    Chicken pakora and aloo tikki
    Phalgun K.

We were in the area and this place had been on our list for a while so we thought of giving it a try, and ended up having a good meal at Bukhara grill on a summer Sunday afternoon. The place was not busy, so we got a nice table with white tablecloths and good cutlery. The restaurant was well air-conditioned and had light instrumental music playing in the background. I recognized some of KK's songs and felt nostalgic. The service was excellent, even though there was only one server. He was friendly and quick, and gave us good recommendations. We ordered the summerlicious menus, which had a lot of variety and value. The food was delicious and satisfying. We started with aloo tikki and chicken pakora, which were simple and crunchy respectively. The main courses were madras lamb and paneer makhani, both of which had great gravy and flavor. The lamb was well cooked and tender, and the paneer was slightly sweet but very palatable. The naan was soft and nice to eat with the curries. For dessert, we had rasamalai and mango ice cream. The rasamalai was yum, and the mango ice cream was more like kulfi and worth trying. It was a perfect way to end our meal. We loved the experience and will definitely come again. The only minor drawback was that the place is in a basement, so the entry seemed slightly confusing and there was no natural lighting. But once we got inside, it was relaxing and cozy. The walls had pretty photos and a nice decor that added to the ambiance. Bukhara grill is a good place in Bloor West that serves authentic and tasty Indian food. I recommend for a pleasant dining experience.

We visited this restaurant and I was blown away with the ambiance and quality of the food. All of the dishes we ordered were made both gluten and dairy free and the prices were amazing. For under $40 pre-tax and tip, we got an appetizer, two entrées and a side of rice. THE FOOD: Chicken Pakara Appetizer: - We ordered the chicken pakara appetizer, which are chicken fritters battered with Indian herbs, spices and chickpea flour. This dish was fantastic and it allowed me to enjoy a fried chicken style of dish that was gluten free (something I usually cannot enjoy at restaurants). I like how they used chickpea flower, which adds protein, makes the dish gf and a healthier version of battered chicken. The chicken was juicy and tender. It also came with two sauces, which were delightful. One was similar to a chimichurri sauce and the other was sweet and savoury. Together the sauces blended to create an amazing tasting experience. Navratan Korma: This dish was fantastic. The dish was made with coconut milk to be dairy free and it was fantastic. The flavours were exquisite and it was a combination of mixed vegetables with a mild cashew sauce. I would also definitely consider getting the cashew chicken dish next time because the flavours were so good. Saag Chicken: This dish was really good. It was saucy and a great addition to our meal. The chicken was cooked with garlic, onion, green chillies and spinach. It was a little bit spicy but it wasn't too hot where we couldn't eat it. I would definitely order this again. THE ENTRANCE: The entrance is difficult to find (it's an unlit entrance next to another store or restaurant) and looks a little shady but you walk down the stairs into a beautiful space filled with elegant tables and beautiful artwork of different landmarks in India. THE SERVICE & AMBIANCE: The service was quite slow but the ambiance was perfect for a fancy and affordable date night. Each table had white linens and was set up the way you would expect a fancy restaurant to be set up. The employees were care a lot about the business and kept asking us if we enjoyed the food. I could really tell the quality of the food was really important to them. Would we return? Absolutely!

Pander tikka tandoori. Super generous in paneer portion size

Coming from scarborough/ markham, my fiance and I were scared to not have good indian food in our area. Fortunately we found bhukara through a random yelp search when we first moved into our house. Located right on bloor is this underground (literally) indian restaurant. It is difficult to find at first glance since it's only a single walkway down to the basement but once you are in you can't really get lost. We've dined in twice and ordered take out many times. The last time we dined in we got the panner tikka tandorri and also got the green chicken (tandorri). Both came out hot and delicious. Portion size were fair as the chicken we got about 5 big chicken breast and panner we had 5 big slices. The flavours were bang on and was so delicious when hot. The only down fall to this dish is I wished they served it on a sizzling plate instead of a regular plate. For mains we usually get their butter chicken (spicy) and palak panner. Both are very good dishes and we never are disappointed with them! We've also had their aloo golbi and that is also really good and have a good spice to it as well. Garlic nan and butter nan comes to your table piping hot and leave you wanting more and more once it's done! Pricing for this is also fair (1.99/2.99) Overall Buhkra grill is our go to indian resto in our neighbourhood. Just wished they delivered to us!

