I've been to Slade's a few times, but this was my mom's 1st time dining here. Since then, she has done takeout twice! I know how busy they can get so I decided to come in around 3pm before the rush. Our waitress was kind and helpful. I ordered their fried chicken wing dinner with the sides: mac & cheese and black-eyed peas & rice. My mother ordered their rib dinner with the sides: potato salad and collard greens. Everything came out hot and fresh. I never tried their ribs, potato salad, and black-eyed peas & rice until now and I am blown away! We will be back to order more items off the menu!

    Burnt whiting

I ordered the whiting dinner with yams and collards. This is the third and last time supporting this bar & grill. The first time they put wings instead of whiting in my order. The second time, everything was excellent - hot, flaky whiting . Tonight's meal was inedible!! The whiting was burnt, fried so much the inside was burnt brown - snapped in two. Disgusting. How they could send this out of their kitchen. Thank goodness Uber reimbursed my meal. I called Slade's to let them know as well. The person who answered tried to tell me whiting is not like chicken/chicken nuggets ??????? Try some place else or do pickup only. Not worth the inconsistency and poor quality. So disappointing. Do better.

Not sure why I've never reviewed Slade's as I've eaten here plenty of times before, but stopped in here yesterday with my cousin since she was visiting Boston for the first time, and I wanted to bring her to a place with a nice vibe and good food. Slade's did not disappoint. We got there a little after 5 pm, so it was still relatively empty. It did take a while before we were brought our menu which was odd since there really wasn't anyone there, but once it finally came, we ordered our food and I got the peachie cocktail which was very strong! The food, as always, was good. I ordered the chicken wing dinner with a side of candied yams and collard greens. I loved the greens and wings which I thought was just the right amount of crunch and crisp. The yams were also good, but just a bit too sweet. What I really liked though was the music. My sister, cousin and I were singing along to all the throwbacks and really had a nice time. Love it!

This review is just about the food really... Food here is good. Got large sampler with the steak tips, fried okra, fried white fish (no catfish at the time) and fried wings. What impressed me was that even though the food was fried, it wasn't oily of that makes sense. Service was good. It was just a group of six of us on a Sunday afternoon, everyone else that came in were picking up their orders to go. Ambience in the daytime is a bit dark, you can tell it really livens up in the night time.

Loved this place. Keep in mind I'm from way out of town. My homie said meet him at this spot and it did not disappoint. Felt like I was with all my aunties and uncles. Maybe I am the uncle now! I had the 6 piece fried wings, Mac and cheese, and fries. I should've went for the yams. The fries were just okay. I wasn't too moved. The wings and Mac and cheese? I STAMP!!! Wings perfectly cooked and seasoned. Not too salty, not too bland. I didn't even really need hot sauce to enjoy. The Mac and fleeze? Elite. Seasoning in Mac and cheese matters and you can tell Slade's cares. I know you can't tell by these pictures but just believe me, they can COOK. The waitress was attentive and helpful, the vibe was very chill and relaxing on a Tuesday. Live band and DJ, the aunties and uncs dancing? Great energy. I will be back next time I'm in Boston!

The portions definitely make it worth the price!! I eat a lot and I still had left over ribs and my boyfriend had some steak tips and they were big in size as well! We were both happily full! The chicken wings as well are large and everything is cooked to perfection. Not one complain at all! Enjoy!

The food was good but be aware there is a 20% service charge separate from the tip. A burger and fries + two small sides came out to $40 making the place kind of expensive. I do like supporting local restaurants and this place clearly has a lot of history, so I recommend going if you're willing to pay a slight upcharge for the food.

My friends took me here after we had tried to go to Daryl's and it was closed for a private visit. They talk about how the place can get a bit sketchy but "braved" the visit. I thought nothing of it, I just wanted to experience the food. And when it came, I yelled at my fiends for not taking me here sooner. The food is on POINT! The wings were cooked perfectly. And the sides were dope. Also the music was so good. It reminded me of being at some dope wing spots in Atlanta. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for great soul food and good music. Service was fine and drinks are forgettable but looking for amazing food and good hip-hop music this is the place.

