I took my nephew here for his birthday outing and he loved every minute of it. We loved the process of creating the bear for him. From picking the animal, completing its birth certificate, recording his voice, and choosing an outfit! It was oh so fun and I loved how interactive and creative the process was. It's great for kids. I went there twice this month for my daughters 5th and 10th birthdays. My first experience was nice, but then my second experience was cold the workers were very unfriendly and standoffish. It was a very unpleasant interaction and I'll never return. read more

The workers here are so nasty and rude. Me and some friends walk in and you can already tell at face value they have a problem. We not once's got asked did we need help instead the practically yelled and said NO Drinking or eating to note the food was indeed closed. Then at the register when there was a pricing issue instead of being accountable for their mistake they decided to have an attitude. I would much rather drive to a different location if i was able to. Just a horrible experience and their merchandise selection seems so stale and dry . You can definitely tell when a worker is upset cause they show that attitude to the customer read more

THIS is specifically why I brought my grand-niece to National Harbor. It was so quiet in the store; we had it all to ourselves. What's the hardest thing about bringing a 16-month old to build a bear? ...getting them to focus! There are so many options. You can pick your bear, give them a heart, give them a voice, dress them, and buy them furniture. Soooo much to consider! My niece finally honed in on the purple kitty (I can't remember her name there were so many). It was a Halloween kitty that we could dress in a Halloween get-up with a witch hat and broom. So cute. The store employee filled it with stuffing and asked if we wanted more. The baby chose the heart and handed it over to be placed inside. The outfit came separate. Once purchased the store employee asked if we wanted him to dress the cat. Lol.... Too cute. They were very helpful. You could easily spend hundreds of dollars in here if you purchase more than one outfit, furniture, voice options, etc. But it's a key memory for the baby and she loved that cat. read more

This delivers the build-a-bear experience you'd expect in a place that was convenient for a staycation at the Gaylord National Hotel. We had a lot of fun because they had grinch, Harry Potter, and Star Wars stuffed animals to pick from. I probably would have done the Boba Fett one and my wife would have done something Harry Potter, but the kids made a grinch and a red dinosaur and loved it. As normal, the build-a-bear experience is pretty fun picking everything you want out and then seeing it get stuffed and get all the accessories. The downside (as normal) is the price. It wound up being $100 for two stuffed animals, but the kids really love them and they're different from anything you would have picked up off the shelf elsewhere. The store gets an extra half star for asking the group that walked in without face masks to either put on masks or leave. They left. read more

9/26/20 This Build A Bear Shop has more to offer than the other shop we visited today. However, the music I heard was atrocious. I can't remember who was playing, but this is a good thing. We were the only ones to stop by at the time so the employee who greeted us was dancing to the music playing. Still she had a sense of humor, but I think she would have rather been by herself. We didn't buy anything even though this store had Baltimore Ravens Merchandise for your stuffed animal. Maybe next time. read more

This was my first time in a Build-A-Bear Workshop but I was instantly transformed to a magical place when I entered. The eight year old in me giggled with delight as my eyes took in everything the workshop had to offer. There were clothes and accessories for the bears, a wall to pick out your bear, a stuffing machine to stuff your bears, a birth certificate station, and more! I don't want to spoil all of the fun for anyone who hasn't gone before but I can certainly see why kids and adults alike are enamored with a place like this. They do a fantastic job of making you feel as if you are really "building a bear" during the entire process. This is not a typical toy store, if you're looking for drone workers and a small selection of stuffed animals to grab and dash then this isn't the place for you. The workers were attentive, very friendly and helpful, the place was clean despite about 10 kids running around, and the stations were easy to use. I only put 25 minutes in the meter and had to feed it twice more as my visit took about an hour. The company's motto is "Where Best Friends Are Made" and it really does feel like you're making a plushy friend just for you. If you're in the market for a bear, try it out your inner child will thank you. read more

My brother took my son in and I came along. Wasn't sure what to expect... There is a whole ritual to this that I was not aware of, the kiddo loved it. I'd say the up-selling is full-tilt, but the staff is friendly and great with our shy guy. We left with everyone happy and under $30, so win-win for the family. read more

We arrived early for the age promotion after a 2 hour bus ride and had to leave the line to let my daughter use the restroom (this was a surprise early birthday trip and treat). Upon returning to the line we were directed to the back and upon arrival told no one else could get in line. This is all well before 11 am. We even saw a family leave the line and the employee refused to allow us to return to the line to take their place. Absolutely ridiculous. The store disconnected the phones so all calls get rejected. Customer service must be so swamped that I get a circuit full messages and call reject. There is no way to reach anyone and I'm standing out in the heat with our 7 month old and two year old completely floored by the uncaring attitude and compassionless response to our situation. Edit: Apparently build a bear is sending out vouchers, but that doesn't excuse this employee or store. My wife was even able to return to her spot in line (thanks to those in line near us previously) and the woman who turned us away from trying to do the right thing kicked her out of line just because she saw her near the back. She even threatened to call the police. I'm not sure if this was due to my wife's race or religion (African and Muslim) but she was the only person getting threatened for returning to her spot in line when others were definitely doing the same to seek shade for the kids or to find a bathroom just like us. Maybe it's time to seek a lawyer. Would avoid this store if I were you. read more

Andrea made my daughters experience a magical one, this evening. We had been doing the tourist thing all day and she was quite bored. We walked past this workshop and I took her in for a treat. Andrea greeted us warmly and walked through each step w/ my daughter....she made her feel like the bear she was building was the most important in the world! We came here during National Teddy Bear Day, so the bears were $5 each. At first, we had the whole store to ourselves so the service was great. Then it became really busy and it seemed the staff was unable to keep up with the demand. The birth certificate station became a bottle neck situation with only two computers. Then the staff had difficulty matching the certificates with the customers. I appreciated the outfits they had on sale, since my kids always destroy or lose the items quickly. read more

This store has the same fun concept as other Build-A-Bear Workshops, of course, but the surroundings are much less impressive. Kids probably won't mind much -- other than potential delays -- but as an adult it's very unimpressive and gives the impression of a store that had to open before it was ready or that is occupying a temporary location. The set-up is terrible -- despite an attempt to follow the standard 'template' of other Build-A-Bear stores, the way this store is set up means the areas where lines always build up block other customers from critical merchandise areas. For instance, the backed-up line for the stuffing blocks access to the wall of stuffed animal 'shells' that allows a customer to start the process. Also, the vast amount of open space -- I don't know if the store is understocked compared to others or if the store size simply caught them offguard -- allows you to gaze in wonder upon the rough, raw, untreated concrete floor, which in other Build-A-Bear's is covered by light wood. All-in-all, you can get your stuffed animal here, but go elsewhere if you want the smooth experience usually found at the stores (in my limited experience). read more
