I haven't been to Buona in a very long time and this was my first time at this location. The customer service at Buona has always been great. Hasn't changed here. The dining area is clean and spacious. We picked up a couple of beefs, some cheese fries and decided to go home with their Rainbow ice cream cookie. I went with my usual Italian beef order, baptized with hot peppers. The beef was delicious, it was very juicy and the peppers offered just the right amount of spice. The cheese fries were just at delicious. Overall we enjoyed our meal at Buona and will be making a better effort in returning sooner. read more

Employees are charging unauthorized tips at multiple locations. Harwood Heights & Countryside. On two separate occasions I was charged a small odd amount for a tip I did not authorize. Both times the employee, one of which was a manager, said that I must have accidentally pressed something. That is impossible because I only tapped my card and to tip under 15% one has to manually put the amount which I did not do. The first time it happened, the tip screen disappeared before I could even select anything. The second time it happened, I never saw a tip screen but somehow I was charged a tip after tapping my card. I do not want anything, but this is obviously a widespread issue & who knows how many customers they've done this to. Since this is such a small amount most customers won't even notice. read more

Love the bright and open atmosphere of this branch! You grab a menu yourself and go up to the cashier to say your order and pay for your food. Order took 5-10 minutes to arrive. It was about $40 for four people. The Italian beef sandwich was dipped, which means it is slightly soaked in the gravy before being served. It was juicy, tender, and flavorful. You can even ask for a side of more gravy if you want more to dip. The margherita and pepperoni pizza were crunchy, The sauce was sweet and a little sour. There could have been more cheese on the pizza, it was just ok. There is a Rainbow Cone Ice Cream stall in the Buona beef restaurant, which makes for a sweet ice cream treat after your meal. Their ice cream is very unique because 5 ice cream flavors (orange sherbet, pistachio, palmer house, strawberry, & chocolate) are stacked on top of each other and are put on a cone and it's huge! I went in for a scheduled job inter today at 3pm as of my knowledge I have the verification in my phone. When I arrived at the job I was told by the lady in the front that to have a seat and the hiring manager would come see me, when I finally sat down and was waiting the same lady came back out front and told me that she don't have time to see me at the moment that she has more important stuff to worry about. Very little meat almost embarrassing how little meat was on the sandwich. Sweet and hot pepper $1.50 up charge and very skimpy. The hot dog had the right look to it however no snap whatsoever, soft dog. The toppings were Chicago style and good. Restaurant was clean and service was good. I recently went to the Buona Beef in Harwood Heights for an early dinner. I know Buona is starting to pick up more locations in Chicagoland, but I honestly was not sure if I had been to any of them prior to this visit. You order at the register before sitting down, and they have a variety of seating options. They also have an outdoor seating area, but it was storming on that day so no one was sitting outside. The lemon wedges at the counter are greatly appreciated as a refreshing additive to the cups of ice water. The ketchup bottles have amusing labeling referencing Chicago-style hot dogs. There is free parking adjacent to the restaurant. They have some intriguing daily specials, but none on Saturdays which was the day of our visit. I had no idea that they served ribs, pizza and soup as well as the well-known Italian beef sandwiches. My love and I each went with the 7-inch Italian Beef "Anthony Rizzo" style (yes they have a cool cardboard cutout of Cubs star Anthony Rizzo and White Sox Hall of Famer Frank Thomas touting their sandwiches). The Rizzo style beef is topped with red sauce and cheese, and somehow my ensemble was not too messy to eat. We also split an order of cheese fries, which would be a decent size order for one person. Buona beef partnered with Uptons Naturals to introduce the plant-based Italian beefless sandwich back in April. Since then I've bought it so many times because it's available for a limit time. The vegan Italian beef is amazing!! The flavor is there and taste like a regular Italian beef. Well from what I remember. This location also is open for dine-in. Had a 5" original italian beef sandwich here. I had it the buona way, which is served in it's own natural gravy with an extra spoonful to top it off with sweet peppers and hot giardiniera on the side. The 5" is really too small to satisfy and my sandwich had too much gravy on it. It actually tasted greasy, and my bread was so soggy on the bottom that it fell apart. The hot giardiniera is really hot, so be careful when ordering it and putting on your sandwich. I decided to try another 5" original beef with mozzarella cheese and get it dry. This was much better, and I was able to enjoy my sandwich a lot better. However, the mozzarella cheese was practically non-existant, and I could only taste it on one bite. Went last night when visiting my mom. The service was so slow! I know it was Friday night and busy but when I had to order a second time for a missed chicken sandwich it took 18 minutes to get it. The food for the first time was just ok. Usually it is consistent to good but last night my salad had little chicken and they forgot the cheese. The onion rings were over cooked a few burnt. This is my favorite Italian beef and I've been eating them since they opened their first location in Berwyn in the early 80s. The beef is nicely spiced and tender and the giardinaria is also good. The only item I've tried that i didn't care for is the fries. Sign up for the loyalty club and you'll get a $5 credit plus an additional $5 for each $100 spent. This place is great! I've never eaten inside the restaurant, so this review is only based on the drive-thru, but I've never had better customer service ever in a drive-thru. My go-to is a regular beef sandwich that is "baptized" as they call it. I love gravy, so I like much of my bread on the soggy side. Of course you gotta add your peppers to it, as well! This was my first time at Buona's and I ordered the Buona Beef with red sauce/gravy and parmesan chips as a side. The portion of the meat was enough to fill you up but they didn't put enough red sauce or giardiniera peppers which made the sandwich a bit too dry. The Parmesan chips were freshly cooked and highly recommended to get as a side. I'm surprised with the food variety they offer here ranging from salads, pizza, and other sandwiches.
