Residing in Apple Hill right off 50, this delightful winery taproom offers a warm and inviting atmosphere both indoors and out. With a wood-fired pizza oven perfect for hosting special occasions, guests can enjoy the rustic charm while savoring a glass of their finest wines and ciders. Convenient amenities such as outdoor seating and a cozy indoor area provide the perfect setting for any wine lover to unwind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Upon my frequent visits to this winery, I've found my collection of glassware growing steadily, thanks to the complimentary tasting glasses provided with each visit. Rather than simply accumulating more glassware, I now find myself yearning for a gesture of appreciation for my loyalty, such as having my flight tasting fee waived as a token of recognition. While the prices of their wines may be slightly higher compared to neighboring establishments, the option to trade bottles in exchange for a discount has significantly influenced my decision-making process. Without this option, I may have been tempted to explore other wineries in search of a new favorite spot. Overall, this winery's welcoming staff and unique offerings make it a standout destination in the region. *I did notice, however, that the red wine I sampled at the winery seemed more developed than the bottle I later purchased. **As you pull into the parking lot, you notice a lone portapotty standing in the corner. The sun beats down on its blue exterior, tempting you with the promise of quick relief. But as you weigh your options, a thought niggles in the back of your mind - a flushable toilet awaits at the bottom of the hill. Will you brave the descent for a more luxurious experience, or opt for the convenience of the trusty portapotty?

Had a great time doing a solo trip with my dog at Bumgarner. The property has shaded tables outside and dog friendly tasting room. Tory was very friendly and helpful. All the wines I tasted were so good, even the cider. Can't wait to visit again.

One of the best wineries in Apple Hill! Great customer service! Great variety and inside/outside seating options! We are wine club members and it's such a great deal, plus two locations to try and lots of fun events during the year.

Excellent tasting and great conversation! We've gone each year for 3 years and are making it a yearly tradition

This place should be on your list during any visit to the wineries of Apple Hill. But it's a must if you're here for Passport Weekend! During Passport, Bumgarner pulls out all the stops. Every wine has a food pairing (occasionally this includes a vegan option) and they do a great job of making you feel welcome. The Tempranillo is always good here, as is the hard cider that they produce. If you buy a bottle of cider and bring it back, you get a discount on your refill. Thanks to Mitch from Jodar for the recommendation some years back :)

I can't say enough how much I love this place! The staff is always really friendly and knowledgeable and the wine is delicious! I am a little sad that they didn't have the Barbera for purchase because it's my favorite! But the Super Tuscan was a nice placeholder. I love the different ciders they have as well - we can't make it through the holidays without at least a few bottles! Thank you again for a wonderful stop.

Stumbled upon this spot and by the 4th visit we became members. All the staff are very friendly and joys to talk with. Friday night pizza and live music is a great way to end the work week. We love to get the table under the beautiful fog trees. We love their ciders as much as their wines. Thank you ladies!

Fantastic wines, excellent service. A really fun place to wine taste! Such a cool outdoor space.

Great set of flights, one of a few today. Great service and lovely atmosphere. A must visit everytime I'm in the area.

Great wines. Had flights today sitting under the beautiful fig tree. Lovely atmosphere and great service.

This place is a gem! Jennifer Bumgarner was so helpful from beginning to end of our visit! She responded to my emails promptly, prior to the event. She took my reservation and immediately changed it when I asked for her assistance. In person, Jennifer is so kind, friendly and just as helpful! She even checked up on us at the end of the night to see how everything was. The music by Vogel and Cain was so relaxing- a beautiful singing voice and a very talented duo! Definitely a wonderful way to end the work week! The pizza was delicious with fresh-tasting ingredients. The red wine was rich and bold- it paired well with the mouthwatering pizza! We will be back for sure! Thank you, Jennifer and the staff at Bumgarner Winery! Highly recommend! 5/5!

