I found myself looking at games I played as a kid in the 80's and have seen some of the changes since the game orginally came out. From the Gearhead Stunt Garage to the Cooperative Games I have never heard of, but knew of song and/sayings. Apparently these are now a game. Scented pencils are sold here and I think about the crayons that were Scented from when I was in school. The things that trigger memories from your past. The ambience, prices and cleanliness are at an all time high. It is a Saturday today and a lot of kids and parents are in the store. The people in here are well behaved. I stopped in to checkout their smiki blind boxes. I was happy to see they carried several series. The staff is pretty nice and are ready to help if you need it. I picked up a few boxes and their prices are pretty good. This a great toy shop that offers a lot of selections for small children to even bigger kids (aka the adults). There is a small parking lot in the back that gets kind of busy on the weekends, but it's definitely worth checking out. read more

They're always active on their social media to announce their inventory, and seem to be one of the only official sellers in the area that actually sells their Smiski at a REASONABLE price. The staff are friendly and responsive to questions via Instagram DMs. I never really go there for any of their other items, but they seem to have a great collection and variety of other interesting collectibles! This independently-owned toy store has stood the test of time and still remains a family favorite! From baby-hood to young girlhood, this store has provided us with lots of creative playtime, learning opportunities, and also a fun way to escape the cold on winter days. In a Robux world, Doodlehopper has introduced me and my children to so many fun games, stories, art supplies, and more. They truly have the best selection and they even offer free gift wrap! The employees always seem genuinely happy to work at the store, even in the throes of winter holiday shopping frenzies. The last time I went, one of of the shopkeepers was making friendly conversation with all of the children and was so patient with letting each child choose a special sticker that matches their interest. Very disappointed management needs a reality check. One of the small toy stores in the area similar to Childs Play Toys & Kinder Haus Toys. They all offer similar products. They have all been goto spots for my kids to buy Needoh & Pokemon cards. Even thought prices are higher it's fun to look around and support smaller businesses. Unfortunately Doodlehopper is hopping on the scalper train and has been raising Pokemon prices to extremely high levels. An item that has a MSRP of $15 (1st Partners collection) costs $35 here. The Mega Greninja ex Premium Collection MSRP is $40 and they have it for $85. Come on! They were selling packs for $4.99 then I came back the next day and they were $5.99. An employee told me no they are $4.99 I'm not sure why they changed the price but it's wrong. Then another employee rung me up for the higher price and they seemed to have a moment on conflict. Bad vibes. Definitely try Child's Play or Kinder Haus Toys for kid friendly prices. Don't support scalpers! read more

Fun store with a wide range of toys for all ages alike. A lot of unique items and always carrying the newest and hottest trends. I visited with my cousins and we all were surprised at how many "smiski" related items they carry and also at a reasonable fair price! What a cute little independent toy store on the main drag in Falls Church City! I've walked past Doodlehopper a millions times but finally stopped in recently. It's absolutely jam packed with a well curated selection of toys for all kinds. There are baby toys, dolls, dinosaurs, food, robots, and more. Some nicer brands--like Melissa and Doug--that you'll see at big box stores, but also plenty of items that I'd never seen before. The toys appeared to be high quality and designed to encourage creative play, which can be difficult in a world that's oversaturated with screen time. My kid had a great time exploring the store and selecting a toy to bring home (one that didn't break the bank, by the way). I will definitely come back to Doodlehopper when I'm looking for another little gift or toy. read more

We wanted to check this place out to see if they had anything unique for our 4 month old. It's a mixture of unique knickknacks and items that you might be able to find at Target or Amazon. The prices are a little higher than you'd find elsewhere, but it comes with buying local. We did like some of the young infant stuff in the back left corner of the store, and bought a toy for our daughter. However, having such a tiny baby, we brought her in the stroller. There was hardly any room to navigate the store with the stroller, and I found myself tilting the stroller or being at the mercy of other parents to let me squeeze past and take up the entire aisle. I wouldn't be opposed to returning for the sake of supporting a small business, but because it's hard to bring my daughter there, that's probably what keeps me from coming back more often? read more

