I used to work around the corner and never got to take advantage of visiting the downtown area of Los Gatos. I really don't know if it's me, but I feel like certain stores have have developed a "coolness" due to the attitudes of their clientele. One lady in particular who's assisted me two times, in her 30s to early 40s has a certain iciness compared to the older and younger ladies here. If I have to deal with her, so be it, everything else Bunches offers makes up for it. She's not thaaat bad... But hey, maybe it's just me? The flowers here are just beautiful and I always try to stop by every two weeks to appreciate them. A few times I couldn't walk away from the dahlias they had and bought one each week that I came by. Pricing is a bit on the high side, but consider that their selections are much unique to the nearby Safeway or Wholefoods floral section. You can pick out flowers/ plants that you like and "arrange" them yourself. The younger lady that assisted me arranged my pickings beautifully in pretty tissue paper, no extra charge. They ask if it's for you (newspaper and tissue) or a gift and they charge for "wrapping" as a gift. I came during a very hot week and the ladies were concerned about the flowers wilting by the time I came home and suggested I leave the flowers with them until I was going to leave Los Gatos (I had an hour appointment nearby). I really appreciated the thoughtfulness. They utilize "Dan the Cab Man" lol, an older gentlemen who, drives a cab van who does deliveries. In regards to the comments of others who say that they're always on the phone, there's some truth to that because they have to answer the phone as they often get orders. They are located in the middle of Los Gatos directly in front of a crosswalk, in what looks like a converted alleyway. Very cute "rustic" feel. read more

I am extremely disappointed with my Mother's Day bouquet I ordered to be delivered to my mom. Previously ordered from bunches last year and asked for peonies ($60 arrangement). They were unsure whether or not I would receive peonies but I did in fact receive them. I called this year and again asked for peonies. They almost guaranteed I would receive them as the man said that they were getting a shipment in that week. I said great, I want to spend 60 dollars like last year. The man proceeded to say that peonies were in fact very expensive and that the price was a little low. I said that I would increase to 80 dollars and he said that would be fine. Flash forward to Mother's Day, I did not in fact receive any peonies after the man encouraged me to up my price for flowers I did not even receive. Furthermore, I had requested that I receive hydrangeas and greenery for a white arrangement instead if they did not have peonies. My mom received about two hydrangeas and the majority of purple flowers and roses that are horridly ugly. I never mentioned color especially purple as my mom hates purple. I'm disgusted in the lack of customer service considering I paid 100+ dollars in total. Completely used whatever flowers they had on hand for this arrangement and told me to pay more for flowers I didn't even get. The card in which they wrote the message I asked for looked like a first grader wrote it. It's utterly embarrassing they even included it. There was scratches as if a word was spelled wrong and it was extremely haphazard and unprofessional. Also they were very bitter on the phone when I placed the order. Acted as though they were put out when I'm simply supporting your business. Take your money elsewhere if you want your florist to act as though they would like to receive business and put the effort into creating something meaningful. read more

*Good location, adorable set up, less than great service* A lot of people have great things to say about this place. The people here know about flowers and give great advice for events. I ordered some flowers for my non profit, and Bunches wasn't very helpful when it came to helping out a non profit supporting 3rd world orphans. When I came to pick up the flowers I stood waiting in front of the counter without being acknowledged and then a customer that came after me was helped before me (I was lucky I got any help at all and it wasn't without letting out a heavy sigh). This is my favorite floral boutique shop in the whole wide world! I "try" to go here every Sunday morning to select two bundles (usually $5 a bundle) to decorate the home. It's like walking into my own garden and someone has already picked my favorite flowers for me. Last Sunday, I purchased 2 bunches of beautiful voilet mums and dahlias. So friggin pretty. The staff is so cute and friendly - I want to adopt them as well. They asked me if the flowers were a gift and I said no and they still wrapped them in nice tissue paper. This is a great store. Their flowers are super fresh and always last a long time. For the area, the store is reasonably priced and a good value for what you get. I haven't found any place better. Everyone is unfailingly polite and the service