TEC ART HAS DONE IT AGAIN!…read more I had a great experience when I was planning my daughters 1st birthday that I knew I would be coming back to their services again in the future. One year later, here I am giving an update on this year's services I had Tec Art help do for me. I wasn't planning on having a big celebration for my daughter this year that would require to hire vendor services but we found out we were going to welcome my 13 year old stepson home for good to Hawaii from Oregon. So I decided why not have a surprise welcoming party along with my daughters 2nd Birthday?! I contacted Maria a few months before the party date. Luckily she was available that night to provide services with them. I worked closely with her through emails and text if needed. Our date had to be changed to the following week and even though she was already booked with two other parties, she was still willing to take me on even though we had some conflicts that we managed to compromise. So grateful for her and her team to go above and beyond to meet our needs and expectations even through all the changes I had requested. The following services I got from them were: Digital Invitation Centerpieces Banner Money box Goody Bags Cardboard Sign Stage Balloons Let me tell you though! Trying to incorporate two themes is harder than trying to plan one theme. But Maria helped me go through ideas and it turned out awesome! We planned a joint TWOdles Minnie Mouse and Slytherin Harry Potter theme that fit well for the kids. There's so many ideas on Pinterest that could help guide your way but when you're indecisive person like me, it helps to have a planner that will help in making your decision. I threw random ideas at Maria and basically took it all into consideration and provided samples of what it'll look like. One thing I've noticed that some comments have been made by other people is that they don't get a response fast enough from them. I understand why they would say that but yet I have experience with this company two years in a row and they are a small business that provides a lot of services so it can be overwhelming. My advice would be to just be patient and if anything, do follow up emails like I did and even text/call them if you want a quicker response. From my experience, even though it may take longer for a response, I know that they're doing their job and will execute whatever request with pride. I was referred to Maria and Jay from a friend of mine because I was planning my son's 1st birthday party and looking for vendors. I then looked them up on Instagram to see their work and I was blown away! I have never seen balloon art like theirs and it's simply amazing! Very detailed, and extremely creative! I looked at few other companies before checking them out, and I knew once I saw their work that I HAD to have them for my son's 1st birthday party! I contacted Maria via Email about a month or two after my son was born (early I know, but the 1st birthday party planning struggle is real! And if you want certain vendors, you need to touch base w/them early to secure your date!) and she responded after a day or two. The first time I called her she picked up right away! And we were able to discuss my son's "Space Jam" themed party. Our first meeting was to discuss what we wanted for my son's party as far as colors, and what package we wanted to go with. For my son's party, they did the balloon art which included spiral columns, name arch, balloon decorations for the stage, cake table balloons, reception balloons, banner, basketball hoop arch for the entrance, centerpiece's, 3 balloons attached to centerpiece on each table and money box. (Money box was added to the package just two weeks before the party and they were able to accommodate! I am so thankful for that!) Throughout the year working with Maria was awesome, she always responded to my emails and returned my calls. She even accommodated last minute changes my bf wanted to make with the colors (just two weeks before the party) thank you for that!! Our last meeting was to give her our centerpiece items for the clear stuffed balloons and go over last details. The day of the party they were early and ready to go! (our venue was the Hawaii Okinawa Center in Waipio and they only give you an hour to set up). The balloon set up was amazing, almost a year working with Maria and to see all our planning come to life paid off! It was a great weight lifted off my shoulders! They make planning a party that much easier! I don't think you'll find another balloon company as creative as Tec Art Ideas! They are such a hard working team! On top of that they do so much more! Most tattoos I saw were a tan/gold that blended in with the skin, and there were minimal kid-friendly options. After the party, I brought this to the owner's attention and she handled it as any professional business would, which is why I still believe it is a five star service. It is important took book a year or more in advance because the fill up quickly with other parties