I Love Woody's. I spent a fair amount of time drinking and eating pizza at Woody's with my friend Zoe in my 20's. Usually followed up with several hours at the Otherside Cosmic Cafe (Rest in Peace). I've had birthday and celebration dinners here, and have a long history here.... but I hadn't been here in 4 or 5 years. It was SO GOOD TO BE BACK This was the first place I ever saw and fell in love with salad on a pizza. And that was what I needed most to revisit. The Grecian pizza. kalamata olives, tomatoes and covered in arugula and dressing. I would never have thought to top my pizza with arugula after cooking, but it is truly amazing. They also have truly wonderful Fig and Pig pizza. All of the hearth fired pizza's are great. They have a crust that is pleasantly crispy but still feels like bread. The beer draft roster is as good as ever. It's not big, but the selection is always good. This time I had a Burlington Beer Co. pale ale. Delicious! The only thing that's a pain in the winter is if the curtain isn't closed by the door a draft will come in and you will be cold. I've never had a bad server at woody's or a bad experience - except when it was too busy to get in. I just have major nostalgia - it was exactly the way I remembered it being 10 years ago when we were there several times a month. Thanks Woody's! read more

Now this is a great, neighborhood bar and hangout. -good craft beer selection on tap and in the frigid. They had my favorite Fiddlehead IPA and an Exhibit A IPA on tap. Prices were reasonable for being so close to Fenway park. -Friendly staff and good service. - good spacing to sit for drop-ins or groups of 2-8. - good place to watch the Sox play. Note they only sell beer and wines: they don't do hard liquor. read more

Ordered a large pie within minutes of sitting down. Two more tables of two people each came on after we ordered. They both got their pizzas before we did. Our waitress said nothing until I asked what was taking so long. She was apologetic but that's about it. Same thing happened a year ago but in that case they gave us some fries to hold us over. The food was amazing, the service with our waiter, Gavin was fabulous ! He was so attentive, kind, very informative. Woody's is very lucky to have him as an employee. He is a student at Harvard. A great neighborhood bar that's always busy but accommodating for your party. Great beers on tap, a lot of regulars that are friendly when you are chatty but will let you enjoy your meal in peace if you're just there for a quick bite & beer. My favorite pizza is the kitchen sink - has your meats & veggies, weird to say it but my favorite topping of the pizza is the green bell peppers - adds a nice crunch to each bite. The sausage is a close second. Wings are pretty good as well. Worth checking out for a quick bite or some community fun. read more

The bartender, who's name was Hunter I believe, came by our table and (after some hearty laughter) recommended me one of the best lagers I've had in my life- it reminded me of my first beer on land after a tour at sea. The service was also lightning quick, we had a kind young woman named Cambria who was incredibly attentive to our needs. I'll go back every night. read more

Honestly such a hidden gem when it comes to pizza in Boston - this place is an excellent local option that has great pizza and also a good wine & beer selection! Their garlic pizza is seriously delicious as is their buffalo chicken pizza. We also really like the veggie pizza - the only one I didn't like was the eggplant pizza. Came to this bar on a Saturday night. Seated promptly. Large distance between each table so covid safety protocols were well regarded. Over all good pizza and beer. The server was a little pushy, but also a little awkward and maybe the two are tied together. Overall good experience... I was mostly paying attention to my company but the pizza was good and other than the one comment about the server everything else was solid. Will be heading back at some point. read more

Based on Yelp reviews, we chose this place near Northeastern's campus for dinner after move in. I ordered an appetizer of polenta with wild mushrooms, blistered grape tomatoes and asparagus. I had them put grilled salmon on it, and the combo was fabulous. My only wish was that the polenta had been loose versus fried patties. Son had a burger, and raved about the meat quality. This place is great! The pizza dough has a great taste and the wood fire gives it good character to the taste. The pizza is thin, but can still hold its shape/ hold the toppings which is important. Listen, you don't want a pizza where the toppings sag near the tip, that would be gross. This place does a good job on the bake to prevent this. Toppings are good and have good ratios. I hope they can get a better online presence, like online carry-out or something of that nature, since their uber page wont allow it at the moment. Lots of pizza options, but this is definitely a tastier/cleaner option than most in the area. read more

Customer service I dined in at Woodys and was delighted by the atmosphere- great waiter, attentive, personable and efficient! The manager (or maybe owner?) was sitting at the bar, but often would get up to check in on customers or to help his employees. I also enjoyed the art on the walls made my local artists. I was incredibly tempted to buy this one owl piece. I love tha It's pretty rare for an establishment to earn 5 stars from me, perhaps I'm a bit too picky but Woody's deserves every star! read more