First review of a restaurant in the area . Ambiance is amazing , full of character and good crowd . Not too busy but still took them 40 mins to bring out the food . Paneer bukhara tasted really good and daal makhni as usual . Pudina parantha tasted amazing and crunchy

What sets the Bloor location apart from their Mississauga location is the SERVICE! Man who seated and served us was very kind and gentle. Since this restaurant is newer, it's also a more dim, white table cloth, cavernous atmosphere with a lot of wood beams. Food is more or less the same as the Burnhamthorpe location. Except Bloor does not have a lunch buffet. :( I frequent the Burnhamthorpe location and 1 particular waiter there isn't the most friendliest - at least not to me. I don't know why. So when he serves me, I don't feel as welcomed as the other staff. Another difference is that the Bloor location is slightly more expensive. With certain dishes rice/naan is not included, so you end up paying a few dollars more. However, sometimes it is worth it to enjoy your dining experience and be treated nicely, as opposed to complete indifference!

    Complementary crunchy snacks... :)

The definition of a hidden gem, Bukhara Grill is located in the Bloor West Village, its entrance tucked beside a Pizza Pizza. Ambiance: Beautifully decorated, with white table clothes and white napkins neatly folded on the the table. Very classy, and more formal than I had expected. Service: One thing that made the experience outstanding was the attentive service. There was a fresh hot towel provided at the beginning of the meal, and never have I ever had my glass of water refilled so many times! The waiters and servers are all very polite and gave helpful recommendations for what to order. Food: All of the food was fresh, flavourful and delicious. I shared a basket of naan, garlic rice, Chicken Jalfrezi (chicken cooked with ginger, garlic, onion and capsicum *the orange dish*) and Saag Chicken (chicken cooked with garlic, onion, green chillies and spinach *the green dish*). I particularly enjoyed the chicken jalfezi, as it seemed spicier than the saag chicken. I will be back for more!

Food is really good but service is slow! Don't come here if you're in a rush, but the Indian food is tasty once it comes.

It said established in 1919, so we thought it's a good sign it's been in business over a century; although not this location specifically. Their history in the 20th century was that they started in Berlin, Germany in 1919, but they were a Jewish family who ended up immgrating to Israel in 1933, opening their store there, and expanded locations throughout Israel. Their history in Toronto & North America (including some in the US) is much more recent since opening in 2017. Unfortunately, my closest is New York City; none in Maryland or DC area. This location is in busy downtown Toronto. We sat outside on their big patio area as the weather was warm and could enjoy the view of the buildings, people, cars, etc. Server was friendly answering our questions. I ended up getting an egg benedict with salmon in a croissant. It was creative and delicious take on egg benedict. The only issue was it was messy to eat in the croissant, but I didn't care as it was so delicious. My girlfriend got a Belgian waffle with blueberries, whipped cream, etc. It was unique and very good & sweet too as I tried a bite. Overall, this was a 5-star experience with great food, service, & atmosphere.

Service: It was not great. We sat for a while and no one took attention (we were outside and they were busy but no excuse for them -- they should do better). We had folks come in and out and were somewhat nonchalant and not attentive. Food: This was the great part of the experience. - Berries and Granola with Greek Yogurt: My brother in law got this an he devoured it and said it was great. - Farmers Breakfast: My wife got this and she LOVED it. She went back to get their Halwah Latte (which she said was just OK) - Egg white Omlette Skillet: I customized my food and it was good -- for reference I've had better only because the cheese was feta and it was unclear that this was the only option as I don't love feta. Also I'm pretty sure while I asked for egg whites there was normal egg (i.e., eggs). If you order egg white make sure the server hears you. They screwed this up for me. This is why I'm giving it three stars -- I could have made a stink but didn't think it was necessary to do so. All in all -- I'd recommend this spot to folks but don't go there thinking the service will be great.

We ordered medium spicy for the papaya salad and it only had a slight kick. I wished the salad portion was more as it was gone pretty quickly. It comes with shrimp chips, pork rinds, and 2 small bundles of rice noodles. The dried shrimp in the salad was very chewy though, which made it a bit less enjoyable. I ended up picking them all out. We ordered spicy for the pad gra prow but it wasn't spicy at all. I think you can ask for the Thai chilis/ Thai chili fish sauce thing on the side but we decided we were fine with no spicy. Unfortunately the crispy pork was not crispy at all and was also very chewy. Overall it was still delicious! The Khao soi mightve honestly been the least favorite, but it was still good. It is on the sweeter side. The egg noodles were cooked al dente and had a nice chew. Sometimes when I get Khao soi it ends up being too heavy or creamy, but the curry for this one was thinner and easy to eat. The shrimp was the best part - super fresh and bouncy. In the end I thought the portions and quality were good. The service was also super nice, and it was impressive to see our waitress cover so many tables. The restrooms were also clean.

You get to experience a range of flavors and techniques, though the dishes lean more toward tasting portions than filling plates. We left a bit hungry, and the pricing felt high for the amount of food. The best way to think of it is as investing in edible art--beautiful, expressive, and memorable, though not necessarily hearty.
