I'm writing to share feedback about my recent Uber Eats order from Slade's. I dine in regularly and typically order wings, steak, and fries with no issues, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. I understood that delivery food may need reheating and was fully prepared to air fry the wings and fries. That was not the issue. The problem was the quality and accuracy of the sides and entrées. The collard greens were so salty they were inedible and honestly concerning from a health standpoint. One plate that was supposed to include chicken, mac and cheese, and yams arrived with double yams and no mac and cheese at all. The other plate with catfish, potato salad, and collards was also disappointing. The catfish was overcooked, the potato salad was watery, and again, the collards could not be eaten. Additionally, the yams were gummy and seemed undercooked, as if they needed more time in the oven. Aside from the wings and fries, the rest of the order was a complete letdown. I have no issue paying for food I enjoy and love, but unfortunately this order was neither enjoyable nor acceptable based on the quality I usually expect from Slade's. read more

Community! Slade's a local hotspot for good vibes, great drinks, and amazing music -- especially on Tuesday's for Open Mic Night. During a recent trip to Beantown, a coworker took me here for an evening out on the town. Slade's was very chill and you could tell was full of usuals who frequent the spot. The menu has plenty of options, service was great especially being a first timer I didn't feel out of place. Known for their chicken wings and other items, the menu has variety and almost feels more soul foodish. Music wise, the jazz band who played that night kept the spot going. Also offering impromptu musicians to join. A great night out in Boston, Slade's is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. Don't let anyone tell you different. read more

