Plenty of parking space. There is a bike washing station and pavilions. This trail offers hiking, biking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, playground, canoe launch, boardwalk and an observation tower.  East end of trails are easy trails, mainly flat, which are open to biking, hiking and horseback riding (just follow the signs accordingly). The trails are mainly blue rated West end trails are more advanced, rooty sections. All in all...this is a hidden gem of a trail most mountain bikers are not familiar with. It is well maintained and the locals here are super friendly.

A small park with a…read morebig picture Pioneer Park is indeed a small park, just occupies a corner of a couple of streets. It does have a nice fountain, some cool benches and tables and a interesting sculpture of an alligator. A very pleasant place for a little rest while walking around the center of Deland. However what really catches the eye in Pioneer Park is the gigantic mural that takes up the entire side of a building. The mural probably covers more area the the entire rest of the park. The picture is called Pioneers Parceland and I believe it was dedicated in 1996. Huge, stunning and brightly colored, it has amazing detail and shows the early settlers arriving in the area. We just sat there for a long time taking in the beauty and different parts of the mural. It's so large that you actually have to back away at times to take it all in. The mural at Pioneer Park is a extremely mesmerizing work of art that photographs cannot begin to justice to. It has to be seen in person to truly be appreciated. it shows what a progressive town can do with a small and seemingly useless piece of space.

Dead cows and lots…read moreand lots of poop. The Brickyard Slough Tract is actually the eastern end of the Lake Monroe Conservation Area. A huge place with hundreds of acres that was a flood plain for the St John's River in wetter times. The area is indeed a beautiful place with lots of pristine wilderness and weird trees, plants and critters that call it home. Unfortunately SR 415 is under going some major construction and the whole area is now under siege. Huge trucks and lots of noise and dust everywhere. The area is still assessable but takes a bit to find it through all the construction. The huge parking lot is basically just a field but there is a nice board with info and a cool map. Unfortunately the cool map is now basically useless because of all the changes due to the construction. The first part of the hike leads through a huge field that is shared by many cows. Make sure you close the gate if you actually hike here. Of course lots of cows means lots of cow poop and the field is quite literally covered with it. Hard in places to find a clean spot to put your foot. The whole west side is blocked due to the construction and I suspect that's where the turns for the main trails are. We certainly couldn't find them because a fence blocked the way. We had to go straight into more open fields and more cow poop. Saw a whole lot of cows along with the cow poop and even the remains of one dead cow. The buzzards were through with it and it was just bones and hide. The hike was interesting with lots of cool and mature trees and plants but much of it was open field covered with the cow poop. I saw lots of cow tracks, deer tracks, buzzard tracks and even some raccoon tracks but not one single human track. I suspect this place isn't hiked very often. Just as well. As lovely as it is the area is best left to the cows until the construction on SR 415 is completed.

Mill Lake Park is a small, but nicely planned out pork in Orange City, Florida. It is on the corner…read moreof East Blue Spring Avenue and South Holly Street and is across the street from the Veterans Memorial Park. According to one sign that I had seen, Mill Lake actually a drainage basin. It was converted into this wet retention area in the late 1960s. It has a nice walkway around the lake that has a few pavilions with picnic tables underneath them at park benches spread throughout. The pavilions also have little grills on their sides. While I was here, there was a group of people enjoying a party of some sort under one of the pavilions. It also appears that they have a little splash park for kids here, but on the day I was here the temperature was in the fifties so no one was there. There are also restrooms at the park. All in all, this is a great little park and I am sure it is embraced by the community. I am going to give this park five stars.

Pretty and very natural hike. This is a hunting area and notices are posted for the hunting season game allowed for hunters. So what I noticed right away is that there is *a lot* of large poop here. Yes, large! I thought at first it was horse trails we were walking on, but this is all cattle land so the cows roam freely...and they leave a lot behind! Be aware the hike is lovely, but in the flat open pasture area it's the cow bathroom. The loop on the marked trail with white markers is about 1.5 miles. Peaceful hike and beautiful nature. Passed some hunters and some orange trees with fruit. Also saw some pretty irresponsible trash strewn about, lots of shooting casings trash, plastic bags, and broken glass beer bottles. Not as pristine as other trails but pretty anyway. If you need a restroom of your own prior to hiking, check out Beck Reed Park that is close by and it has picnic facilities and dog park.