Brendan and Becca: Had a good friend come into town and we were looking for a casual place for burgers, pizza, and beer in Fenway. Came across Woody's in our search and it was a great find. We had seen a picture of the buffalo wings online and they looked delicious so we gave them a try. The picture did not lie. The wings were phenomenal! Not sure how they were cooked, but they weren't overly crispy and dry like some bar buffalo wings can be. Instead, they were perfectly crisp while still being deliciously juicy like a rotisserie chicken. We also had the brussels sprouts which came in a balsamic vinegar-based sauce. We all love brussels sprouts and balsamic vinegar, but agreed that the dish could have been an executed better. Still enjoyable, but were definitely the low point of our meal. For dinner we all split the Kitchen Sink and Chicken Caesar Salad pizzas. Both pizzas were extremely well-executed. The crust managed to stay crispy even despite all of the juicy toppings and sauces loaded onto them. The beer selection was large with a variety of local brewery and commercial domestic beer options. Serving sizes were large and the prices were more than reasonable. Despite being three big eaters, we could not finish all of the food and had to get some packed up to go. In our classic style, we left the to go bag on the table. We enjoyed the atmosphere. The restaurant has a dive bar feel and is pretty dimly lit to match that vibe. It was decently busy while we were there with local customers sitting at the bar and waves of the baseball crowd after a game. Despite the hustle and bustle of the night, our waitress was super attentive and the service was quick. Overall, we will definitely recommend Woody's as a good casual go to if you're in the neighborhood. read more

Okay, so Woody's has changed quite a bit since I've been here back during college and post college years circa 2006-2008ish. Three of us girls shared the calamari, and it was meh. The calamari was a little cold as we were eating it and slightly rubbery. Beer was slightly warm as it was brought to our table, as Eunice E pointed out. Pizza looked delicious as Eunice E and Andrea B ordered the buffalo chicken and Jamaican jerk pizzas respectively. I can't have dairy, and I think it's just sacrilegious to get pizza without cheese. I opted for the turkey burger which wasn't too bad. Could have used some pickles or something to bulk it up a little, but it was okay. Fries were crispy and hot though. Movin on to dessert. I ordered the chocolate cake. It was extremely bland with no taste. It also wasn't sweet at all, which was odd considering its a chocolate cake. So weird. I have a Lindt sea salt chocolate bar at home...it's ALL mine to replace the bland cake. Maybe I'll share with Josh. Maybe. Hehe... Service was okay. We were seated right away and then we ordered drinks and whatnot. As the evening progressed, service got slower and slower though. Kudos to the space heater in the ladies room though. :) read more

Came upon woody's years ago by accident and been an occasional repeat visitor- now that I'm not living in Boston - but this is one of those places you look forward to stopping in to . We were at the MFA on a Friday early evening for the Turner exhibit and some other stuff . When our stomachs started rumbling we knew it was time for the 4-5 minute walk - go from the rear of the museum - and glad we did. First - wish we'd gotten the waiters name - he's really good ! Water on the table just as we were sitting - he's a black guy with a friendly demeanor . If the owners read this - give that guy a raise !! What a beer list . Great craft selection! I had a couple of Fiddleheads which I wasn't familiar with ( he offered me a sample which sold me )... We loved eggplant on pizza but not everybody ( there's not many that even offer it!) gets it right - this is crispy squares. Perfecto . Anchovies ?! Yes please ! A white clam pizza ? Oh, my. My Dad loved the fresh fish. The pizza was great. Opt out of the pastas...not super great. They were nice enough to comp my pasta meal though since I didn't eat it. This is a place for locals close to Fenway Park. Not the cleanest, but expected for a trendy college town. It's atmosphere is casual, a lil dark with wooden tables inside. Great pizza, convenient location, friendly crowd. What else could you want? We stopped in for a rainy evening dinner. There was no wait at 6:30. We all opted for custom pizzas after splitting an appetizer of wings. The wings were great. They had just the right crispy enough though they could have been more spicy. The pizzas were really good. It had been about 20 years since I had been in Boston- so I decided to walk around my old neighborhood. I asked a mailman where he recommended grabbing a quick lunch and he suggested this place. I could tell it was a neighborhood favorite, with many regular customers. It had a nice casual vibe. Everyone at the bar ordered pizzas, so I followed suit, and went with this mushroom lovers pizza that was really really good. Bartenders were friendly, as were the fellow patrons. Hit woodys prior to a concert at Fenway. It's a bit off the beaten path so not as busy as the restaurants along Boylston St or Mass Ave. it definitely has a locals vibe. The pizza ordered was tasty but undercooked. The steak tip salad was good as well as the Buffalo wings. I ordered a beer but the wrong one was delivered, the waitress noticed her mistake and tried to correct it but still brought the wrong beer. It wasn't worth trying to correct it again. Unfortunately we found this place on our last night visiting Boston. We had spent the day exploring the city, and were just looking for a snack, so we ordered a small pepperoni pizza. We were 2 bites in, and realized we should have ordered a large. Great crust (probably homemade), 4 cheese and sauce. Woody's is the closest thing to the Cheers bar I've ever been. If you're a regular, everybody knows your name, your sexual history, and every embarrassing thing you've ever done in your entire life. They are closer than family in most functionally relevant ways. I think it says something special about the people who work here, who take the time to get to know their customers and create such an strong community among them. It certainly doesn't happen by accident. For example, after the bombing, the owners held a fundraiser and raised thousands of dollars for the victims' families. It's not trendy or fancy, and the food and drinks aren't spectacular, but it's the kind of place that makes me feel warm fuzzies about Boston. It's also probably the only bar I've been to where 1) they remember who I am the next time I go there, and 2) they don't just vaguely remember who I am because I'm the only Asian who's stepped foot inside since they finished building the transcontinental railroad. Besides, a place called Woody's that decorates it's walls with paintings of roosters? That's awesome. read more