Another terrible meal from an establishment that used to be a staple in the community! Ordered Food for my Mom on Mother's Day via Door Dash. She was supposed to have a slab of ribs, potato salad , greens , chicken livers and chicken wings . She received random burnt pieces of ribs, NOT the slab she was supposed to have . Greens were super spicy- she wasn't able to enjoy . Potato Salad had WAY too much mayo, gross! AND the oil needed to be changed for the chicken livers and wings . They tasted burnt! I've been to Slade's a few times, but this was my mom's 1st time dining here. Since then, she has done takeout twice! I know how busy they can get so I decided to come in around 3pm before the rush. Our waitress was kind and helpful. I ordered their fried chicken wing dinner with the sides: mac & cheese and black-eyed peas & rice. My mother ordered their rib dinner with the sides: potato salad and collard greens. Everything came out hot and fresh. I ordered the whiting dinner with yams and collards. This is the third and last time supporting this bar & grill. The first time they put wings instead of whiting in my order. The second time, everything was excellent - hot, flaky whiting . Tonight's meal was inedible!! The whiting was burnt, fried so much the inside was burnt brown - snapped in two. Disgusting. The food was not worth the 191 dollars that I had to pay. We looked at a menu and the prices weren't honored. That charged a higher amount than was on the menu. The service was good until it was time to pay the bill. They had the nerve to give a bill for $191 for 4 chicken tenders they charged $54 and they said that French fries came with them but still charged me for the fries. Not sure why I've never reviewed Slade's as I've eaten here plenty of times before, but stopped in here yesterday with my cousin since she was visiting Boston for the first time, and I wanted to bring her to a place with a nice vibe and good food. Slade's did not disappoint. We got there a little after 5 pm, so it was still relatively empty. It did take a while before we were brought our menu which was odd since there really wasn't anyone there, but once it finally came, we ordered our food and I got the peachie cocktail which was very strong! The food, as always, was good. I ordered the chicken wing dinner with a side of candied yams and collard greens. I loved the greens and wings which I thought was just the right amount of crunch and crisp. The yams were also good, but just a bit too sweet. What I really liked though was the music. This review is just about the food really... Food here is good. Got large sampler with the steak tips, fried okra, fried white fish (no catfish at the time) and fried wings. What impressed me was that even though the food was fried, it wasn't oily of that makes sense. Service was good. My friends took me here after we had tried to go to Daryl's and it was closed for a private visit. They talk about how the place can get a bit sketchy but "braved" the visit. I went with my frat brothers after some Xmas community service. Little did I know the spot was hosting a graduation ceremony of sorts for a group of Steppers/Line Dancers in the New Englad area. Unc and Aunty vibes--Check! Music made it so conversations had to be close or shouted and the poor bartender was the only staffer on hand (apparently no one told him about the steppers' party), but he was calling and running plays like a veteran QB. Drinks might've taken a while, but once they arrived they were strong enough to where you didn't need to ask for another one for quite a while. Food was amazing. Well-seasoned, generous portions, and piping hot! I could only down half of it and was too excited to take the rest home for later. I've been coming to Slades for over 10 years and even after I left Boston, I Always check it out once a year. I stopped in last night as I'm in town visiting Family for Thanksgiving ! It's my understanding, it's under new management for the last year and I really like the updates and how modern it looks now! We walked in at about 430pm and were advised food is not available until 5pm so we sat at the bar. We ordered a Moscow mule and a Kentucky mule! I took off a star because they weren't served in the copper cups. The Spanish man at the bar was very nice and was handling the whole bar by himself! Kudos! The dj was amazing! They played everything from r&b, reggae, soca, and hip hop. People were dancing in their chairs and on the dance floor. At about 7-8pm, the crowd was picking up and Slades was buzzing! We also ordered the 12 piece wing with a side of greens and plantains! The wings were delicious and I would argue they are the best fried wings in the city! The decor is nice . The mac n cheese is not quite what I'm used to (it's seasoned differently), but you can definitely tell they seasoned it!!! It was good. Nothing like the "mac n cheese" I typically find up here in the northeast. The prices were reasonable for the cost of living in this area. My friend and I ordered the Catfish Sandwich dinner wifh mac n cheese as well as the fried shrimp with "okra poppers" and fried plantains. Thanks to the amazing staff at Slades, I am delighted. I called and spoke to Laenah. We ordered the Super Sampler: chicken, shrimp, steak tips, and fries. The best thing about Slades is that their food is made with love, and it feels like a family member made a plate for you. This is home cooking at it's best. I live in Brockton. I wanted some fried Okra so what better place than Slades on Tremont Street. So my husband and I drove down making family and friend stops in between. Of course it was the usual double parking, people going and coming from everywhere and the music so loud you couldn't hear. We ordered our food, fried okra, 3 chicken dinners with 2 Mac & Cheese, 2 Black Eye peas and Rice, 2 Collard Greens, 1 Yams. What we received was 1Mac & Cheese, 2 Black Eye Peas no Rice, Yams, 1 Collard Greens and 3 Chickens none of which was the standard Dinners and no utensils or napkins we have grown to know from Slade's. The kitchen was filled with young adults playing and catering to the Bar crowd instead of the ones who ordered to take out. The phone doesn't have anyone answering it, the mailbox is full. Hospitality Review; I was solo looking to wrap up my Aries celebration & Yelp brought me here. From the moment I walked up being welcomed by the Security staff, to the Door Attendant, the Bartenders & any other employee passing me by with friendly salutations, SB&G offers welcoming environment. Deemed as one of Boston's oldest establishments providing a rich culture in food & entertainment. I found out a little later, the owner of Darryl's Bar & Kitchen co-owns SB&G. As an aside, I hosted my WomanBaby's graduation dinner at DB&K two years back & was pleased with the experience. The versatility from a bar, to a full menu eatery with live / DJ music is on a positive. However, I wasn't too keen on paying $10 to gain access to a 'bar & grill' at 9ish on a Saturday night. Yet, around 10:30P the mixed crowd between ages 30-45, along with the DJ & wine per glass prices balanced out the cover fee. Although I didn't eat, I saw vast plates of Seafood, Steak, Salads & massive orders of their specificity Chicken Wings. Special thanks to BJ (Security) & Sean/Shawn (GM) for ensuring the solo patron from the DMV was well taking care of. I will bring the family to Slades next month when I return for the WomanBaby's graduation celebration. Perhaps the ownership team / Executive Chef can add a Vegan Burger & or a Vegetarian item to their menu in the interim. :-) read more

Don't bother. Too noisy, slow and unprofessional. It's an after work bar and decent food. It's the service that needs serious help. "Seat yourself " turned into you can't sit here! Ended up sharing a table with two other people. We happened to know them but that surely wasn't the point or our intention to eat with them. We sat and asked for water and the "waitress" came back with a bottle of Poland Spring water. What would she think that the table wouldn't want a picture of water and glasses for the table?
