I have been to The Sevens a few times, and it is always a solid experience. It is a classic Beacon Hill dive bar with real local flavor. Sports are always on. I have caught the Red Sox, NFL games, and other sports during my visits. It is a great place to grab a beer and watch a game without the crowd or noise of a big sports bar. I have had the French Dip sandwich and the BLT, and both were good... nothing fancy, just satisfying pub food that hits the spot. The beer list is strong for a small place, with local and craft options on tap. It is beer and wine only, which works just fine here. The bar staff has always been friendly and welcoming. Seating is limited, and it can get tight, but that is part of the charm. It is the kind of place where regulars mix with first-timers and everyone feels comfortable. Three and a half stars would be right on the mark, but I will round up to four. This is a mid-sized bar and restaurant right in the convenient location of Beacon Hill, so we decided to come here last minute to meet up with friends. It wasn't too busy on a weeknight, so we just seated ourselves and grabbed a waiter when we were ready to order. They have a plentiful menu with classic bar foods, and I was eyeing the hotdog. Simply considering the portion size of the hotdog, I definitely think it is worth the price. It was an outstanding hotdog, just a large one. The staff were all friendly and quick to help, and the restaurant itself is very cozy and a nice place to relax for dinner while chatting with friends. Shoutout to the lady who works in the kitchen part of this bar. Came in last night and she was the first one to even look our way and give us menus. Very sweet and the food was decent for a dive. The male bartender however is a prick. We came in at 9pm on a Sunday and the place was pretty dead. He had an attitude with virtually everyone who wasn't a regular apparently. I went up to order food after finishing my first drink and he gave me lip about "not having patience to wait for him to come to us"..... after watching him blatantly ignore us. The bouncer was really aggressive towards women and scary for no reason. A group of us went there and the bouncer wouldn't expect that two of the group were twins! Sevens Ale House really does feel like you've been transported to a whole different place. The dark wood, the juke box, the menu written in chalk - all of that really created the vibe. They have a pretty extensive beer list which we obviously had to explore. People were right about there not being a lot of food options but we got some appetizers and they were really good! I personally recommend the pretzel bites. As for the service, staff were very attentive but I did feel some pressure to hurry up and leave, which was odd seeing as how we were in place that felt like you could hang in. Had a quick and easy lunch here - friendly place with one harried waitress (Julianne) managing with the bar tender - and she did a great job. Kept her cool and was friendly. We had the knockwurst plate and the chili. Both were very good. Knockwurst was salty and went perfectly with the sauerkraut and potato salad. Chili was filling and delicious. Beer was good, too. Me and my roommates are regulars here and we absolutely LOVE this place. Special shoutout to Alfonso and Paul, both amazing people who make sure we always have a great time. The dogs of the day are also bomb, especially the Reuben dog. We have also enjoyed playing darts and queuing songs in the nonjudgemental environment. 10/10 would recommend! read more