and weddings. They also do children's birthdays and graduations. My wedding turned out perfectly. Everything was timed wonderfully. Geri went over the timeline in advanced with my wedding party. So everyone knew what they were doing. There was no disorder and chaos. I could relax and enjoy my big day. Geri also worked well with my photographer, Bianca, videographer, Journey Cinema, and makeup and stylist, Moana Cheryll. Everyone stuck to the schedule so the wedding went perfectly. The wedding was so good that when it came to my daughter's first birthday in June, I didn't hesitate in hiring Geri and her team as soon as my daughter was 5 months old. I knew graduation season would be most craziest and my child's birthday would be in the midst of it all. So I booked early. The birthday party turned out as perfect as my wedding Geri and her worked well with my photographer, Jen from Hanabata Days. We were in corespondence with Kelly who was helpful in getting us the package we needed. We also got a 10 percent discount from Yelp! Kelly was our point person and helped coordinate our timeline. She also was the laision with the band. Before the party, I sent her the script and timeline. On the day of the party, the band showed up to set up at 10a for our 11a party. They said they thought they started at 1030a. I said they started at 11:30 a.m. Kelly (Balloon artist) and face painter came onsite at just about 11a. One major disappointment I had was that the MC refused to facilitate our script. We thought it was farily light and simple, including directions to the bathroom, where the rubbish is, then calling up various people to help facilitate the program and games. Luckily, my sister in law stepped in and did the MCing. The quality of the balloons was excellent, as well as the face painting. The live band was REALLY good, loud, and brought excellent energy to the party. Everyone complimented us on the entertainment. Eddie, the band leader, brought us a screen and projector for our slideshow. It went off without a hitch. The band continued to play until after most of our guests left. Unfortunately when they took their break, most of our guests started leaving. In hindsight, I would have everyone sang happy birthday a little later so people stuck around to hear their second set. Also, I asked the face painter if we could make announcement that they would be closing in 15 minutes and she said no because people will line up for their face painting/balloon. I thought that was the point. But, oh well. Maybe people luckily got their face painted and balloon early. Overall, it was a little disorganized, but it came together and was a nice party.

While their portfolio shows talented work, their booking practices are incredibly deceptive. ​The Timeline: ​March 31st: I submitted an inquiry via their website for face painting and balloon art at their advertised rate. ​April 1st: After receiving no response to my initial inquiry, I followed up via text. Only then was I told the rates had jumped 50% higher less than 24 hrs from my intial inquiry. ​It feels like an intentional delay to avoid honoring the price that was active when I first reached out. They claimed "Spring" pricing ended on April 1st, yet there was no mention of seasonal rates or expiration dates anywhere on their site. I have inquired with the majority of local vendors for these services, and this is the only business on Oahu that uses "seasonal changes" to justify a 50% overnight increase. ​Additional Red Flags: ​The "Evidence Scrub": Immediately after I called them out via text (where they admitted to the change), they scrubbed all pricing from their website so there was no "proof" of the original website rate. ​The Delivery Fee: They insisted on a delivery fee for a party in Honolulu area. Given they are based in Honolulu and the equipment for these services is minimal, a $40 fee for a 5-minute drive feels like blatant "nickel and diming." ​Lack of Integrity: Even if their rates were reasonable, I would not do business with them because of these shady practices. ​It is poor business practice to change your rates the moment a customer shows interest in the advertised price. If you value cost transparency and professional integrity, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. Proceed at your own risk.

I was able to get one balloon artist and one face painting artist and I am not kidding when I say "artist". The quality of face paintings I saw was next level. There were tigers, unicorns, fairy princess, Pokémon and some sort or rainbow reptile (really cute actually).The Balloon animals were also out of this world. Octopus, dolphins, princess crowns a functioning bow and arrow!! I had a party with 50 kids and these two artist were hustling. They had a line the entire party, but they never complained or stopped. The kids were happy and the parents got to relax and enjoy the music. They were so easy to work and so patient and kind to all of my guest. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.