is excellent. Pete the duck is always a hit. I bring my four year old regularly to see her. (Yeah, Pete is a girl.) I stopped by to pick up some flowers for our favorite office manager on Administrative Professionals Day (4/26). It's a cute shop with a large selection of flowers, succulents, orchids and many more, at super affordable prices ( $6+). You can purchase bunches of flowers, but they also had prearranged flowers in vases. I picked out a bunch of flowers that were in the "specials" bucket priced at $9 and picked a vase for $8. Bunches is the awesome florist right on the Santa Cruz Ave in Los Gatos that has the most wonderful flower shop ambience I know. It's so pretty in all respects and a fun place to walk through to enjoy the colorful greenery, flowers, and plants, even if you're not looking to buy. Don't forget to say hello to Pete, their in-house duck, who lives in the sink at the back of the store during the day. She's quite friendly and used to everything, but please no touching or feeding-:) I understand that just like with everything in life, their customer service maybe a hit or a miss depending on a day or a moment; there're so many people coming through there day after day, rambunctious kids running around, it can be stressful at times. I'm so disappointed in this place especially with all the good reviews. My boyfriend ordered flowers for me for Valentine's Day. The bouquet had a dozen long stemmed roses with cherry blossoms and lilies. The bouquet was GORGEOUS. I absolutely loved them and thought it was very unique. I thought they did a great job putting it together. Sadly though, the roses never opened up and wilted after a few days. For a $120 bouquet, I expected MUCH, MUCH, better. I called the shop and explained to them what happened. The girl on the phone was really sweet and said that I could come in and get a replacement with whatever I wanted. I called on a Wednesday but because work was crazy busy that week I wasn't able to make it in during their business hours so I told her that the earliest I could come in was Saturday. She said that was totally OK and that I just needed to explain the situation when I came in. On Saturday I found the time to make it in and told the ladies working there what happened and the call I made. I even took pictures of my bouquet to show them as proof. One lady offered to replace the bouquet or schedule me for another bouquet another time. I wanted them to replace the bouquet and told another lady what I had in my arrangement. She went to pick out the roses and cherry blossoms. While waiting for her to put together my new arrangement, I started browsing around to check out the other flowers they had. The lady comes to me and says "well your cherry blossoms are fine right? So I'm just going to give you the roses, and these greens we have are short so there's no point." First off, I was really tired and didn't want to be a b* about the situation. I was grateful that they were going to replace my arrangement in the first place. However, with that being said, if I'm (well, the boyfriend) is going to pay a good price for flowers, I'd hope they'd at least bloom before dying. I said that I was fine with the roses because I didn't want to deal with it. But the more I think about it, the more upset I am. You shouldn't promise a customer something and then back out afterwards. It's terrible customer service. Maybe I just had a bad experience since everyone else's reviews are great. But in the end, I requested that my boyfriend never buy me flowers from here EVER AGAIN. I'm sure that there are plenty of other florists out there that will provide better customer service. read more

Yesterday was the last time I will have patronized Bunches (and endured their high and mighty attitude) after having bought flowers from them throughout the years. I went in to buy a bunch of flowers to add to the beautiful bouquet I had bought from the farmer's market and needed a new plastic wrap for it (I brought my bouquet with me). However, when the lady at the front went to wrap the flowers, she stopped and degradingly smirked at my bouquet, asking me if I had bought it from their shop. I said that I bought the bouquet elsewhere but bought the additional flowers from them. I was shocked at her demeanor, so I decided to ask if she thought they looked nice, to which she arrogantly sneered and replied, "They're okay." I won't patronize a place that is relentlessly conceited in both their manner to their customers as well as their comically priced flowers. To give you a comparison, I buy long-lasting flowers from farmer's markets all the time, and Bunches' comparable bouquets--many of which were smaller than my own--ranged anywhere from 2.5 to 4 times as much in price! Their prices just add insult to injury. I'll continue to buy my flowers from the farmer's markets in the South Bay! read more

