories, for "boy" and "girl" bears. They even have "baby bear" outfits, and princess outfits for the bears (or whatever other animal the kid chooses). After picking out the cutes outfit, and shoes, we wrote up a "birth certificate" of the bear and gave the bear a name--- how cute is that?? The store was very clean, lots of things to choose from, and they are not as expensive as I thought. $32/for a bear with clothing, shoes, and a small shoulder bag (free), and a free online game to play with the bear. Overall, this store is just the best. I would definitely recomend this store to other people! read more
