Worth the drive. Really nice canopy over the road and some great views of the water. Also a great roadway for biking and running.

This exhibit started November 2024 through April 2025 We missed 3 more sculptures because we were so tired after running around and running in and out of The car. We will continue to show you the last 3 asap. This is A must for locals and tourists also. In the brochure is a map where you can find them. We live in Ormond by the Sea so we started at the corner of A1A and and East Granada boulevard and worked our way down to the bridge. I can continue more when I update this review. I picked up my brochure and map at the post office. You would have to look on the map or scan the ??? I forgot what it's called) below scanner?) Anyway, I don't know where other brochures are so you can Google it. I will update this post as soon as I do the last 3 statues. Oh the window washer at the Granada? ( Love that movie you have to watch it) Furthermore, if any of these sponsors read my reviews, in my review(s) there are too many to list) Thank you for this amazing exhibit for The locals and tourists. Oh, The clothing on these statues look so real, I had to get up close to feel them

I was in heaven taking pictures. With plenty of benches to sit and admire the view. Some of those benches have funny sayings. Towards the back of the park, there is a walking long bridge. It has a plaque that tells the history of the place. It was the first place for a Christian marriage in north America once upon a time. . This little park has its own parking lot. Is not too big. I liked my time here. I was glad I stopped. I got great pictures.

4 reasons to come to this park. ***NEW INFORMATION***…read more There isn't any fee for everything I'm mentioning EXCEPT the front part of the off beach parking area ****** 1st is MY reason: I go here because it has 2 fenced in HUGH dog play areas. My girls go into the small dog play area while yes, big dogs go in the other one. Each play area has benches, water and poop bags in different areas of the park. (Some people leave balls there also otherwise, you bring your own) I walk the perimeter while the girls run after me and the other dogs. My 2 rescues "mother/daughter" duo are still puppies, full of muscle and need to run for their exercise. (for me to rest because they are a handful) 2nd: There is A children's play area. I know they have swings slides picnic benches but I'm not sure what else because I don't have a child to go there. I hear all of the children laughing, having fun so I'm sure it's pretty nice. 3rd: They also have back to back courts for... I know one is basketball, the other one may be pickleball? Not quite sure but again I see lots of people playing on the courts even if I'm not paying attention to them 4th: Which is most likely you wanted 1st is the large parking area across from the beach As you first drive into the park, there is a huge off beach parking area where You can (of course) park and walk right across to the beach. * BE AWARE, It is no longer "free" parking (just like ALL the parking areas in Volusia county) **The parking areas are free for local residents as long as you register with your car license plate and proof that you are indeed a resident here. ***I don't know what the policy is, you will have to look it up in The Volusia County rules I do know it's $20 a day parking (and all the parking areas now) BUT, I do know it is a great park with something to do for all AS for pictures, I will put them up when I go again BUT, here is a shot of my cute ladies and something strange that someone put up. Stick figures that I don't know their meaning

Once…read moreinside the park, there is a view of the intercoastal waterway, where the breeze was glorious. I did bug spray up as soon as I exited the car- which I highly recommend if the bloodsuckers like you. There is a screened in pavilion you can normally rent for events- closed right now due to Covid. There is a little dock a family was fishing from and a small watercraft launch, I can only imagine kayaking from here would be beautiful. Plenty of trails including a 7 miler to the next state park. We hiked back to the site of slave cabins- all that was left was the stone base of what was a hearth and fireplace. This site is a previous plantation. My heart aches when I see that they had slaves to run their sugar mill and also grew and processed indigo- which was highly poisonous to those working directly with extracting the dye from the plant. A death sentence for those assigned that job. I know this from a previous tour at another plantation. I am happy that that part of our history is in the past and I hope we continue to learn from those times and never repeat the mistakes of the past. The ruins are further down the road, the hiking trail back was closed (probably due to high water levels). This area was swarming with mosquitos- I reapplied bug spray for good measure- just dip me in deet. This however was my favorite part~ my inner-artist took hold and I ran rampart taking pictures. We were lucky that we toured the ruins by ourselves. No one else was out there while we explored. I easily spent 45 minutes just snapping pictures. Probably more than you would need. The average person would probably only spend 15-20 minutes walking around and reading the information boards. There is a building off to the side that has tools and things recovered from the area. I love that you can walk through the ruins on a sidewalk that is chained off from you entering into any of the structures- preserving what remains, but allowing you a special glimpse from "inside" the ruins. I recently visited another park that had the large ruins completely closed off- only external views. So this was a treat. You could spend as little as 45 minutes going through this park or spend the day hiking and picnicking. Go visit and enjoy the history and views.

The park is actually split in two - divided by picturesque Florida Highway A1A (a gem in itself). The ocean side has a honor system pay box where you deposit $5 for the day, and place a numbered stub on your dashboard. The Intracoastal side has a ranger station, staffed by very friendly and informative park rangers. We ended up picking up a yearly family pass for $120. This allows up to eight people to access any of Florida's 175 State Parks. Gamble Rogers is immaculately clean and well-maintained. The picnic areas on the Intracoastal side are particularly nice! The boat ramp and kayak launching areas are very nice as well. Bathrooms were impeccably tidy - something that's always appreciated! We spent some time walking on the Joe Kenner Nature trail, and saw lots of wildlife. There are many campsites here (on both sides). We did not check out these areas because the roads were marked "for registered campers only." My only disappointment was that the beachside public walkover to the beach itself was closed - presumably due to storm damage. Hopefully this gets opened soon, as the only was to access the Gamble Rogers SP Beach would be to utilize one of the several walkovers in the beachside campground (not sure if this is allowed - will ask next time I'm there). Can't wait to go back - a super-nice State Park that is only a few minutes from my home.