She asked for my budget, and I told her "around $30..." She RUDELY interrupted me and said "our minimum is $65..." Strange to have such a high minimum for an around the corner delivery. I'm giving 2 stars for the nice woman who helped me today. The other woman is who deserves 0 stars. I told the woman I wanted to spend $60-75 on a bouquet for a funeral (I brought my own vase). I told her I completely trusted her judgement along with my price range and that I wanted all white and green. I also purchased 3 orchids along with 2 pots for family members of the loved one passed. Another employee offered help to the ladies and they kindly declined. I kindly asked "would she be able to ring up my items?" The extremely rude woman with glasses and curly hair looked up at me and rolled her eyes. I couldn't believe it. The other woman who was very nice and was working on the orchids offered to, but I said that I was just trying to make things easier and that she could finish up the and we would take care of it afterward. The rude woman said that I'd have to wait for her to finish anyways, which by the way, she was pretty much finished. The bouquet looked gorgeous, however I ended up paying $85 for the bouquet, which I had said $60-75. There were also plenty of leftover flowers from the bunches I'd purchased for the bouquet. When I left, they remained on the counter, unused and weren't offered to me. If I paid for them, I expect you to give them to me. Even if they're not used. The rude woman ended up helping me out to my car which was nice. I'm not sure if that's because she found out I work locally and didn't want me to run around talking about how rude she was? That's what Yelp is for. At the end of the day, I spent $150 after the orchids which I was fine with. I just like to feel good after supporting a local business and spending that kind of money. From now on, I'll just use Citti's florist. It's half the price, and in this case would of been easier being that they have it at the cemetery. Not to mention, you don't have people being rude to you when you're simply trying to give them your money. Oh, I also checked in here and put how much I love this place when I got there. I have been a patron of Bunches for years. I had not been there in several months and walked in to buy flowers. All of my previous experiences have been amazing. Last weekend, I didn't recognize the workers. Someone let me in and the workers started talking about me (not to me) about walking in when they are limiting patrons to 2 at a time, even though we had masks. I asked if I should leave. They said no, I was already there. Someone walked to the red ribbon at the front door, they continued to talk about me to her ("someone walked in on their own"). I didn't feel the patronizing attitude was appropriate and I shouldn't have to put up with rude 40 years old that act like high school mean girls. I was very disappointed. read more

I've never heard of this place before and only casually walked in with my family because my mom wanted to check out some succulents. Wasn't aware I was going to be rudely patronized as a potential customer. I'm diabetic and have a medical alert service dog that goes with me everywhere in case my blood sugar drops dangerously low and she can alert me. Service dogs are fully trained to behave completely politely and avoid any distractions to focus on the handler. As we walked in, the lady behind the counter was like oh Pete's on the ground so just be careful (I had never been here before so did not know there was a duck named Pete) and thought she said there was pizza on the ground. I said oh ok no problem I'll keep a look out thanks. As I walked further in another lady with the most high and mighty pretentious attitude proceeds to say yeah next time you need to ask before you come in with a dog because we'll need to pick up Pete in case of anything he's not friendly with dogs. I replied oh you meant a dog I thought you said pizza and she's like no it's a duck. I'm like oh ok well I had no idea sorry about that but my dogs a service dog and she's like yes next time you just NEED TO ASK before coming in with a dog there's signs EVERYWHERE. I told her I didn't see any signs at all and she's like that's fine just make sure you ASK before coming in. (For the third time I get it lady). I understand you guys probably get regular dogs coming in here that may not behave, but you also need to know that it's a service dog and not everyone is aware there's a duck in there. Just like I didn't see the signs you might not have seen the dog vest. Your business is legally required to let me and my dog in whether or not there's a duck in there. Don't get me wrong I love animals but this was just becoming such a big deal that completely took me off guard when all we came in for is to look at some flowers. If the duck has issues with dogs then maybe THEY should've been proactive and more aware of who's coming in and stopped me at the door and let ME know to be cautious. Rather than have me come in and then scold me for being a damn customer? Needless to say, there will definitely be no next time as I don't need your business nor snarky attitude. It