I have heard so much about this place once I moved to Boston. In any new city I need to know where the best wings, blues, soul food, and strong drinks are. Bonus points if it's a spot frequented by the Elders and bonus bonus points if it's historical. Slade's met all of these expectations and had them in.....Spades! I went with my frat brothers after some Xmas community service. Little did I know the spot was hosting a graduation ceremony of sorts for a group of Steppers/Line Dancers in the New Englad area. Unc and Aunty vibes--Check! Music made it so conversations had to be close or shouted and the poor bartender was the only staffer on hand (apparently no one told him about the steppers' party), but he was calling and running plays like a veteran QB. Drinks might've taken a while, but once they arrived they were strong enough to where you didn't need to ask for another one for quite a while. Food was amazing. Well-seasoned, generous portions, and piping hot! I could only down half of it and was too excited to take the rest home for later. This spot got some bad press recently, but I know my experience was exactly what I wanted and I'll be back, soon!

It's my favorite spot in Boston. Those over baked wings served on Tuesdays and Fridays are worth the awful commute into and out of the city.

Started with the cup of clam chowder that comes dripping from the cup. They use a lot of dill here and come out hot. A bit on the salty side but oyster cracker helps with that. The lobster mac and cheese came with a salad. The lobster mac had a nice broiled cheese top and a creamy inside. Nice lobster and cheesy flavor to it. I got the warm lobster roll and changed it to come with onion rings for $1. The onion rings tasted homemade. Slight crisp to it and thick onions. The lobster roll was massive and the amount of lobster it came with was incredible. Poured the hot butter and squeeze lemon on it for an amazing bite. Would come back here for a larger party to share the plates and order more stuff from here. The lobster bisque is only on the weekends. They have daily menus as well.

Salty Pig Pizza: A pizza with the same name as the restaurant! Who was the genius who came up with the idea of salted pig and beer caramel? It's brilliant! The salted pork appears to include Prosciutto di Parma from Langirano, Prosciutto Cotto, and Salcissia. Baking rendered the prosciutto's fat, which blends with the caramel to create a beautiful golden syrup that flows across the pizza's surface. The prosciutto was savory, oily, and tender; the minced salcissia retains its coarse texture and rich meaty aroma; the caramel was sweet and mellow with a honey-like sweetness, forming the top, middle, and base notes respectively. The arugula was slightly warmed, losing its astringent and raw taste while maintaining its crisp texture, helped to cut through the richness together with the Parmesan cheese powder. The crust was crispy, while the inside the dough was soft and chewy. The cooking time and seasoning were all just right, and the restaurant's proud wooden oven added a charming smoky flavor. Affogato: I had high expectations, but it was just okay. The espresso was too sour, and the vanilla ice cream couldn't balance it out. The almond biscuits had an overpowering almond flavor, and the flavor of plant-based protein was terrible! (Oh, this should have been a plus...)

The decor and ambiance are gorgeous. I had two cocktails: the lychee martini and the 1928, both were delicious and well portioned with spirits. The service was fantastic. We never had to ask for our glasses to be refilled, our waiter was attentive and professional. My husband had indicated on the online reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, and that was the only mention of our celebration. And yet when the dessert came out, it was a happy birthday, custom dessert. So without having to remind a soul, the team remembered and incorporated the celebration without having to be asked or reminded. Phenomenal attention to detail. The burger was tender and flavorful, the bread was soft and light and slightly sweet, and the onion ring added a great texture to the mix. Think of a amped up western burger. The ambiance was a cool vibe yet a home feel. We were seated quickly but it took awhile for anyone to acknowledge us. Service was good once it started and the food came out quickly. If we ever make it back to Boston, it will definitely be on our list to revisit. Great late dinner spot. Simple foods done right. (Oh, and the drinks were delicious. I wanted to try them all.
