Every Saturday, I'd pull up to the drive-through, hand over my punch card (11th shake free!), and order the large chocolate peanut butter shake. The price was a little over $5 at the time. It tasted like a Reese's Cup. In less than two minutes, I'd have the shake in hand, ready to conquer the day! Don't be intimidated or discouraged by the body-builder employees or patrons. I started going to Planet Nutrition because I was an emaciated high school cross-country runner. The owner made me a complimentary blueberry cheesecake shake, and gave me a thorough nutrition consultation to help me gain some lean weight. All of the employees I encountered were friendly and efficient at making shakes. To compare, I tried a shake at Captain Nutrition down the road, but it just wasn't as awesome. Fortunately for those of you in Laffy Taffy, now there is a Planet Nutrition website, which lists the dozens of smoothie flavors and nutritional values (perfect for all you body-builders getting ready for competition)! And apparently they've opened two more stores - an additional one in Lafayette, and another in Lake Charles. Next time I'm in town, I will be reuniting with a large chocolate peanut butter shake.

If you have the time you can get a lesson on pecans--trees, farming, varieties--as well as how to pronounce 'pecan' here in Louisiana and all the way to Georgia. Surprisingly the parking was not filled and the store neither which I can't remember being the case at any location I've ever visited especially mid-morning on a weekend. The exterior and interior of this store was immaculate and well organized, it's as if it was opening day, I guess this is in part that it's a small town and employs local people who really care and definitely a great management team, boy could this location teach others how a Walmart should be ran. I'd probably shop at Walmart more often if this was my experience in my hometown, hats off to the wonderful and friendly staff here you're doing it right...

The receipt printer printed without any drama and I was able to clear the remains of the bayou's bugs from the windshield without stretching or improvising. Once we moved to a proper parking spot we headed inside. Men's room first and it was clean, really clean, the kind of clean where you hit the green button on the way out without hesitation. Mrs. K reported that the ladies room was equally spotless, which only reinforced the sense that this location takes pride in the basics. The snack selection was generous, but after the high fat and high sugar beignets we had enjoyed in New Orleans it felt like time to reset a bit. We grabbed a plastic tub of garden salad with a couple of boiled eggs from the cooler along with a bottle of Tropicana orange juice, a simple combination of clean and healthy roughage that hit the spot. A lovely lady rang up our purchase, wished us a pleasant journey and sent us on our way after what turned out to be one of the most pleasant Love's stops we've had. The diesel fuel island were very clean and well maintained and the prices very competitive considering the times. The staff here was very friendly and this Love's has all the amenities you've come to expect - this is my brand of choice when traveling in the RV. I did not need the RV accommodations but it's nice to see Love's has incorporated RV sites into there business model, having dedicated parking for RV with utilities is an amazing undertaking and frees up over the road truck parking so they recognized these two don't mix well.