After the first stop, I was recommended to come here next before the rush. It was right by Jodar and the other wineries. We had found parking without trouble and was parked right away. From the look outside, it looked ok. We went into the building which reminds me of a house/ wine bar feeling. I was served with some delicious squash soup which was hearty and warm like i walked into my grandmas home. I then got a pour of the silver fork Viognier, which paired really well with the soup. Definitely you can find the tropical notes, in the wine with the correct pairing. Then i went ahead and sampled the pinot noir, with bacon fig pizza. The pizza was fresh hot out of the oven, one bite of the pizza and one sip of the pinot noir to wash it down. Its like playing with magic where the correct pairing of food can change the before and after taste of the wine. A very memorable food item i had was the juicy beef lamb mixed meatball. It was dynamite juicy foodgasm good, it was cooked so moist and meaty, with finely chopped caramelized onions inside the meat ball. The meatball was paired with the tempranillo, a favorite of mines. I can't believe i didn't go back for seconds, if i ever see those meatballs again, trust me i will get 2 or 3 servings lol. Another memorable thought that sparked in my mine is the stair swirled stair case in the inside. The upstairs isn't opened but used for storage i believe, but it gives me the home feeling. I do like how they have a fridge which sells cheese, and they carry st. andres cheese, so thats a plus plus. Oh forgot to mention i was here for the ginger cider! Mitch had told me its amaze balls, so i had to get a bottle to go even without trying because this man knows my pallet. I did get a sample of the apple cider from here. It was delicious and not your normal angry orchard apple cider. The apple cider was more crisp dry and sparkling with less sweet. After the apple cider tasting, no doubt did i think twice about bringing the bottle of ginger cider home to pair with a wonderful home cooked picnic brunch, with the wifey. Oh they charge $5 for the bottles, but they are refillable and next time you bring it back, you get a discount off the bottle charge. Overall amazing food pairings, great wines, and comfortable surroundings. Also love the different cheese and bleu cheese pairings with the older aging dessert wines. I had a great time with the wife, and i will be back for more ginger cider, and considering getting a bottle of the apple cider too. Thanks for reading, and keep it crisp and stay refreshing!

What an adorable tiny house-style winery! We were immediately greeted by Brian, owner and winemaker at this fine establishment. He kind of reminded me of a kinder Eric Northman from True Blood. :) He gave us a wonderful journey through his wines. My absolute fave was the Gewürztraminer. It was more like a roussanne with thick buttery brown sugar notes, nothing like most Gewürztraminers I've had. Definitely grabbed a bottle of that and should have grabbed more! Also, this was the first time I've ever liked Pinot Noir! Been all up and down central coast and usually, the tobacco notes kill it for me. But, not here! Fruity and well balanced..we grabbed a bottle of that as well and shared it with friends with some pizza :) Awesome pairing! Definitely plan on coming back, so I'm saving my Gewürztraminer bottle, which grants you $5 off your next purchase and this chick loves a coupon! Such a great start to a wine trip!

We came here for the first time recently and it was a magnificent experience! The place itself is incredibly cute! It's an old barn with some original fixtures. It's all wooden and rustic- an adorable spiral staircase and a decent size bar top that wraps around. Inside there was snacks- meat, cheeses, crackers, water, etc... huge perk for those who may forget things. I personally think most winery's should have that. Outside there are wooden bench/tables and umbrellas, a great grassy spot to sit and enjoy our wine and snacks. This aspect was super cute and pleasant, we really enjoyed our stay and got the most out of it. Another note, Tammy was our host and she was truly spectacular. She was definitely part of the reason our time here was so great. She was very welcoming and kind. She was very personable and grounded- her style is friendly, but in a very classy way. She was great company, we learned a lot, and we would go back because of her. The wine selection was phenomenal. Everything I tried, it just got better and better. We did a $5 tasting and and once we purchased a bottle- the $5 was applied towards our buy. I would definitely recommend coming here and I cannot wait to return!

To start, we called on the phone first to make a reservation for our anniversary, we announced we had a Groupon to use, and we were never informed at the time of booking that it could not be used during their pizza and music nights. We arrive, lady setting us for our table (We also mention Groupon, another opportunity for them to alarm us, still nothing.) We get to our table, explain the Groupon to the server in which she declined the Groupon. We asked for a little more time to decide what we would order instead, server NEVER comes back. Takes us 20 mins to flag down another server who also never comes back after our wine is dropped off. Once our original server comes back around about an hour later after our glasses are empty, she is stumbling on her words (clearly has been drinking) and makes an offer for the Groupon that didn't even make sense lol. I want soooo bad to be able to go back again but damn I'm disappointed. As a server myself this is unacceptable. Even for our anniversary we weren't expecting anything special just honest and attentive service. The experience left such a bad taste in our mouth. She mentioned being short staffed but the vibe at a winery to begin with is slow paced and never an excuse to just outright avoid your tables entirely. I did not see any pep in this persons step, so to me it did not appear busy. Sorry, but have to knock down the score just for that
