    Kenobi-very friendly and loving!

I have come to Apple hill ranch for years and this place tops every experience thus far! The owner and creator of the art on the bottling of the wine-Erik is a great human being. Very comfortable space and delicious wine tasting, he creates all the art for the bottling and I enjoyed every wine I tasted here. But the best part of it all was Kenobi, his pug/Chihuahua mix. He was so sweet and friendly. I will continue to come back to this place and I plan to bring more family to enjoy. Thank you for making us feel so comfortable and welcome!

We really enjoyed this winery. It was intimate and lovely. We enjoyed the outdoor seating and everyone there was very friendly. The wine is really good! Highly recommend!

Another Nevada Day weekend wine stop. Located across the freeway from Apple Hill, this is a great wine stop. They create small lot wines with old-world methods and modern style. Winemaker/Owner Eric Hays makes unfiltered wines. The labels have paintings of the winemaker's family. During covid reservations are required. There's limited seating inside, but with so much great weather, I recommend saving a table outside on the huge lawn. There you can sip your wine and enjoy some of the fun artwork. The parking lot is large and paved. There's playground equipment if you are tasting with children.

What a wonderful way to wind down from a fun filled day at apple hill. Thanks to Yelp I saw the reviews abc was curious to check the Chateau Davell winery. This is definitely off the beaten path but thank goodness for navigation as this winery was tucked away. Luckily we made reservations for the last tasting. There were two other tables being occupied. The owner paced the wines well and we cake to learn that each bottle was named after a family member. The drawings on the bottles appeared to be portraits of the family member. I think we had at least 8 different wines and the owner was kind enough to waive my fee since my friend bought a bottle. We decided to sit around and I ordered the cider which was just the right amount of sweet. When we ordered the owner told us we were okay to hang out while he closed out. I liked the atmosphere and peacefulness of the environment. Would definitely love to come back.

Aye oh. What a glorious and gorgeous location. Perfect for tasting, weddings, and gatherings. There is antiques spread throughout, which is really neat. They're covid updated, mask wearing, safe, and clean. Reservations are required. Big grass area, lots of picture spaces, and tucked in with apple Hill.

    Relaxing and beautiful scene.

Such a wonderful place with great food, wine, people and atmosphere. Can't wait to plan my daughter's bridal shower here!

We were meeting some friends at Fenton Herriott Vineyards, but they got caught up in some business and were going to be delayed. After enjoying a delicious meal, we still had about an hour to kill and after some Yelping, we found Chateau Davell Boutique Winery. First off, I have to say that their Winery has such a breathtaking view of the tree line and distant mountains. Definitely take a moment to stop and appreciate that. Their wine tasting runs daily from 11am to 5pm and is $10. This includes a small cheese tasting paired with each wine. If you decide to purchase a bottle (or bottles), then your tasting fee will be refunded. Good to know! My room mate and I had a pleasant experience. Again, I'm very new to these wine tastings and we were told to try the wine without the cheese first. Then we were to eat the cheese and try the wine to see how it changed or enhanced the flavor. We were astonished just how a small bite of cheese could drastically change the flavor of the wine. My room mate and I both have a sweet tooth and the last wine of the tasting was a dessert wine paired with their house made toffee. The dessert wine (Ste. Maribelle Dessert Wine) was deliciously sweet and paired with the toffee was simply perfection! We decided to buy a bottle of that for $24, waving our tasting fees. For me being naive to the life of wine, with every tasting I get to experience, I'm learning more about what goes into making and producing such great wine. Their staff was very knowledgable and helpful, especially to a newbie like myself. We both had a fun and wonderful experience here at Chateau Davell, highly recommend it.

Do NOT get married here. The venue is very pretty, but organizationally, they are a complete mess…read more We were trapped into it with lofty promises and a deposit of half the whole cost. There was no communication between staff, poor communication between the management and us as clients, employees were unsure of their own roles and our provided "day of coordinator" had zero idea how to coordinate a wedding and I as the bride had to keep the day moving and tell her what to do next. (Even though we came up with a typical schedule together.) The management didn't know the size of the tables available at this location, and at our rehearsal the day before our wedding, we were told that we had to redo our whole seating chart because the tables were actually smaller than we knew. The food was brought up all the way from Sacramento in a U-haul truck, which was visible to the ceremony site during the ceremony. Half of our guests got sick afterwards. The food menus they gave to us to select catering from did not reflect what was actually available either. The chef took our selections down with a sticky note, and they lost that sticky note. They had to call us to confirm our choices. Choices we had to change AGAIN because the menu changed again. I even had to fight to have a decorated cake, and even then it ended up being extremely minimalist by design. More than once our wedding detail consultation dates had to be changed in favor of weddings that were much larger than our smaller event. They basically left our event planning to the very last minute. 2 months in advance. We spent $500 on liquor and sodas for people who didn't care for our pre-fabricated signature drinks (old fashioned's and French 75's) but the venue provided bartender never even touched those supplies. Instead, he opened up all of our red wine bottles at once, giving no thought for guest demand. We had to throw out half of the untouched wine bottles at the end of the night. Our guests had ZERO idea that there were more drink options. Please save yourselves and get married somewhere else. We are haunted by this experience.

Sue and her team at Sierra Banquet Center are fantastic!…read more We had my dads retirement celebration at Sierra Banquet Center just after the new year and it was such a fun evening! I had a few ideas of how I wanted the night to go and Sue helped to make that possible at her gorgeous log cabin venue. I had quite a few things to set up and Sue allowed us in early to take care of the setup so we weren't rushing and stressed right before the event. The holiday decor was transformed from Christmas trees to classy and elegant whites and golds for my event colors/theme. Everything was beautiful and the tri-tip buffet was delicious!! I would love to have another event at the Sierra Banquet Center! Thank you Sue (and your team) for all that you did to make my dads celebration so memorable!

We split the steak, carrots, and fingerling potatoes with an amazing sauce! There was enough for us to split it into two. The wine was amazing from local wineries, the waitress was sweet and friendly and had grear service. So if you like those Raiders of the Lost Ark vibes, then you would like sitting next to the mine for sure. It's roped off but you can hear the water dripping and it is naturally cool. The structure was originally built as a hotel in 1853 and has been well preserved. I ordered their Smith Flat House salad ($10) and the Jambalaya Risotto ($34) which consisted of Cajun-marinated prawns, lobster meat, Andouille sausage, grilled sweet corn with saffron chicken risotto. Definitely had a bit of a kick to it, the risotto was done well. My pet peeve is mushy risotto, it needs to have a slight bite to it which this one had thankfully. Love the fact that this place serves up local wines -- I couldn't recall the wine I had and they do not have their wine menu on their website. If you have the opportunity to visit, I'd recommend a glass of red from Starfield (winery up the road).