I love this store. Discovered one in Staunton VA last fall and was delighted - a real toy store! Didn't know they existed anymore. So recently when I needed to get bday presents for a couple of little girls and discovered a Doodlehopper in Falls Church I went straight there. I had high expectations after my Staunton Doodlehopper experience, and I was not disappointed. An employee showed me different things in the toy area I was interested in, and even spoke about which was her favorite. Then, they wrapped the presents and sent me on my way. All of the employees were friendly and eager to help (not pushy). Highly recommend this store. Bonus: convenient parking behind the store. Also, located in downtown Falls Church, so plenty of restaurants around if you work up an appetite with your Doodlehopper shopping. Forgot to mention - amazing prices! This has been and continues to be a great local toy shop for all ages. The prices are at-market. Some items are a bit less than what I've seen at Target or even on Amazon, some are a bit higher. They have a nice customer loyalty program where you can earn points toward a $10 store credit for every purchase. These credits do not expire. Gift wrapping is free with two wrapping paper options to choose from, gift receipt options and no limit to how many presents they will wrap. Customer service is great but the staff isn't pushy, which I appreciate, especially when shopping with my kids in tow (they don't need to be "sold" on anything and would buy the whole store if I'd let them). I've always been greeted when entering and staff has always been available to answer questions and/or offer assistance whenever needed. It's a very kid-friendly place. The store is packed to the gills, so some aisles are narrow but walking little ones will love wandering through the maze of toys and games from floor to ceiling. Like a previous poster said, I like to support small businesses but not at the expense of my health or my children's health...which is precisely WHY we shop at Doodlehopper even more during this time. Having small children ineligible for vaccination, it's a relief to take them into a store that requires that all patrons wear a mask. The staff also went out of their way to assist in helping me find a gift via phone when their store wasn't open for browsing last year. It was wrapped and ready at curbside the same day. It's reassuring to see that Doodlehopper is taking actions to demonstrate their concern for the well-being of the children, parents and other shoppers that patronize their wonderful store. i love this (not-so-little) toy store in falls church! it is deceivingly large and has everything you can think of for kids. my son was in heaven when we visited. i really appreciated how the store was organized by age. i was able to pick up something for my little one as well as a playmobile toy (which is actually really hard to find) for my son. the staff was super helpful too. i was going to a birthday party the following weekend and decided that i might as well get those gifts as well. they were able to help me pick a perfect gift for the age/gender and within my budget. i love supporting local businesses and thanks for for being stocked with all of the goodies! read more

Once, when I was looking for a particular Hello Kitty item that was no longer carried, a staff member called all the Sanrio stores in the area for me! I'm a recent grandmother and want to support local businesses. I have been to Doodlehopper on several occasions and have never had a clerk say hello or offer to help me. I left today because I could not get any help. Two clerks were understandably receiving UPS packages but a paying customer should be more important than receiving shipments. In addition boxes were piled up by the back door making it difficult to see toys by the back door. I was also doing early holiday shopping on Halloween when 4 clerks were behind the desk engrossed in their private conversations. That day I also left due to no assistance. Doodlehopper is the answer to gift givers who don't want to give their recipient the same boring Fisher Price item or a meaningless and mediocre action figure. Doodlehopper is for shoppers who want to give their little man or woman something educational yet delightful. The Falls Church branch has a separate store for infants and toddlers and one for older kids. Both suites are brimming with goodies. Whether the boy or girl likes plush toys, action figures, puzzles, airplanes, dinosaurs, sand, or math, there is something here for him or her. What differentiates Doodlehopper from other stores is that the toys are all very well thought out and usually teach the kid something. The mainstream options just aren't as fun. The staff at the sister stores are all friendly and helpful. They know the stores' merchandise well and can always provide a few awesome recommendations. Furthermore, they are all happy to wrap your gift item. How cool is that? Definitely helps when you're pressed on time or your wrapping skills need some help (yes to both for me). When I go to the toy departments at larger stores like Target and the like, I start to get a little depressed that all the make believe toys of my youth have been replaced by Frozen costumes and Pokemon action figures. Doodlehopper gives me hope that there are still good toys out there that aren't of the licensed and electronic variety. Don't get me wrong, they have toys of every type including electronic toys, but the selection is what makes this place nice. The store is in two parts: one for babies and toddlers and the other for older children. The toys go from birth to preteen. The prices are high. There are 2 Doodlehopper stores in this location: 1 for babies and one for older children. It has saved me many times for last minute birthday gifting, including free gift wrap and wrapping (although 1 time, the person who wrapped my present did a horrible job and I had to literally rewrap it after the girl handed it to me). I think the prices are a little high, but they never disappoint for the recipient nor the recipient's parents and are often unique. When unsure what to get, a gift card here will surely please! Just keep in mind that this is one of 2 locations in Northern VA, so your recipient may have a distance to trek for returns/exchanges or to use their gift card. That said, they will probably appreciate learning of the place and/or enjoy the visit anyways. :) read more

