Just a regular dive bar. Stopped in for a snack, poutine was surprisingly tasty, everything else felt a bit flat.

This is one dive that you should definitely visit. I discovered this place the first time I visited Boston and have returned every time I have been in Boston. All my friends who accompanied me really enjoyed their time here. I am sorry I did not post this review sooner. During my most recent trip, I took a friend to this establishment, and she really enjoyed the experience and we returned to enjoy the experience. They have an extensive beer selection and good food. Beware, cash only, no credit cards. You will love the humor on the menus (if not, you are in the wrong place). This is not the place for people who take themselves too seriously. read more

Couldn't even get in. Guy outside say they don't take foreign id's (I had my Canadian drivers license), I asked to speak with someone and she said the same thing. If you like beer this is the place for you. I have not ordered a beer that they didn't have in all the 5 years I have been going there. You show check it out. It's tiny and the music is a bit loud but still a great watering hole. Make sure you bring your cash because that's all they accept. read more

A decent stopover if you're in the area for a burger and brew. Kind of a throwback old man bar with random dudes downing pints on a Tuesday lunch hour but parlayed with the hipster feel (stickers all over the place, street signs, Arcade Fire on the soundsystem, etc.) Had an inexpensive and decent burger and the bartender was attentive. I'd stop by for a few brews if I was meeting up with friends or just walking about. read more

Everyone keeps saying dive bar but the prices are certainly not of that setting and honeslty it is a bit too clean to call it a dive bar. So I will stick with a Rock Solid Beer Bar, Beers for just about any taste good mix, do not ask for a frozen daquari (this is an assumption not an experience), with friendly staff and very good bar food. The Hangover Helper burger was 100% unbelievably amazing. This is a great place to go midday on a weekend to grab a beer (from their very fine rotating selection of craft beers!) and a bite to eat. I am wishing I had the burger right now to be honest. The rest of the food was also great. My girlfriend and I loved this place so much, that we decided to back there another weekend night to have some drinks. That time we went, the place was packed out the door and we couldn't get in. We aren't the biggest fans of places where you can barely move, so we left. If it was possible to have a casual drink here at night without feeling like you were surrounded by college kids, then it would easily be 5 stars. I'm giving it 4 stars because it can get annoyingly crowded and it's cash only. Though, if you're walking by and it's pretty calm inside, absolutely check it out as it's awesome. read more

This is a great bar, just a fun and unique place to hang out. They have a ton of beer and always local stuff on tap which is neat. The food I've ordered has been awesome too, you have to try the buffalo bites, they're ridiculous. I've also ordered a BLT and a burger there before and both have been excellent. The service is kind of hit or miss, but you don't even care because the beer is so good and you're having a great time. Also it's a little steep price wise and cash only. This was my first visit to the Downtown location. Not as extensive a selection of draft brews as the Inman Square Buk's, but still enjoyable. And, not being anything like the bar's namesake, there are only so many beers I can enjoy at one sitting anyway! Friendly and prompt bartenders, convenient location, and reasonable prices. Good draft beer selection and chill music. Only 2 TVs. The Beer battered banana bell pepper boat is amazing (but only a special). The house made turkey burger was excellent but filling! I couldn't eat it all. It is cash only but totally worth a trip to the atm. read more

An absolutely adequate, unpretentious, and reasonably priced dive bar. It was small but not crowded, and the food was fine. The kitchen is open until forever, which gives it a definite edge. Just make sure you have cash, otherwise be ready to pay the $4 ATM fee which will give you a heartburn. read more

We occasionally visited this bar and had a horrible experience today. The music was too loud to hear any voice, and a young male bartender said F-words to us (around 11pm), thinking that we couldn't hear because we don't speak English. We never expected to experience such racism in Back Bay. The poutine tats were cold and overpriced. We will never return to this bar, and there are so many great places nearby with better food and no racists. read more

I have never"Yelped" in my life. It was so bad, I felt it deserved a moment. The "service", or lack thereof, was only exceeded by the awful music. The one person out of 20 that actually enjoyed the music was the bartender. The early shift was exactly the same. They act like they are doing you a favor to serve you, do yourself a favor, don't bother showing up. If you are looking for a quality tap list in the Fenway/Back Bay area, then grab a seat at Bukowski Tavern. Divey by design and unapologetic, this place is in a great location to just slip away in the middle of it all and enjoy a good beer. No, they don't accept anything but cash (ATM on site) and they don't have a full bar, but that's just how they roll. Don't come here expecting a good place to watch the game as they are minimalists when it comes to the TV situation, but they do have a decent little menu to keep you fueled between pints. And after you've enjoyed a couple brews, they will gladly point you in the direction of some other places in town that have quality beers on tap. read more

I've been to alot of bars in my day and this place is my number one. I'm all about the wheel of beer...if you take too long to decide what poison to order the bartender spins the wheel and decides for you, which is funny considering some of those ales are quite expensive. I have no idea why this bar is located where it is but I'm damn thankful that it is. I'm staying near the Hynes Convention Center and there are very few bars in the area that I would ever want to go to. Bukowski is the exception. I've read some of the reviews about the noise and rude staff but I did not experience that at all. Definitely a great low-key hangout in an otherwise expensive, full-of-dickbags kind of area. When I lived in Boston I was a regular here. Awesome beers, great music, and a badass staff. Bring cash and don't be a jackass when you can't get a mixed drink here or you try to pay with a credit card and you're told it's cash only, there are signs posted everywhere; if you want to see and be seen go to Dillon's (or somewhere) across the street, if you want to have a good time with awesome people come here. This is an excellent bar with a massive range of beers. Good food and friendly staff. I shall go back. If you can drink one of each of their 130 or so beers they give you a beer mug. You don't need to do it in one night but you do need to do it within six months. read more

My girlfriend and I came to eat here on a whim and we were pleasantly surprised! She had the yak burger and she said it was the best burger she's ever had. My burger was delicious and not too big that I could finish all of it. I complemented it well with a single cut IPA and I was in heaven. I love the creative and profound nature of this place.
