In short he was struggling and began acting out in a number of ways. Ways not typical of who he is and was as a person. We identified this through some very apparent, key events that took place in his life. In briefing, our son was headed toward a path of disaster and laced with confusion, frustration, betrayal, trust & love issues and you name it. All while his body is physically morphing into manhood. He was a mess. We were afraid for his future and became a mess with him. His mother would sob at night. We felt bad for him but also knew if we didn't help him find his path it could be disastrous for his future. A lot of people thought he was dark or hopeless but those who knew him closely, knew he was a special human loaded with potential and greatness. It just needed to be harnessed. That's when we connected with Ben Murphy, one of the best things that ever happened for our family. Our son has been seeing Ben regularly for over a year and couldn't be better. I mean a complete turn around. I think it took a few months before actually noticing real difference in attitude and his increased optimism with life in general. (Without ANY medications or drugs) our son genuinely was able to work through some key issues he was having because of Ben's work. I highly recommend Ben Murphy for any family counseling needs, specifically troubled youth or youth issues, he was an answer to prayer. Also just a solid human being in general who is the real deal. We have had our son continue to see him weekly for over a year and he actually looks forward to their weekly meeting. Ben has become a safe place and from our sons words, keeps him accountable and encourages him to do great things with his life. If you are having any issues with your child or in a season where you just need help. Someone to help you get through whatever it is, someone who is safe and genuinely cares, but also no BS, don't even hesitate to schedule with Ben Murphy. Hands down the best counselor I've ever met and he provided incredible results for our family beyond what we believed even possible. Our son did the work, but Ben laid down the framework and template for him and most importantly by authentically caring and loving on him he created a bond of trust so that they could take the journey together. Even though we feel like our son is on the right path and doing great we are continuing our commitment to having him meet regularly with Ben as we believe it has changed his life. We are beyond forever grateful and would encourage anyone looking for a safe, professional that genuinely cares about people to connect with Ben without hesitation. He's the real deal.

When the…read morecounseling ended, I actually believed it had been helpful, because I had come to believe that our marital problems were almost entirely my fault. However, over the following year, I gradually realized that our marriage had not meaningfully improved despite the counseling. One of the strongest messages I took away from the sessions was that my family of origin and my relationship with my parents were the primary causes of our marital problems. This did not only lead me to feel guilty and blame myself; it also caused me to blame my family and my parents. The emotional impact became so significant that I eventually sought individual therapy to work through those feelings. I believe Estee genuinely wanted to help us, and I do not question her intentions. However, her approach was not effective for me and maybe someone else has similar background like me. If you come from an East Asian family and place great importance on your relationship with your parents and family of origin, I would encourage you to consider carefully whether this counseling approach is the right fit for you. Different therapists have different perspectives, and this particular approach was not a good match for my background or my needs. Finally, I respectfully ask that Estee not contact me regarding this review. I have worked hard to recover from the guilt, self-blame, and family-related conflict that I experienced after counseling, and I do not wish to revisit those feelings through further discussion.

I say this both from my personal experience and from the perspective of someone who works in a related field and understands how rare genuine compassion and true skill can be when combined. Helene embodies both. She is not only caring, but deeply intuitive -- the kind of person who doesn't simply listen to your words, but understands what sits beneath them. She goes above and beyond for those she helps, meeting each person exactly where they are, without judgment or pretense. Her professional background is extensive and her knowledge evident, yet she leads with empathy before expertise -- and that balance is what makes her remarkable. Her office is a reflection of her spirit: calm, grounded, and safe. It is a space where vulnerability feels possible and healing begins quietly, sometimes even before a word is spoken. Helene doesn't just provide support; she helps you find tools, insight, and strength within yourself. She guides you through the hard work of change with patience and clarity. Because of her, I've experienced measurable growth -- in my own self-awareness, in how I handle challenges, and most importantly, in the renewed and healthier relationships I now have with my child and my husband. I will always be grateful for her presence, her wisdom, and the kindness that defines every moment spent in her care. Thank you Helene.