I will never buy toys at Toys R Us Hell or Target again. This is the go-to for birthday gifts, as they always know what to recommend for different age groups/genders and clearly enjoy playing with/sampling the awesome selection of toys. They also have lots of inexpensively priced "treat" gifts (erasers, Hello Kitty baubles, note pads, bouncy balls) for important days such as the critical "Flu Shot Bribe" or "Flying-to-California-Solo-And-Need-Well-Timed-Distractions." The parking lot in back is a huge help, and you can could on them knowing what merchandise is available at the "baby" or "big kid" stores if you have something specific in mind. The -1 star isn't a huge deterrent...just want to recommend that they spend more time training their cash register staff. Also, gift wrapping in the "big kid" store has always been quick and painless (and free!) For "baby" store gifts, it seems to take 3x as long and the wrapping is rumpled/sloppy. I don't have kids so I only go shopping for gifts around the holidays. Sure you can buy them something from Target or Walmart but this place has a lot better stuff. Yeah the prices are a little high but its worth it , eco-friendly toys , soy based inks , STEM Toys and the regular LEGOs , puzzles stuffed animals. This really is the only toy store i will shop at to make sure i'm not going to be giving the same gift as some one else. Staff is helpful and knowledge and the wrap for free which is great cause i'm all thumbs when it comes it! Awesome toy store - the kind you remember from your childhood. This place is to Toys R Us what the Ritz is to Holiday Inn. The staff really know their stuff and have great gift suggestions. The wrapping is free and the quality of the toys is top notch. If you want something not there, they'll order it for you, but chances are you won't be able to come away empty handed. If you want Target or Walmart prices do not go there looking for a toy. BUT if you want THE COOLEST ideas and gifts around go there. I have heard about them for years and years living in Falls Church and finally having had a baby recently decided I should go in and see what this toy store was all about. On my first and only visit there yet I was greeted and told about the store by the staff member who was helping on the floor. She was quick to ask me if I had been there before. I told her no and that I had just had a baby, she congratulated me and proceeded to take me all over the store to show me all the cool stuff. They have all those cute cool toys or little sweet things you can't find just anywhere. They had cool inventions and make easier things that I had never seen before. They had aged sections so you knew if it was appropriate for that age or not. They had cute board books and funny kids books I haven't found anywhere else. I don't love this store. I tried, but we now always go to Child's Play in McLean or Arlington instead. The staff are fine, but one of my main complaints is when it comes to gift wrapping. They have a strict policy of only wrapping one gift, and will try to make you feel like they are moving mountains to make an exception to wrap two, no matter how many gifts you are buying. I've gone into the store to get gifts for several parties at once, and also twins, and had them refuse to wrap more than two presents. This made it so I had to buy bags on the way to the parties in order to get the presents wrapped. At Child's Play, they will happily wrap anything you buy, and I was expecting the same sort of service at Doodlehopper. Silly me. This, combined with a better selection and more helpful staff at CP keeps me away from Doodlehopper. I wish I could support them, but their service just isn't as good as their competitor. When we are choosing to support small businesses instead of going to Amazon or Target, it's the customer service that keeps us coming back, and it's simply better elsewhere. read more

If you have children, this is as good as it gets. Sure, you can buy loads of kids' toys at big box stores, but nowhere can you get this type of service. Everyone seems to be a child play specialist. Everything in the store is easy to find, but if you need help, that is where they really shine. I was looking for a gift for an eight year old girl for an upcoming birthday. Not knowing what to get her, I asked a sales person. She walked me through many different choices, not just related to price but related to the child's interests. Wow. I was not prepared for that.