was a dark and narrow entrance and I personally did not see any signs considering I was looking at flowers, nor am I constantly on the look out for duck signs on any average given day. As we walked out my brother had just caught the last part of conversation and said why is there a duck in here and I hear her call out with more attitude, we've had the duck here for 12 years. I love the flowers here. So fresh and like Jamie C. says, very unusual looking. My friend bought me a daisy that was around 8 inches in diameter. It was huge and I loved it. The arrangements are gorgeous and even the bouquets are just fantastic looking. You just want to buy the whole store out for the heck of it. I went here based on everyone's recommendations and left disappointed by the customer service. There's no doubt the flowers are fresh and beautiful, the ready-made bouquets gorgeous and calming. The flowers will make you happy. The staff did not make me happy. Two women at the register were so busy talking on the phone they didn't stop to look up, and I had to make a "uh hum" noise and say, "hi" to get the ball rolling. I very rarely write reviews but i felt I had to let others know of my experience. since it was so very unprofessional and not in the least customer oriented. I called to order a plant to be delivered for a friend who bought a new house. It was supposed to be delivered on the day I ordered it (Saturday) since i called around 9AM. When I never heard from my friend I called the shop on Sunday to find out if it was delivered and they told me it was not because they had written my credit card number incorrectly. They had my phone and e mail yet never reached out to me to get the right number. Seriously??? What type of service is that??? They charged me $170.00 and the picture that my friend sent me was of a plant that was a notch up from what I could buy at Home Depot. This price was excessive for what they delivered. On Monday I called and left a message for the owner. By Wednesday I had not heard back, so i called again to just let the owner know that no one contacted me when they had an issue with my credit card even though they had my contact info. She then started yelling at me on "why am i bothering her"? I said that as a business owner myself, i would want to know of any problems at my business and she continued to scream at me. I eventually hung up. This business in not well run and the owner does not seem to care in any way about customer service or being professional. I would never use them again. read more

Some days they have a limited supply and some days there are full of freshly shipped flowers. Service is always great, and helpful. My recommendation: go every week. I don't know if the title "wedding planner" should be included in the company description. Yes to florist, but when I think of a wedding planner or consultant, I think of someone warm, smiling, helpful, positive, and gave your full attention. Not negative, quick, and not to mention we stood in the walkway the entire time which was a huge distraction. From the beginning of our meeting I got the feeling we should have known what flowers we wanted exactly. There were no suggestions from the "wedding consultant" or alternatives, no pictures, ideas were not thrown around...nada. As I mentioned above, we stood the entire 45 min in the walk way where we constantly had to move around so customers could come & go. It was a huge distraction, and left me frustrated. Of course our consultant sat down on the ledge next to the register, but all of us remained standing being shuffled. The "consultants" attitude was very straight forward and treated us like we were ordering the toppings for our hamburger. I felt like she put pressure on us that if we didn't go with them that day, the flowers wouldn't be available for the big day. I've been coming here for years because of my son. He loves ceiling fans and they usually have them going. I rarely buy anything, but the employees are still super-nice to us. They know who we are because we always camp out for at least 5 minutes while Nate checks out the fans. Pete the duck is a huge draw too. It's fun to see Pete swimming in the sink. On the occasions I have made a purchase, I've been very happy. They wrap the flowers nicely for you and they last a long time. The shop also has some fun merchandise and nice cards and vases. Just last weekend they had large dogwood branches for sale (white blossoms in now, pink arriving soon). You can find the most spectacular peonies here in June (sure they are cheaper at Whole Foods but the WF flowers don't last nearly as long as the Bunches ones). They have interesting stuff like tuberoses, sedum, magnolia wreaths, and evergreen garlands with pepper berries at Christmas. Plus the staff is helpful and will custom arrange a bouquet on the spot or bring a favorite vase and they will have flower decorator arrange something extra special for you for the holidays. The colors, textures and mix of greens with flowers can be stunningly creative.
