I assume they buy overstock from distributors, so they often have GREAT deals on alcohol that you won't find elsewhere. Like they once had Kraken rum for $5 a bottle which is normally $23. Guess what all my drinking friends got for Christmas from me that year! LOL. Currently, they have 10-packs of Windsor Canadian Whiskey single shots for $5 - that's 50¢ a bottle, and you just can't get that deal anywhere else! The layout of the store is nice, and I don't have a problem finding anything, although I almost always buy the same things... my favorite beers and anything interesting they have on sale. Added bonus: from my house to their store is an easy drive with only one traffic light between them and me.

This year Ashley greeted me twice, by name, as I walked towards the back of the store to tell me that the products I inquired about were stocked!!! Now that is customer service! Didn't have to drive all over town looking for specific seasonal alcohol. I asked if it was possible and they delivered! Phenomenal store with lots of variety and I pass it daily headed home. This will always be MY FAVORITE SHOP for alcohol. And don't be afraid to ask if they can order something, it has happened twice for me. The two items I asked for is Jamison Cold Brew whiskey and Smirnoff Red White and Merry vodka, both are great for this time of the year. Although the new location is considerably smaller than the old one, it's carefully stocked so that it too more of a loss in volume than selection. The beer selection also stood out, I found exactly what I was looking for, and for decent prices. We came in specifically stocking up for a holiday party, so let me recommend the pre-mixed Evan Williams Eggnog which really hit the spot for me, and was very popular with guests ;)

I also heard them on the phone once advising a caller on what the best deal was for buying beer for their event. I like when a small business would rather give a better deal and retain a client than make the quick buck. Shocked, I say! **I had to ding a star - while I love this place and every positive thing I and every other reviewer has said is absolutely true, I've been in two or three times now and they didn't have the beers I was looking for. Still a great place, but it is simply too small to keep a true variety of offerings regularly stocked. It's a teeny, tiny place smack in the middle(ish) of Hillcrest, and it's one of the single most popular stores in the area, especially on a hot day. I personally love their beer fridge, because it's refreshing on a hot day, a shocker on a cold one, and it is full to the brim of delicious, scrumptious, well-traveled, filling, refreshing, beautiful beer. They have stacks of Diamond Bear and Lost Fourty, as well as a wide variety of brews from our neighbors across state lines, in all directions. I've found everything from local favorites on my to-try list, to obscure familiar bottles from my past lives in Portland (i.e. Rogue "Dead Guy"), San Francisco (i.e. Anchor Lager), and in between. They strike the same balance of local love, neighborly sharing, and reasonable selection in their wine and liquor shelves too - something that's all the more shocking because this shop is *tiny* I go here to get my wife's favorite wines, my favorite beers, and something or other to have under my arm to impress any host from a dinner party connoisseur to an indiscriminate guzzler. The location is a really nice perk on First Thursday (the first Thursday of every month) where you can walk up and down Hillcrest and be greeted with complimentary gifts from businesses, but also because it's a rare occasion where you can have a beer on a public street.
